Back to what I do best for WOYWW today... (What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday) especially as Shaz is not here (we wish you well Shaz and hope you are back with us soon) - ENABLING.
I gave in and bought the original Dina Wakley journal, which has kraft pages, burlap (heavy duty stuff this, thicker than in the blue journal) cotton rag watercolour paper and canvas.I have tried to artfully present the journal so you can see several of the surfaces!!
I have been waiting for the stamp set to be back in stock (it's called Funny Peeps) it's really grown on me seeing it in you tube videos!
the paint is a pretty shade called Heather.
I had some play time at the weekend too and finished off some of the part done journal pages in the blue journal
this is on one of the denim pages (yes, Jan, real denim fabric)Julia, the fabric will soak up paint/ink but I will probably use a layer of gesso first when I get to use the thinner fabrics in the new journal!
this is on the lightweight burlap in the blue journal
and this is covering over something I didn't like on the heavyweight cotton paper
There is another parcel on the way - well, ordered, I am waiting to hear about despatch - was kind of hoping it might arrive in time for this week's desk but I only ordered it on Saturday night or maybe Sunday, so not surprising.
Happy desk sharing day. I'll be round to see you soon!

Nice enabling and pages Helen. I can recommend the Amsterdam transparent gesso for fabric pages. I use it on my handmade paper and it takes all sorts of paint and ink. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?
I like the enabling you have done this week and can understand you going back to the original journal.
Happy days to you
Hugs, Neet xx
I ended up buying a few stamps form AFTH. Thanks to you, I'm sure. I have two more sets I am keen on, one is the little quad of quirky people that I see here! I did get some NOT-Dina faces you might see on my blog today. Quite like them as well, not used them yet. As even your pages make me smile.
FYI not sure your link on WOYWW is correct. Check it, in case it is just me....
Happy WOYWW to all!

Morning Helen. Yes, your link went to a blank page, but clicking on "home" got me to the right place, no problem. Glad you managed some play time last weekend. I haven't managed anything like that since before Christmas - but I'll get there - eventually! Well done on finishing the pages, and changing the one you weren't happy with. That takes courage! Good for you.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Helen. I really love your book with fabric pages...it floats my boat.
Hugs,

Those journals are something else aren't they?! I'm hoping for some play time with my daughter this weekend - it's great for us both even though I find the process hard sometimes if I'm not copying something that already exists. I can't just see what comes up for myself! Loving those stamps too - between you and Mary-Anne you might just get me using mine! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #2
Hi Helen, well done with the pages and I look forward to seeing how you use the new journal as I got one ages ago and sadly I have to admit it is still unused. Can't wait to see the new goodies it just makes me so happy when the postman arrives. Have a very happy woyww, Angela x16x
I am resisting your enabling. But I am intrigued by these fabric pages. Looks like you're keeping busy but I bet you are missing Kew. It is so wet here I can't walk in my local park as no hard paths (well I guess I could wear wellies but hate cleaning them). It's not the same just walking on the concrete streets, I'd rather stay in. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love Cindy xx #19
So it’s real denim, interesting - I was going to ask how it affected the ink soaking in but you answered that in your next statement to Julia! Great journal pages again, you always have something interesting to look at!
And hear hear to Shaz enabling again, I miss her.

These books are getting more and more amazing! I think it’s working that causes you to have crafty downtime actually, when you were at home over the Christmas hol you didn’t seem to be nearly as busy! I was going to comment about the shame in having to gesso the denim pages when I saw Sarah’s post about transparent gesso. Well there’s a good idea!!
So how long did you actually resist? LOL
Great pages and love how you covered over something you didn't like, good for you. My son used to paint lovely pictures as a kid and then paint over with black and present me with a black page!!! BJ#25
I love your pages, Helen - I always do! The new albums with the pages made of different and unusual materials are fascinating. I haven't seen anything like that before. This is true mixed media stuff, isn't it! I love what you are doing with them.
Happy WOYWW,

HI Helen, that sounds like a really cool journal to use with all the different textiles in it. ( I actually have sheets of denim "paper" that has some kind of backing on it) :) I should dig it out some time. ~Stacy #30
Your pages are awesome! Those stamps were worth waiting for!

