WOYWW 711 on a roll

Welcome deskers - Wednesday already again.. time for WOYWW  with Julia at the Stamping-Ground. All welcome.

I was on a bit of a roll on Sunday, had some birthday cards to make and decided to play with the new stencils from a couple of weeks ago.

the recipients won't see this post as although they're crafters they don't check my blog,,,

the first is for a friend who is nursing her husband in his final weeks and so "happy" birthday didn't seem appropriate for a sentiment....

the colours are bundled sage and speckled egg distress oxide,  and a small sweep of frayed burlap for shading

this is speckled egg for the stencilling on the background and the stamping is medieval blue  (versafine clair)

a chance to use the new Paperartsy set I got before Christmas

then I went to the journals...

one of Dina's supporters that I follow on You Tube (Claire Stead, art_journal love)  shared her love of this colour combination a while ago - peacock, turquoise and orchid paints (Dina's paints)

the stencil is the new "twisted forest" from Stencil Girl from a couple  of weeks ago.

and I used it randomly over a black background in the journal -  love the colours over black!

Claire also inspired this one, which is a work in progress,  just black and white.. stencils by Dina, over black.

will add some stamping at some stage... probably!
and again, the first stencil, the poppy seed heads, in a different colourway, on watercolour paper

I think these were uncharted mariner and villainous potion as watercolours

Not had such a productive time for ages!

Finally Kew on Saturday - a bit of rain, but missed the one torrential downpour by timing a walk through the Temperate House at just the right ten minutes!

love the shapes of the Monkey Puzzle tree branches
inside the Temperate House during the downpour.

Thanks for looking,  I'll be along shortly....

Happy WOYWW

WOYWW 663

Welcome back to another Wednesday  for WOYWW that arrives in a blur -  I was nearly last on the list last week as I had to leave for work early before the link was up, and can't work out how to join the link on my phone, so it had to wait till I got home - you certainly get less visits down there!  Thank you to everyone who left a comment.

so, what have I got to share this week?

just a couple of journal pages - as a change from pattern play

using some of the new Dina images I pre-stamped
and some scribbly posca paint pen work outlining some of the stencilled flowers

I had hoped for some new stash to share (oops, I shopped again) but it hasn't arrived yet!

I had another sunny visit to Kew on Saturday and some real signs of Spring on the way - check it out

the forecast for the rest of the week is storms, wind and rain (and further north, snow)  so not sure that the next visit will be quite so pretty!

Thanks for visiting, and see you soon

WOYWW 640

Hey peeps, here we are again, time for another desk sharing day with Julia for WOYWW    (What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday, week 640)

I made some time to play with my Dina gloss sprays on Sunday  through stencils
then I used one in the Kraft journal with some stamped images
and a couple more pages part done

then I ran out of oomph!!

I had another lovely morning at Kew last Saturday

you can see here

No early start this weekend though as there is a fun run taking place and the gardens aren't opening till 11 so I get a lie in first!

That's all from me today,  have a good week and happy desk day!

WOYWW 634

Another week has flown by and it is once more time to hang out at Julia's for WOYWW

Once more I have a very unproductive floor space to share... I've been working on a birthday card that I can't share yet

but here's a teeny sneak peak!

and a look at a journal page worked from last week's Dina Wakley supporter video session starting on the horizontal line...

to create a horizon line.  which she developed into a loose landscape

I've more or less copied the basics of what she did, just to get my eye in as it were.

to finish with, the "desk" shot - taken from the sofa!

the foreground is filled with some of the journals I'm currently working in!

As always I'll finish with the link for Kew from Saturday

Just before I go I'd like to wish Jan a hugely happy birthday for Sunday - hope you have a fabulous day and are spoiled rotten.

to the rest of you - happy WOYWW!

WOYWW 629

Morning deskers, it's Wednesday again...   Time to meet with Julia again for WOYWW

my gorgeous Shaz tribute from Debbie arrived

Thank you so much Debbie, it is truly beautiful.

Now to find somewhere fitting to display it!

I made some more journal pages

I may have inadvertently misled you last week
the $5 monthly cost for the Dina Wakley group isn't classes as such but a facebook supporters group - you pay your sub and get free facebook "live" sessions/demonstrations

which you are then free to have your own go -
whichever way, it seems a bargain to me.

