WOYWW 840

Welcome fellow deskers another Wednesday has rocked up - time to meet at Sarah's for WOYWW

I was watching the Paperartsy new releases launch on Facebook last week and ... of course - went shopping (I was restrained though, and only got Alison Bomber's new stamps and not the Christmas themed sets... was severely tempted so there is still time!)

there was also a new script bases set of printed tissue which I did go for!
I stamped out the new designs, loving the poppies and the coneflowers,
and did some colouring

the poppies were with the Dina scribble sticks (Jan, they are pigment sticks, so although they look crayon-like they are very blendable )

the coneflowers I used Prismacolour pencils

the thinnish card I used to stamp them on, doesn't take water very well so only blended the poppies, not the others.

Didn't have time or energy for anything else, I did managed to get out and replace my fan - I think I will be needing it in the days to come!

Kew was forecast to be wet but luckily, kindly, the rain held off till Kim and I left around mid-day!

these shaggy looking flowers are some of my Broad Walk favourites in the summer.

there were SO many bees last weekend

hopefully the weather will allow a decent visit before it gets too hot, and also me to do some crafting on Sunday!

Happy WOYWW and see you soon!

WOYWW 838

Happy WOYWW once more lovely deskers. Head to Sarah's for the link and all the details - come share your crafty spaces!

This week seems me hit qualifying for state pension... not sure how the hell that happened!  Unlike Sarah however I haven't decided to stop working (although it's tempting sometimes!) but tomorrow, 66 it is.

So, of course, I had to treat myself - luckily Dina brought out some new goodies last week!

they turned up on Tuesday (well, would have been Saturday but the office is closed so RM couldn't deliver, and the parcel turned up at work Monday shortly after I left for home...)

New colours of Scribble Sticks, new stamps and new clear gloss spray... can be used as gloss in the normal way, or a resist (have seen some great YT videos already)
Can't wait to play!

there wasn't a lot of crafting at the weekend, it was a bit hot (and my electric fan broke, the casing fell to pieces (I really shouldn't have stored it on a window sill in full sun - or the cold come to that!)

but, layers of colour in the ledger journal.

the white stencilling is paint - turns out my Dina white paint (original bottle) had set solid and it was like spreading chocolate spread... I had been having trouble squeezing it out of the bottle, and thinking it was nearly empty, cut the bottle open, to find a lump of paint! I found a little container to transfer it to as I don't intend to throw it away!

oops!

I had a very hot and short visit to Kew on Saturday -  gave up about 11.30, it was too hot to walk around any more.

Thanks for looking,  I'll pop round soon to check out your creativity!

WOYWW 827

Well, here we are, Wednesday and time for WOYWW with Sarah

I shopped - again!
Dina brought out some new paints, and stamps
i wasn't quick enough for the stencils so waiting for a restock,

I did get another bag of paper dolls by Tim though.

I added lots more layers to the journal page from a few weeks ago - some of them are with the new goodies above

still think it needs something - something handwritten or a big quote.

I never know how all these people who put videos on you tube come up with such good quotes all the time.

Kew is stunning currently, lots of Spring springing...
this was from last week

we're allowed in at 9 for an Easter kids thing - Supertato (no, never heard of him either)  so that's great!!

That's it from me for this week, happy WOYWW, see you all soon.

WOYWW 826

Happy April - and WOYWW.  Head to Sarah's for the link up and nose-round!

we'll start with new goodies!
and a card I  made with some of the Alison Bomber stamps from last week

the card base is actually cream but the phone doesn't pick it up well.
and a journal page with some of the Paperartsy tissue (the stuff they used as packing filler before deciding they could sell the stuff!)

I coloured the pieces with Neocolour II crayons.
how long is it since I used them... ahem!!

it's a WIP of course!  they need work to make them seamless and blended.

Had a lovely walk at Kew on Saturday in warm sunshine...

it was packed, as it was 10k fun run day
cherry blossom
pasque flowers

sunlit magnolias.

Thanks for dropping by
I'll be round when I can!

WOYWW 825

Hello deskers, another Wednesday has rolled round... Head to Sarah's for the link to WOYWW and share your crafty spaces..

the new goodies I was expecting last week, duly arrived at work on Wednesday

I opened the pack of tissue so you could see some of the design, it's Alison Bomber's tissue along with one of her new stamp sets and 2 of her stencils, and the smaller one is a Stencil Girl stencil by Seth Apter.

I probably shouldn't have caved in, because Paperartsy have new releases again this week and yesterday (at the time of writing) I splurged ..... badly... again!   Hopefully they'll be here for next week!
I used Seth's stencil in a square journal and then a couple  of his stamps that came a few months ago. round the edges.
I also stamped the lavender on watercolour paper and used a purple Mattint to colour them,  along with the leaves.
I've since fussy cut them out ready for use somewhere!

Kew wasn't exactly bright and sunny on Saturday, but it was mild... and the blossom was much more present.

all very pink! but beautiful

Can't promise lots more crafting next week, but probably new goodies!!

Happy WOYWW

WOYWW 818

Happy WOYWW - desk sharing day...

it's been a week of deliveries... new crafting goodies...

first up were some Paperartsy goodies, new stamps, a stencil and 3 more Mattint colours.