Loving your new goodies and the pages are fantastic! Happy WOYWW. I hope that you have a good week. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#10)
Your pages are looking fabulous and I love denim pages - I think I said before that I have the original one in burlap and Kraft and I love it - I see you've been tempted to get that one, I'm on the verge of getting the blue one!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,
Diana xx #23
I look forward to you telling us which surface you like best out of your new journal. Have a great week Angela #17
Wonderful pages in your journal... the Dina Wakley stamps are working so well on the different surfaces and amidst the colours and stencilling creating depth and beauty in the background.
So sorry I've been such a bad blogging friend - it was all so non-stop full-on for the last few months of 2020 (outside of pandemic stuff) and I think I'm only really catching up with myself now... and there's still all the unpacking to come if I ever get my floors! I guess I'll get there eventually.

Hi! Terrific new pages and new journal :) Denim pages sound interesting to play on.. I'm new to journaling but hope to create more this way in the future "Refuse to be ordinary" love that! Enjoy your week ~ Love, Karen#27
Thank you for your return visit, Helen. I agree, the gift of that quilt quite restored my faith in human nature! When all we seem to get is bad news, the unsung heroes of the world really shine out. I'm thinking of Captain Sir Tom in this context too. How anyone can slag him off is beyond me. I agree that Shaz and Doug have been through enough already and what is happening is just so awful. I do feel for them both.

Thanks for your visit. The car's going in tomorrow, The makers are saying its a fault that they will pay for! As there's been many others with this sudden problem. But of course the garage hasn't heard of this! Hope your goodies arrived soon, I posted two goodie boxes off yesterday and they got there by today. So that was good! (The Postman must have wings!) Your painted pages are looking very creative! Keep Crafting! Stay Safe! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #20
I love seeing your journal pages. And yes, you are an enabler! LOL. Thanks for your earlier visit and have a great week!! Dorlene #31
Lovely Journal pages and we done for using real denim.
Take care and stay safe,

HI Helen, I do like the sound of the different surfaces in your new journal. Like you I would put a layer of gesso on the fabric, works wonders on a whole range of surfaces. Nice to be back :)

Wonderful pages Helen the enabler! So tempted to buy another Dina original journal, although I have a few Seawhite ones I got on offer from Hobbycraft. It's fun to work on different surfaces.

Plenty of interesting work going on here today - love how the pages are turning out.
And wise words indeed "You can do anything, but you can't do everything", Something I think I need to take on board!

Thanks for your visit Helen. Like the look of those stamps! I haven't dared using the denim pages yet in my journal - but I did do a painting on denim workshop with Niamh Baly (on a pair of old jeans...)
Happy WOYWW!
Stay safe and keep well!
I am hoping to visit everyone this week – unfortunately last week I just couldn’t make it…

Calling All Crafters! – My Blog!
Helen, you do a great bit of ENABLING all on your own!! LOLOL I do love what you have been showing us about this journal and it's making me want to check it out! I have plenty of journals, of course, but what's one more, right? LOL Your layouts are gorgeous, full of great layering and colors that speak to me! Great job Helen! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment....10 man tent, by the way, is AWESOME and not really as big as you think! LOL Blessings to you and stay safe! Felicia #28
Ho Helen, finally got here, so sad to have read about Shaz we need to keep her & Doug firmly in our thoughts. The mixed media page journals look awesome with their fabric pages but I have so many untouched, like new school books I find making marks on new pages very difficult. Those stamps look very happy, love what you've done today.
Wishing you a great weekend, i'm hoping to get some paint on paper today Yay!! Take care Hugs Tracey xx
Great pages, looks like you had lots of fun! The journal sounds very cool with all those different papers! Thanks for your visit, have a great week, and stay safe! Lindart #33
So glad to have a chance to catch up with all these fabulous pages... looks like you're on a real Dina-kick.
I'm envious of your craft shopping - it's going to be a whole different ballgame over here in terms of what I can get and how long it's going to take to arrive. Sigh. Just as well I'll get to unpack my boxes some time soon - it'll be like "shopping my stash" on steroids as I discover everything again!!