I also made a birthday card for one of my cousins, her birthday is Friday, the day before mine (she's a year older!)
I am running low on this size card blank in white (6x6 inch)  so used cream

She won't see this here so am safe to post it

which brings us to Kew last weekend - all pics here

but a couple to tempt you

love these daisy types
and you know I love alliums!

I will be there again on Saturday of course, can't not have a trip to Kew for my birthday- hoping for sunshine but currently the forecast is drizzle and not exactly warm.... hey ho!!

Thanks for looking .see you soon - work is mega busy, with the mortgage stamp duty holiday coming to an end on the 30th so we are flat out trying to make sure everyone completes their purchases in time where possible.. so I may not get time at lunchtime to do my usual desk visiting  .

WOYWW 617

Happy desk day time for another WOYWW - the last one in March - already!   Our Shaz would be proud of me today, there is enabling upon enabling today

first up, my Dina Wakley stencils that had been on pre-order - these were from Art From the Heart.

Then some new Paperartsy releases - these were from Stampers Grove.

bit of a mix up - a Stencil Girl stencil was in my basket from previously but the wrong one got sent with the order.

I decided to hang on to it and re-ordered the one I had intended to get

I put in the second order to James at Stampers Grove on Saturday morning  - and received the stencils on Monday!

as a thank you./apology he sent the Carabelle studio one at the bottom as a gift!  totally unnecessary but much appreciated

the one I had originally wanted is the wordy one top left.

whilst I was hopping around the shops, I noticed that That's Crafty had some of Dina's new stamps in stock-  yay!

the Dina small (it's 6 x 6 inches) journal sort of fell into my basket at the same time - on Saturday -  and they arrived today (Tuesday, at time of writing!!)  what service

so, did I play at the weekend?

well, a little

I played in my Dina blue journal, on a white page.
Used some of the new stencils

then I turned to my small A5 journal and some of the Paperartsy stamps that came in February that hadn't been inked yet!

oh, sorry, one last thing to show.

Most of you know the lovely Debbie Rock from crops and facebook, and her amazing talent and her giveaways

I was lucky enough to receive one and that came yesterday too!

what a week!!

hope I'll be forgiven for this photo-heavy post!
there might be something different to show next week - no hints though!

WOYWW 616

Welcome deskers,  to week one, post vaccination!  time to desk share again - with Julia at the Stamping-Ground

Last Friday was my first virtual funeral,  for Shaz and I have to say Doug got it just right, it was perfect. Sad, but perfect.

Vaccination day was Saturday and I documented the day in my journal afterwards - you can see in the previous post but I'll add it here too

I saved my sticker and colour-co-ordinated the page (what, you don't think these things happen by chance do you?!)

I had Monday off work too, and just chilled - I was so tired on Sunday after the vaccination, but apart from a bit of a headache didn't have any other side effects

I was hoping to do some serious crafting on Monday but for some reason once again couldn't really settle to much.

I did add a few more layers to another page in my Dina journal  - think this one is finished now!

here are some of my journals stacked up on my work mat - there are plenty more part done too but they're hanging out over the other side of the room!

Thanks for looking and I'll be round to snoop at your desk soon.

My new Dina stencils are on the way to me - no doubt they'll come tomorrow so that's something to look forward to for the weekend and next week's desk to tease you with!!

WOYWW 615

What?  Wednesday, already?    So, desk sharing day again then... WOYWW.

I kept on scribbling more circles to my page from last week - I wished I hadn't added the black ones, so I tried to go over them in blue...
I really like this background, so much that I don't want to cover it up!

the facing page is finished though

and I added some more layers to a previous double page spread too!

Looking forward to visiting your desks later and seeing what you've been up to

For those of you who'll be attending - virtually - Shaz's funeral on Friday - I'll "see" you there!!  It will be very sad, but from what Doug has shared about the plans for it, it sounds very Shaz and just perfect.

Take care all.

WOYWW 613

Here we are again  -  another WOYWW  - time to share crafty spaces once again with Julia

I managed to finish the page I was stuck on last week...

I found a stencil in my stash that just about fitted on the top of the page  I don't know who the stencil is by,it is one of a few I bought at Ally Pally a few years ago - craft shows, now there's a thing!!

