WOYWW 688

Wow, Wednesday again already!  Time for another get together at the Stamping-Ground for WOYWW...

I hope you're all keeping well and surviving the heat.  Not happy to see the temperatures creeping up again this week!

so this week I bought some (more) new stamps launched by Dina Wakley on the 1st.

I stamped them on some cardstock
and then used one of the faces in a journal page
slightly staged shot whilst watching the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games - have really enjoyed watching, mostly the athletics, but also the diving  and I caught some highlights before I went to Kew last Saturday of the rhythmic gymnastics which was fabulous

this is a close up from the shot above... one of the sets of stamps over a painted swatch.

the intention was to have it in a journal page by now.... ah well.

Not my idea, saw it on you-tube.

and finally, if you didn't see it on Saturday, the link for last week at Kew.

hibiscus, the size of a dinner plate, growing outside the Palm House.

I'll be round when i can  - but may be later than usual as it is hair cut/colour after work so I'll be home late.

Love how you stamped over paint swatches. I didn't watch much of the games but I did get to see some Badminton on TV with them, which is unusual. Yes the diving and some gymnastics too. I guess with iPlayer, I know I can always have a look anytime so less likely to sit and watch when live. Hmmmm Defeats object somewhat. Missed the closing ceremony must check it out. BJ#1

You were quick off the mark! I was up ridiculously early - 5.15 - the price I pay for an early night! Still lit's a beautiful morning and I shall have an early (and cool) walk about 7.30. Haven't seen any of the Games or even watched much telly - the living room is often the hottest place in the house so I feel disinclined to go in there and don't really bother with tv unless I'm in there. Need to pick your brains about getting up to Shrewsbury!! Happy WOYWW, love and hugs Cindy xx #5

Love the stamping over paint, great idea. I can’t imagine a hibiscus as big as a dinner plate - amazing! I didn’t watch any of the games, I have been doing a lot of reading though. Happy WOYWW. Angela #6

I'm with you, not a lover of the heat as I like to keep busy and it's difficult when it's so hot. Loving the new stamps they are different and I know you will enjoy using them. I've watched bits of the games but our new puppy has kept me busy so had some distractions from watching TV. Gosh the months are shooting past right now, can't wait for October and the Crop. Take care and have a very happy woyww, Angela x9x

Ah hibiscus…speaking to me of far flung hot places and happy times. I love ‘em! What a fab bunch of photos from Kew again, the silver daisies are like paper aren’t they. I like the Dina stamps on the colour patches, what a good idea. Shows them up really well! I hope the journey into work isn’t too much of a slog for you, I’m not a fan of humid heat, so I feel for you. As I type, I’m just sitting in the shade of early morning garden, trying to make the most but if I’m honest, a tad cool!!

I watched none of the games, although we did watch the Lionesses win, which was lovely to see. For the first time I am not very tempted by the Dina release, but knowing me all that will soon change after seeing you make loads of lovely pages with them. Probably just in time for them to be sold out... :D
Determined to DO BETTER this week!

Oh I am glad you reminded me that I have a hair cut later today too Helen. I must admit that I didn't see much of the Games but I can claim to have been in the long jump pit in the Alexander Stadium in 2011 helping with a school sports' day. Have fun with the rest of those stamps - the journal page looks great. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #12

I loved the Commonwealth Games and watched a lot of different events - the two young booked doing the beach volleyball was fun to see, oo-er missus!! Great new stamps, you’ll have fun with those and I’m not looking forward to the high temps either… Keep hydrated!

Ah, I didn’t get to watch any, wrong time of the day on our free to air and is not on my paid TV cos don’t have it 😂😂 more pennies for craft you see.. and you’ve put yours to good use p, Helen, I’m impressed you’ve inked them and used them, well done!
Our hibiscus are that big too and are in our front garden, one is bright red called emperor of Japan. Dad struck it in 1974 and I’ve grown babies for folks from it too.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Hi Helen! It's always fun to play with new stamps! I have a few Dina Wakely stamps, but currently not my favourite. The images are nice though! I have a hibiscus that we keep indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer, which graces us with it's flowers when it wants to. So far this summer it's not in the mood :-( I can't imagine a flower the size of a dinner plate! I'll have to show it to my hibiscus to give it some incentive... Have a great week, Inky, Mittsy and Lindart #19

Love the paint swatch idea, now I could do to use that sometime if you don't mind.
Oh Helen, I do not like this heat - if it is like this on Saturday will you still go to Kew. I need to be cooler than being out of doors.
Hugs, Neet xx

A bit of crafting somewhere cool is the answer to this hot weather - unless you have to go to work of course and then it's no fun! Love what you did with the new stash. That hibiscus is awesome! xx Jo

Hi Helen. Great having new stash. I hate the heat makes me really miserable and causes prickly heat which sends me insane. The Commonwealth Games was just down the road from me. I watched on TV. My friend was in the choir, I could have attended the dress rehearsal and the closing ceremony but decided I wouldn't cope, sad but true now. Our youngest son and family went to the opening and said it was amazing. The Hibiscus is so beautiful. Anne x 14
