WOYWW 676 - the birthday edition

well deskers, here we are - week 676, 13 years old! What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (a birthday deserves the full name I think)  Huge thanks as always to Julia for starting and keeping this going for so long and to all of you for your friendship over the years, be it real or virtual. You are a cracking bunch of ladies!

I got a batch of 12 atcs made for swapping, I have 11 to swap (I remembered I need one to keep for myself)  so that's my partner,  Julia, Jan, plus Annie and Jo who have already offered to swap -  so by my reckoning another 6 so if you'd like to swap leave me a message (hoping blogger allows them after last week losing some of mine)

I'll get them off tomorrow as long as I have your address as I don't have email on my phone so won't be able to sort them till I get home from work..

I'll share a peak of the backgrounds only not the whole thing to keep them a surprise for the recipients and then show the finished atcs next week

they were cut from a masterboard I made months ago and which has been gathering dust ever since!

they -loosely - fulfil the "connections" theme as the images are connected (can you tell I was lacking in ideas?!)

nothing else to share today so I'll leave you with the link for Kew from last Saturday which was fabulous as always

In case you missed these from FB -
a huge batch of baby geese - we counted 25 or 26 all with just 2 adults... what a brood to care for

Thanks for looking,
will be round to visit soon as I can
Happy WOYWW and here's to year 14.

Welcome one and all to another weekly desk share -  join in at the Stamping-Ground for WOYWW a week to go before our 13th anniversary!  I've been having a bit of a play at some atcs to swap and hope to have a few ready in time!

semi-aerial view of the workspace

I had a birthday card to make for my cousin (who won't see this post so am ok to share)

I used one of Tracy Scott's new stencils (Dina Wakley paint) and cut it out,  and one of her new flowers (Prismacolours)

the early start for Kew was good - despite waking at 4.30 instead of 5.30 and not being able to get back to sleep!

it's getting to allium time at Kew, and I do love my alliums!

As usual I will try and visit as many of you as I can either before work or at lunchtime and the rest later on!

Happy WOYWW

I seem to have caught the "comments won't show" bug as I have left a comment twice now on Julia's blog and it's disappeared ... so if  you don't see a comment from me I have left one!

 Happy May - Happy WOYWW

Last week I promised you new goodies - yes, Neet, of course it was Paperartsy!

I splurged on the whole of the new release from Tracy Scott,  more pattern making stamps, some fab stencils and some new Fresco paints

Tracy created some great patterns in her sketch book that she shared as part of the FB live on launch night and I had a play too at the weekend
some more successful than others  (but that is the point of the sketchbook, try them out, see how they work, before using them in a proper project)
to keep this post relatively short I'm just  sharing the ones I quite like
this is my favourite of the ones I've tried so far

Of course on Saturday I went to Kew -

pics  here

and of course, a teaser  - I'm addicted to the Strelitzia (bird of paradise)

and, I met an old friend.....

the Chinese Water Dragon,  not seen them around for a long time

thanks for looking,  happy WOYWW  and happy crafting.

This coming Saturday I'll be up at the craft of a sparrow's f*$5  at leaving for Kew at 6.15 as their member early 8am openings have started again.  Yay!!  it is so worth not enough sleep!

WOYW 673

Welcome to another week's WOYWW  -another week has flown by, and not a jot of crafting! Not for any particular reason, it just didn't happen!

I took some side on views of the boxes from last week; piles and piles of stuff everywhere !

and the other side of the room - more piles of stuff!

Saturday at Kew was gorgeous -  and I did more lying down photography on the dry grass!

Sorry I don't have anything more exciting to share this week - perhaps next time (new goodies on the way so there is every chance!)

I hope you all had a good Easter break - I got out for a couple of days out and now it's time for WOYWW again

Needless to say none of the re-organising got done!

whilst   I was sat catching up on some tv programmes I'd recorded I took a couple of photos around me...

the wooden Ikea boxes against the wall (they line the wall and go behind the big square boxes which hold my Paperartsy stamps)  hold most of my wooden stamps

you can see how small the area I have to work in is! the size of the craft mat...

I made another birthday card for a May birthday...
the background was done months ago for something else that didn't get used and I just added some die cut flowers

as I say, I had 2 mornings out - Friday I went to Hampton Court to see the tulip festival -  pics here

and Saturday of course, was Kew  pics here

I shared some photos on FB whilst I was at each  but these may tempt you to see more!

Thanks for looking,  I'll be round to visit your crafty spaces as soon as I can

Happy WOYWW

Welcome deskers, we find ourselves at Wednesday again.  Heading to Julia's for WOYWW again to share our crafty spaces...

I've made a birthday card using a couple of the new Paperartsy mini stamps I got last week

the friend this is destined for won't see this despite being a crafter so I feel fairly safe to share it here

I took another desk (floor) shot this week too, you can see the new stamps haven't been put away (indeed, the storage for the Minis is full so I will need to re-organise that...)

there might be time (but probably not inclination) over the forthcoming Easter weekend to do something about that!  I am certainly looking forward to my long weekend

Last week's Kew trip next  - here

For those of you whose desks I can't visit before work, it will be evening as we have a work training day out of the office so won't be getting a normal lunch break; so I'll see you soon!

Happy WOYWW.

The weeks keep on rising, so quickly!  week 670 of this fabulous desk hop run by Julia at the Stamping Ground - come join us!