(I stencilled the "d" and then moved the stencil over just a smidge and finished the word)

I wrote the words using a Posca paint pen and stamped the heart (also a Dina stamp)

I stencilled it again down the side of the burlap page

I also added to one of the other pages I'd started....

mainly added collage tissue pieces

on the denim page I used some figures I'd stamped previously  using scribble sticks

then there is enabling....

the trade shows obviously can't take place at present so companies are just releasing new goodies...

I have some new Dina goodies on pre-order but whilst I am waiting tracked down some existing designs I hadn't yet succumbed to...

these arrived at work Tuesday

the pink ink pad I got just for fun...mainly because the pad I got a few weeks ago that looked pink on screen is quite purpley so I've tried again!

the pre-order items won't be here till the end of the month

and the new Paperartsy stamps and stencils are from the new releases - I only fell for these - they had a week of new releases from some of their signature designers, but I only shopped once!!

these came on Monday!

I also arrived home from work on Tuesday (today as I am writing)  to find a letter from the NHS saying I can now book my Covid vaccine - hurrah!

That's about it for me this week,  happy desk day - see you soon!

WOYWW 612

Welcome deskers, it's Wednesday again so time for WOYWW once more.  As always, sign up at Julia's Stamping-Ground

Not a lot to show this week,  have been very unproductive - one of those weekends when I couldn't get started on anything.

It was so heartwarming to read all of your comments and stories of Shaz and how much everyone loved her. I took on board the suggestion from Morti to use the quote Julia ended her tribute to Shaz, and did finish the page I showed you last week

I decorated the border with hearts (a Dina stamp) and wrote the quote on a scrap of white card in a silver paint pen (apt, I thought, for Shaz Silverwolf)
I added some dots of glitter to the middle points of the hearts, and a tear drop...

I tried to finish some of the other journal pages too, but as I said, my heart wasn't really in it.

I got this far with one though
It needs a big quote or some more stamping or stencilling or something.

maybe by next week's desk day I'll have succeeded

Take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW
- there is it seems, an end in sight to lockdown, albeit a slow one (very sensible!)  and I may even get a hair cut before summer!!

WOYWW 611 - Farewell, chief enabler!

It is with heavy heart that we report for WOYWW duty this week, as our lovely, kind, enabling, friend, Shaz, lost her fight at the weekend and joined the crafty desks in the sky.... it goes without saying that we will all miss her immensely.

There have been many heartwarming tributes on Doug's Facebook pages from which I hope he will take comfort in time to come, and both Julia and Jan have written beautifully. Everyone who met her, or knew her through WOYWW loved her., and her lovely Hublet, Doug, who cared for her so valiantly, as well.

I tried to create something to honour Shaz's memory at the weekend but it wasn't happening. So I have bits and pieces...

I was trying to capture Shaz's fabulously coloured hair with this stencil.....
and couldn't work out what to do next.

still thinking, 4 days later.

then I started playing with new toys!

which arrived at the end of last week!

maybe this is how I can honour Shaz best, after all!!  my fellow Enabler.

I'm just showing off now, how many journals on the go?!!!

so, Shaz, farewell, rest in peace.

I hope, when we can meet again at a crop some time in the not too distant future, we can celebrate your life as it should be celebrated.  Till then,  "happy" WOYWW.

WOYWW 610

Welcome to another Wednesday, another WOYWW .  We are a close knit group and some of you  have seen Doug's latest update on Facebook about poor Shaz's deterioration.  Our hearts go out to them and I know we all wish them the very best and for Shaz to pull through.  The worst thing to read is that Doug can't be with her in hospital due to this blasted Covid.....  (edit.  They've let Doug in to see her.  I should think so too....)

But, it's Wednesday, so it is time to share our desks.

the goodies I was waiting for last week duly arrived,  mostly Paperartsy stuff this time!

but at the weekend I had to play in the new (tome) Dina
journal

Kraft page - drips of gloss spray paint - white, and marine - they mix to make the most beautiful teal colour..

and the new funny peeps stamps...

(those were stamped using scribble sticks, you wet the stamp and then scribble the colour on)  gorgeous water colour effect...
then I finished (possibly) off a page I'd started with some mop up,  on the heavy cotton  paper in the blue journal
and another denim page in the blue journal, paints stencilled and the tag is gloss spray overstamped in archival ink

I put in another order from Art From the Heart too......
look out next week for that I hope.

I don't really feel like writing more today,  so I'll leave you and come visit when I can .
