WOYWW 500 - quite a milestone

So here we are, the first Wednesday of the New Year, 2019.... The first WOYWW of the year.  and what a WOYWW  week 500..  all those desks we've shared with Julia over the years...  and it's time to go back to work after the Christmas and New Year break.

Let's start with a desk.  (if only!)
the break from work passed in a flash, and I didn't spend more than about ten minutes doing anything remotely crafty...

the page on the left was mostly done already, I just added some offcuts of masterboards I'd left over from Christmas cards and the right is a mishmash of layers covering a failed go at the string pulled through ink thing (been there for months, decided it was time to cover it up.
No before or during pics...
Santa brought some nice goodies, some socks (secret santa from work) a book from a series I'm reading and distress oxides (another secret santa I organised between my small group of crafting buddies)

a bottle of Kew gin from my boss - and the watch, which I bought with some of the money (present come bonus) she gave me;  a tin of G&T cookies from my cousin,

and the rest is from my brother and sister-in-law.

everything else I couldn't get out of the picture is the normal "stuff" that lives around me and which didn't get tidied away...(it was a very vague thought....)

had a very lazy time of it, one trip to Kew (click for the pics) after I had Christmas Day  (click for the pics) with my brother, coming home earlier on Boxing Day than perhaps I'd thought - their heating packed up so it was cold!   I toyed with the idea of going to Kew yesterday (new year's day) but there weren't many trains running and I woke with a headache so have yet to get my first trip of the year in - that will be Saturday!

it will be a shock to the system waking up at work time today (well tomorrow; as usual I am getting this ready the night before) - or at least, having to get up when I wake up at work time!
I hope you have all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year if you celebrate either or both,  and I am sure we raise a toast to Julia for keeping this fabulous desk hop going week in week out for so long.

It's been part of my life for so long now and I count myself lucky to have met and befriended many of you for real, and virtually for the rest of you!   I'll find your desk as soon as I can!

Happy New Year!! I'm glad you had a good Christmas, hope your brother's boiler has been fixed by now. They always fail at the coldest time of the year! Hope work isn't too arduous, you do seem to have a lovely boss, nice gifts from her. Hope to see you at Crop Ten in June!

Morning Helen. A happy and blessed new year. Yum - green and blacks chocs!! That book looks good - what's the series called?? Sorry you had to break your Christmas celebrations a few hours early - trust your brother's heating is now working! It's a real thick frost here this morning. I really like that green coloured page - even though you feel it started as a failure... It's good.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Helen,I keep meaning to try that string pulling, pretty sure my attempts will either go in the bin or get covered up. How do they make it look so easy? lol. Love the greeny/blues you covered it with. Happy New Year, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

Lovely gifts, Helen, you did do well...is that a Ken Follett series you’re reading? What a pretty watch too...I like a watch, I have rather a collection. I’m surprised your brother and his family didn’t trot home with you, I can’t bear being without heating! I didn’t do a lot of crafting but as you saw, I did tidy my desk! I wonder if you’ll acquire a desk and space for it this year...operation Rescue Helena’s knees!!!

Hi Helen, Lovely presents.

Love the colours in your journal pages.

Glad you made it to Kew, but a shame you didn't make it yesterday. Hope you make it Saturday.

A shame you had to cut your holiday short with your brother.

Hope work went ok.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Love your journal pages Helen, great background work on them both.
My word, you certainly got some lovely presents and I had to smile when you said you had a headache - I was thinking of the gin you had bought and the biscuits too. overindulgence?
Only kidding, but who cares, it's Christmas.
Have a wonderful year ahead of you and take many many photos from your adored kew.

Wowzer - the texture on those pages looks so amazing! Even ten minutes of crafting is so worth it! Great looking gloat table of goodies. Hope the return to work is not too traumatic...

Oh, and if it helps with the stamp, it's Impression Obsession Birds on Trees CC102. Happy Shopping!

Good to know you had a happy time over Christmas - hope that heating gets fixed soon - doesn't it always happen when you least want it too! I am so late getting round desks and missed last week all together! Happy New Year - hope we see you at Crop Ten in June! xx Jo

Lovely pages, Helen, and I'm glad you had a good time with family over Christmas. Thank you for your visit, and I didn't think your floor was boring at all! I think a lot of people had pretty bare desks for the big 500th celebration because of when it happened and people were so busy with other things. Sorry to be so long replying but we seem to have been very busy lately and I've got pretty tired too, and everything's got a bit neglected!

Happy New Year and happy belated 500th WOYWW,
