Crafty Boots - Remembrance

Hello, welcome back to another challenge from Crafty Boots - it was my own choice of theme for this fortnight, and coming a day after Remembrance Sunday, and on Armistice Day itself, I couldn't have anything else.... you can make whatever you choose, but it must be in Remembrance of something or someone.

I decided on a card, and a Stamp in the Hand poppies stamp, which I coloured with Festive Berries and Mowed Lawn distress inks, and Black Soot for the centres.

I typed part a line of the poem The Fallen that is always read at Remembrance services on a piece of thin card and 3d mounted it to the card, adding my poppy too.

Crafty Boots - Autumn

Morning, readers. This fortnight's theme for the Crafty Boots challenge is chosen by Zoe, and she's asked us to interpret "autumn" be it in colour, or theme ( like pumpkins, she suggests)

I have taken to my journal, my go to point when time is short and I don't have a clue what I am going to do this time... lol!

I used a variety of autumnally coloured paints by Paperartsy (Fresco's of course) and applied them in a drifting sort of pattern across both pages. Of course I forgot to take step by step photos..

 so here is one after I had also applied some Grunge Paste through the "art is" crafters workshop stencil, randomly over the page

Stamped some leaves (Paperartsy) in Orange Blossom archival ink (Wendy Vecchi for Ranger)
and added some die cut leaves .

Brushed some Pan Pastels over the stencilling, only owing to the awful light it doesn't show up....

Wrote on the page with a dip pen and Bombay Ink in black.

Crafty Boots - it's Hallowe'en time!

Welcome to another challenge from Crafty Boots - Dionne wants us to embrace Hallowe'en.. I don't have any Hallowe'en stamps and very little suitable stash.... but recently bought the Rickety House die and was given some die cuts of the raven and cat....

I painted the page with a mixture of Autumn Fire and Tango, and Eggplant Fresco's, and added the die cuts...

Crafty Boots - Sweet Treats

Welcome to another Crafty Boots challenge - this time the theme is picked by Lisette

She would like you to show us sweet treats - cakes, cupcakes, lollipops, gingerbread... I freely admit this isn't my normal sort of style, but as luck would have it, Jo Firth-Young has just launched some more stamps with Paperartsy - and one of them is a cupcake.... how well timed is that, and more so that I grabbed on at Ally Pally last week....

A quick, simple card from me as I have been away this weekend just gone, and had very little time!

I painted some Sherbert Fresco paint on some white card, and stamped the image onto it with black archival ink... To make the icing on the cupcake white again, I used my white Sharpie pen.  Trimmed it and mounted it on a card blank.

I've made a folded tag this fortnight.

I've used the Dylusions Jumble alphabet stencil and Distress Ink (bundled sage) for the background, and my new Bombay Inks for the writing

The apple stamp is by A Stamp in the Hand, and again I've used Distress inks, blending them after stamping with a damp paintbrush.   The fountain pen stamp is by Just for Fun.

Crafty Boots - It's Christmas!! in August....

Hi all. My teamie Sandra, for Crafty Boots, wants us to celebrate Christmas early this year... It goes against the grain a bit, to be honest as I can't get in the Christmas swing till - oh, November normally, lol!! But in the event I had bought a  new Christmas background stamp at a show last month so it seemed appropriate to give it an inking..

I took a deckle-edged card blank and stamped my background (it's a clear stamp by Woodware) in red archival ink and then added a Christmas tree (Denami designs) which I stamped on a piece of thinnish white card with Pine Cone ink by Versacolor. I cut it out and scribbled a glue pen over the tree, adding some microfine glitter. Glitter, AND Christmas, in August... eek!!    Still, it's one off the list for later in the year!

Die Cuts - Crafty Boots Challenge

Hi, welcome to another challenge from Crafty Boots. It was my turn to choose the theme this fortnight and at the time I picked it, I was all fired up with ideas.... shame I didn't sit down and make something right away then...

Anyhow, my current favourite die is the Prim Poppy by Memory Box - so elegant!