For the first time in a while, I have new goodies to share   -  Last week Paperartsy had some more new releases and whilst the first couple of designers offerings weren't really my style,

I adored the mini stamps that originally started in their Ink and theDog range and these latest designs, plus small stencils, shouted at me

and promptly jumped into my basket, landing on the doormat on Tuesday
I pulled out my A5 sized journal at the weekend, not really knowing what to do - but the page on the left was already started, I'd played with the big stencil, and just doodled some outlines to it and added a bit of a stencilled background

the page on the right, the pink paint was a mop up from something or other - so long ago I have no idea what and I stencilled some flowers (using Distress Oxide inks)  on top, intending to come back and add to it ...
maybe next week!

it's been a long time since I worked in this journal, rather than the larger multi surfaced Dina Wakley journals  and it was quite fun.

Just time to add the links to last weekend's trip to Kew, it was cold, such a contrast to the warmth of the previous week but still sunny (mostly)
catch the blossom here
sneak peak for you..

see you soon!  happy WOYWW

Wednesday, 30 March 2022

Welcome deskers, it is Wednesday again already,  so must be time for WOYWW
I think I made a rash comment last week about there may be more crafting on show this week....I might have exaggerated

However,  there is a birthday card for my friend Kirsty at work

I used some of the Tracy Scott pattern building stamps
and coloured them with the Prismacolour pencils  -

it looked good at this stage

the greeting ended up a bit wonky because I didn't want to hide the words on the  horizontal strip with the vertical and then dropped it on the card

however Kirsty liked it which was the main thing (and I even decorated the envelope!)

so that's the extent of the crafting!

lets go to Kew instead!

where the blossom was a-ma-zing

Here's looking to your desks!

Wednesday, 23 March 2022

Another Wednesday has rolled around and it's time for WOYWW again.

I've done even less crafting than last week

a birthday card for a girl at work using the Dina birds

so I took a shot of the "desk"  as well

Last weekend's trip to Kew was beautiful,  the sun shone and Spring had sprung.  Check out the magnolias here!

the sunshine and my new hair colour brought out the selfies too!  (well it's the same red I always have but it was newly done)

the fountain in the pond is one of my favourite spots at Kew

Looking forward to seeing some more creative desks very soon!  Happy WOYWW

Wednesday, 16 March 2022

Can't quite believe it's Wednesday again already,  time for WOYWW once more.

I had a great time at Ally Pally last Saturday - not because the show was good, because it was a mere shadow of it's former glory and the number of stands was very poor (unless you're into peel offs)  but it was great to meet up with my friend Lin for the first time since Covid and probably a year before that too.

This was what I bought...

a pack of A4 white card, which was what I needed to get.

the square plate I snaffled from the cafe as Lin's daughter persuaded us we'd be able to "do something with those"

I've not even opened an ink pad this week so nothing crafty to actually share today
because Lin had a hospital appointment in the morning we didn't get there till 1 - this was the hall...  very different to the craft shows I remember
you do always (weather permitting) get such a great view across London

So that meant my Kew trip was Sunday - shame, because the weather was much more drizzly and cool but I was determined to go.

the orchids have been removed but the centrepiece was still in place - and the reflection made it look like a ferris wheel!
and the magnolias were awesome

Thanks for visiting, I'll pop round later but work is manically busy so it may not be till later.

Wednesday, 9 March 2022

wow, that's a number and a half!  the beast that is WOYWW!   The day we share our crafty spaces with Julia

thank you for your thoughts for the funeral last week, it went really well - my aunt was 97, still living independently in the house she was born in, on her own since my uncle died 30 years ago,  still cooking, attending the church she'd been part of all her life where she was a force behind the weekly computer club!  Not a bad life!  It was also wonderful to catch up with members of my family I'd not seen since... the previous funeral; and especially grateful that we were able to gather together in numbers since COVID deprived so many families of the ability to do so.

I've only done a little crafting this week.

the white Dina journal this week, and some of the new Dina paint colours and stencils and images stamped on collage tissue.

Last weekend saw the final weekend of the Orchid Festival at Kew  and I made sure I saw my favourite parts of the display (that means the monkeys!)

outside, there was a real feel of spring (apart from the chilly weather!)  with the magnolias bursting into bloom being one of the highlights.

This weekend I may not be going until Sunday as I am planning to go to the Crafterama show at Alexandra Palace and meeting my friend Lin for the first time in 3 years, on Saturday.
She's got to come up to London for a hospital appointment and the plan is to do Ally Pally afterwards.

The continuing news from Ukraine can't pass unmentioned, it is dreadful, scary and heartbreaking to watch unfold.

Till next week, stay safe, and happy crafting. Embrace the freedom.

Wednesday, 2 March 2022

Morning deskers, here we are in meteorological spring  - not that the weather knows, we've had a couple of days of rain again.   Still, it's Wednesday which means WOYWW  and time to meet up at Julia's to share our crafty spaces.

I thought about writing and linking this "live" in the morning as I am off work, I will be going to my aunt's funeral later,  but old habits die hard and I am writing on Tuesday evening and scheduling as usual!

I was looking in my photos for the new stuff - there must be new stuff, right?  well there, is only I'd forgotten to snap a photo -

taken from the sofa with a bit of a wide angle of the "desk" floor space... bit of a mess!
close up of the new stamps (Seth Apter for Paperartsy)

I did a bit of crafting this last week,  I splodged the new Dina paints that came last week, on the small kraft journal and added some stencilling and a tissue collage face and some mark making with a posca paint pen.

I also had a bit of a play with the new Prismacolour pencils, but can't share that as it was a card for our lovely Julia who so sadly lost her beloved Mama last week.  Dementia is such a cruel disease that robs us of the person long before the actual parting.  Sending huge hugs, Julia and all my love.

If you'll allow me,  on a brighter note,  Kew last Saturday, was - bright!  So I leave you with some springtime flowers!

the magnolia trees - well the pink ones - are in flower

I'll be round to visit those of you I can before I leave for the funeral and the rest of you, as usual, in the evening.

Take care and happy WOYWW
