WOYWW 513

As we always say, another week has flown by and it's time for another meeting of desks at Julia's The Stamping-Ground
I don't have any new stuff to share this week, I'm still trying to find the stamps I want in stock!

I have done a (very) little crafting though..
several months ago I tried out a new stencil on a journal page - it's a mish mash of X's little hearts and that round criss-cross design.
I added to it with some more colours

before stamping the big JoFY flower I used on my friend's birthday card last week...
and then painted the painted the page black, leaving the pattern on the flowers

I think I photographed this page before I added some white pen doodling round the flowers and the sentiment...
More doodling will follow I expect!

I took another look at the page you all liked last time and I said I hadn't.... in daylight, it did look much better!

and I really do like the texture in this circle!

so maybe all wasn't lost...

I decided to add some more stencilling, using the scripty stencil from the other week...  I turned it round different directions to add a bit more interest

I love that archival ink (Thistle) - it's such a rich plummy colour.

I received a delivery of a different (non-crafty!) sort at work on Friday - a huge bunch of flowers from a grateful client.

the lilies smell gorgeous, every time I come in the room it hits me again.
I know some people can't tolerate the fragrance of lilies, but I love it!

It wouldn't have been Saturday if I hadn't gone to Kew last weekend. and what a fabulously warm sunny day it was!  Take a "quick" look at the pictures here
Happy WOYWW !

Love the pattern peeping through those flowers and the rest of the page black Helen. It's such a great technique and those large flowers are perfect for it. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

It must be lovely to see those flowers when you walk into the room. They do kick off my hayfever/allergy but i still think they are a lovely flower and wish I could tolerate them more.
Love your circle page - probably drawn to the texture which is just perfect, but i also like the new stencil you havek used with the crosses and hearts etc.
Keep doing your backgrounds - you do them so well.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx
ps off to visit you at kew now

Hi Helen, the black page is quite striking. I would never have thought to do that, but it really looks great. I love lillies, probably because they were a favourite of my mother. I'm pleased you now like your journal page, the texture is very effective. Have a lovely week Heather x #14

I really love how we can see the texture you've put into your pages on these photos. I also love the pic of your lillies but I'm one who can't tolerate the fragrance....it triggers off my asthma sadly cos I love the smell of them.

I keep looking at what all you lovely ladies do with stencils, inks and paper and think I must pick up mine again, but somehow I always seem to end up with a needle and thread in my hands haha

Hi Helen, I'm with you on lilies. I adore the smell, but Dougs not so keen, and my son Ant loathes it. Reason being, when he had his chemo, the wards had many vases of lilies- an attempt to mask the chemo & sickness smells he said- that he really hates them now. Love how the journal page turned out, that texture sort of makes it look like a planet. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #1 X

Thank you for visiting me every week even when I don't manage to get to comment on your posts.
How wonderful to receive flowers! Thoughtful colours as well, they would look good in anyone's room.

HI Helen, ooh I love how that changes the page when you painted the black behind the blooms, and that display of lilies is gorgeous. ( I have too many allergies so, I always leave my flowers growing but, my gma was a florist so, displays always make me smile) ~Stacy #27

What a fab gesture from your client - it really makes a difference when you know your work is appreciated. Well done you! I like the additions you’ve made to the journal page, and I think the texture is much more evident with the words on. Like the pattern that ended up on the flowers too...you should show Paperartsy how that came about too!

Hi Helen, I love that technique of painting round a design with black paint. I also love the lilies but always cut the stamens off to stop all that orange pollen covering everything. I know it spoils the look a bit but I think the flowers last longer too. Have a lovely woyww, Angela x15x

Fabulous art and beautiful flowers, although I'm one of those who can't abide the smell of lilies!

I'm loving your pages, Helen! I still like the circles one and so glad you have come round to it too! Just beautiful. Also what gorgeous flowers and so nice that someone was grateful and told you so in such a lovely way. Thank you for your visit and I'm so relieved you could see all the pictures! I'm going to try and get the others to stick on the earlier posts but can't guarantee anything because I still don't know what the problem is. Thank you for your good wishes for my appointment next week - it will be interesting, whatever the outcome! The trouble with dental phobia is that the longer you leave it, the worse the experience is. Not that that helps - I know - these things aren't exactly logical, are they! Our dentist always rubs some gel on first to numb the place before he does the injection so you don't feel it nearly so much, and that really helps. My teeth have really settled down now and not hurting any more which is a huge relief. Long may it last.

Hi Helen, the JoFY flowers look very effective against the black painted background. And I like the addition of words to last week's page - the ink is a gorgeous colour. How lovely to be so appreciated by a client - the bouquet is gorgeous. I like lilies but mostly leave them to grow in the garden because of the strong perfume. Have a good week. Elizabeth x #31

Awesome bouquet! How lovely that someone shows their gratitude like that....though you can keep the lilies, I can't hack the pong! Intestersting journal pages, I like the way you painted over with black to leave the flowers, very clever.

So, so behind... but happy to have a bit of time today for some catching up. I always think it's so brave when I see people painting black over the top of a whole page, but it has really paid off here. The flowers look fabulous, and I can imagine with lots of white doodling it will be even better. The textured circle is completely fantastic - love, love it! And I'm going to have to go and find some Thistle Archival ink now... Your flowers are lovely.

HI Helen, I love seeing your art journal pages, they're so inspiring. The lilies look beautiful, but I am one of those who cannot bear their fragrance, strange isn't it? Have a lovely weekend :o) Annie C #12

Love how these came out. I agree on the Thistle. There just do not seem to be enough 'purple' tones out there to work with. I was thrilled with Stampin' UP! gave us Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape last season. BTW, I only got 10 cards but I was happy with those 10. Pictures on Wednesday. :-) Creative Blessings!