I was restrained with this order, as I didn't get everything that was released!

I used some of the Seth Apter stamps in a journal...i was intending to do a light and dark version on the 2 pages but then stamped the darker pink on the light page.... oops oh well as Dina is fond of saying.

talking of Dina, hers was the next delivery - part of her new release (I was restrained with this order too, and didn't get everything!!)

She's been teasing us in her supporter videos on facebook with the ledger journal for a while, and now here it is

its made of the same weight paper as in Dyan Reaveley's journals, nice and thick but cuttable.

there are some blank pages too here and there, but the idea is, that the printed ledger pages remove the "fear of the blank page" syndrome some people have.

Saturday at Kew saw the opening of this year's Orchid Display - and very beautiful it was too - head to the Kew post for lots of pics but here's one or two to tease you...  This year's featured country is Peru

the main display feature
loved the pelicans, there were several

there will be more to come over the next 4 Saturdays - both Kim and I have booked a time slot for each of the Saturdays the festival is on.

thanks for looking, I'll be round to see what you've been up to soon.

WOYWW 813

Welcome back deskers, happy WOYWW and a very happy New Year to you all.   I hope you all had a good Christmas.

Well, 2024 absolutely flew by I think we can all agree.  We've all been through a lot this year, good and bad, but we have been here for each other as always and I know 2025 will be the same.

I was watching Alison Bomber on You Tube the Sunday before Christmas and tracked down some Tim Holtz stamps she'd used... they came the day after Boxing Day, which is pretty good (thanks Buddly Crafts)
I haven't got to play with them yet properly (my intentions stayed on the sofa where I have been chilling...)  but I did at least stamp them all out..

I did get in a bonus trip to Kew so there was Saturday's normal trip  (here)

where about the only colour came from Goldie...

and on Monday where it was a bit brighter

both inside and out.

I am writing this on New Year's Eve and it sounds as if it is raining; (glad I only ever watch the fireworks from the sofa);  and the wind is picking up too... I hope you are all keeping safe .

(it isn't raining, it's just windy)

I have to make a birthday card for my brother; so I will do that in between visiting desks later.  Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 802

Welcome back deskers, it's time for WOYWW again, now with the lovely Sarah at the helm.

I carried on with the journal page using the Mattints... Jan wanted to know a bit more about them.   they are not paints, but water based transparent glazes with colour added.  You can use them like paints, you can use them to seal things, you can use them as adhesive. (not tried that bit yet but Paperartsy have) You can blend the colours together (there are 12 so far, and I think one more set of 4 to come)

so this was the one layer of Mattint on the page that I showed last week
and with a second (or third) coat

and some stamping (had to use some of the Seth Apter mini stamps..

and some more stamping!  Sorry about the light on this final picture, it's dark as I took this after I realised I hadn't taken the last stage so far.

that's where it's got to.  It will at some stage have a focal point on it

I went shopping again too,  Dina had some more new releases.

I ordered them (from Art From the Heart) and thought - oh that'll go through the letterbox, send them to home not work...

err..  maybe not as it happens

I got home from work on  Monday just as the postman was driving off having not got a reply at the door... drat!

Luckily on Tuesday they tried again and left the box tucked behind one of the wheelie bins by the front door.

this is what was in it... I thought... tags, stencils,  they're flat, they'll put them in a jiffy bag and bingo, through the letterbox!

so I've not had time to play yet...

Kew on Saturday was overcast but not cold,  and Kim and I found some colour still...

gotta love some trees in autumn!

and some mushrooms!

I'd better leave it there,  wishing you all a happy WOYWW see you soon!

WOYWW 800

Welcome to WOYWW - week 800.  what a milestone!   Sarah asked us to share the week we first joined in with this desk-filled fun... I had trouble searching back but found a post from February 2010 which I think is  when i first joined in  back in the early ish days at Julia's .  Not a lot has changed  - still working on the floor, still buying lots of stuff!

I found an earlier week from 27 January 2010 when I commented but couldn't link due to not having gone digital so that was my first week almost joining in!   We are so lucky these days to have the linky tool, it makes it so much easier!  Thank you to Julia for starting this fun, and Sarah for taking it over.

This week I have...... made a start on backgrounds for Christmas cards... yes, really!

first off I went for a painted background and stamped images (Tim Holtz stamps, a rare outing these days)
and then I went back to my more usual masterboard style.
I think the snowflake shape was a Paperartsy stamp and the yellow swirly things are an Inkadinkadoo Christmas set
it wouldn't be me on a WOYWW especially for a big week special, if there weren't new stuff to share... from last week's Paperartsy release week.

restrained I think!  the ledger patterned tissue was a must have and so were the new Mattints (not paints, matte tints,  glazes)  brings their numbers to 12 now I think.

and some new Seth Apter mini stamps.

and finally... Kew.

it was as you know the last 8am entry till next May - the only thing going for that is a bit of extra sleep and not waking at 5 to leave at 6...

it was a glorious day, sunny, (cold to start but warmed up) and Kim and I had great fun... all the photos on the link above (lots!) here's a taster.

there was a touch of grass frost but amazing shadows...

we couldn't resist having fun one last time with the sculptures.  Marc Quinn, you have been a blast at Kew this summer!

Till next week, happy WOYWW and happy crafting.