I made a tag, using a background I had previously done with some Paperartsy Fresco paints following a challenge on their blog (using up resources, right?!)

this was the background - I had been scraping paint (Limelight, South Pacific and Ice Blue) on a journal page and this was the leftover scrapings

 I had several of the poppies cut out from black card and they add a touch of drama against the background.

The white birds were given me by a friend - also a Memory Box die I believe (I need to get this one too!) and they looked kind of cute sitting on the poppies..

Crafty Boots - Animals

Time for another Crafty Boots challenge - Bev has chosen the theme of animals.

I decided to use an old favourite stamp (and quite a hunt for it there was too, as I forgot which drawer of stamps it was in!)

Anyhow, I also decided to revisit an old technique that I've not done for a long time either, a shadow box card. This about the only time I measure anything when I'm cardmaking!

 I used distress inks on the background and stamped the giraffe couple (aren't they sweet!) - the stamp is by Stampendous in sepia archival ink onto the background.

the fern fronds are also by Stampendous.

Stamped the giraffes again on white card and cut out to mount onto the front of the frame.

Crafty Boots Challenge - Music

Welcome back to a new challenge for Crafty Boots - the theme of Music is chosen by my teamie Sara.

However, I have failed somewhat because when I went to upload my entry on the DT site, I re-read Sara's original instructions.. which read "include your favourite song, group, musical event or musical instrument on a tag or scrap book page" Oh dear....because I made a card... Hope I'm forgiven and you do better at reading than me!!   Perhaps I should have just pretended this was a scrapbook page!  (I have checked with Sara and she's fine with this - so now you have another option to go for along the music theme!)

I stuck Tim Holtz tissue tape to a piece of white card, using Matte Accents glue, and tore the edges, then added Mowed Lawn and Vintage Photo distress ink to colour it.  The composers stamp is an old old stam I've had for years, stamped on white card and lightly inked with Vintage Photo. I mounted this with 3d foam pads.   The piano keyboard is a piece of ribbon I bought specially at the Newbury artstamps show on Saturday (nothing like last minute crafting is there!) and is fixed with double sided tape.  The violin is another stamp I've had ages.

You have two weeks to enter this challenge, as usual.

Crafty Boots - Anything But a Square

The delightful Faye sets the theme for the Crafty Boots challenge this fortnight, "anything but a square" and I decided to go for something a little different (certainly for a while)

I took a giant jigsaw shape and painted it with Paperartsy Fresco paints, firstly in Stone to give it a base coat, and then stencilled some Grunge Paste through the reverse chickenwire stencil (the crafters workshop) - this is still one of my favourites, and it takes the Grunge Paste so well.

 I then covered the whole piece with Pansy using a brush and once that was dry, added a little Eggplant over the stencilled areas

before highlighting it further with Moonlight.

I took a fabric flower which just happened to be white edged with purple and painted a bottle cap (first Little Black Dress, then Moonlight, then a very light layer of Eggplant) and made a hole through it for the game spinners.

Added the sentiment (Wendy Vecchi) and some toning Prima flowers.

Crafty Boots - Rainbows

If it's Bank Holiday where you are, I hope you are having a lovely time...

The new Crafty Boots challenge, set by Emma M, is "rainbows".   I decided that I would make a rainbow coloured tag and reached for my Dylusions sprays as they are such bright lovely colours and ideal for this.

I knew I couldn't spray a proper rainbow so I went for random sprays filling the tag. I tried to stick vaguely to proper rainbow colours!

After the base colours on the tag were dry, I took the Roman Letters stencil (crafters workshop) and the White Linen Dylusion spray, and then stamped the border stitching (from Inbetweenies by Dylusion stamps) in black ink.

I had some pre-stamped hearts (I Love Lucy set by Dylusions) which I cut out and sprayed with the  Funky Fuschia spray.
I threaded them on some thin fusewire, bending them to fit the tag and used double sided tape to both hold the hearts together and fix them to the tag.

I stamped the text (from Quintessential Quotes by Dylusions) on white card, sprayed it with Calypso Teal Dylusion and cut out, then stuck onto scrap white card.  Finished it off with a piece of fuschia ribbon tied in a bow.
