WOYWW 478

Happy Wednesday once again.   time to re-group for desks with Julia at WOYWW   -    Since we last met, we've had some rain and some blissfully cooler, more normal summer temperatures... and I've been trying to catch up with a few of my layers for ALAD/ASAW for France Papillon's facebook group... I am about 5 weeks behind oops...
this one is more or less finished, I might add one final layer (splatters, can't beat splatters!) and then I'll share it with the group.
the theme for this week was "message to the world" - part of the reason I fell so far behind (apart from the awful heat) was not knowing what to do .... I was rummaging through my stencils when i came across this one by Stencil Girl that I've had ages and not used.   so my message to the world, is Art is Good For You!  It was good to get painty again, shame the forecast here is set to hot up again into the low 30s by the weekend..

to save this being the shortest ever desk post, here's a couple of my favourite pics from last weekend's trip to Kew!    more here
 yes, those are rain drops!

thanks for stopping by, have a great week.

Like the page and the message! Cannot believe the difference in weather - yesterday I was cool and had to wear a cardigan - in fact visiting cardiology I wore my jeans - come up north if the heat is bothering you, it's mu,ch cooler here and dull and raining is the order of the day today. Better still, send us some of that lovely sunshine we've forgotten what it is like already.

Happy WOYWW. I love the message on your journal page. I seem to have totally lost my 'messy crafting bug', but my paints etc will wait until I feel like getting my apron on again (which is usually in the winter and I like to hibernate in my cosy craft room). Come to Pembrokeshire if you want some more comfortable temperatures (normally around 21 degrees, which is pleasant in the sunshine). I bet that the gardeners at Kew are very happy to have some rain finally. Ali x #7

Helen it's looking very organised in this area, looks like you'd be able to find precisely what you needed for your page. Love those words.. makes for a great page.
Lets hope the rise in temperature is a little more tolerable than before, the air certainly smells fresher after the rain.

What a gorgeous page, Helen. Such lovely cool colours and a great quote too. I heartily agree with the sentiment and already feel better having managed a small amount of art myself this week. I am another sucker for spatters lol! They really make a piece. Your Kew photos are stunning, particularly the first one. I agree about the weather - much better now it’s cooler but the change in atmospheric pressure has given me a bad headache for days...

Yes, I heartily agree that Art is good for you, we should all be able to spend more time getting messy doing art.

Art is definitely good for us all. I’ve not had any time to be creative this week with my workload but thankfully I’m off for a week now so will enjoy some chill out time before we meet again.

Yep, I agree that Art is Good for You, though I'd add Music to that as well and it seems such a shame that these two subjects are the first to be cut back in education. Sigh. I agree with you about enjoying the cooler temps, bliss and I loved the rain too!!

Art is absolutely good for you Helen; great message to the world. I am enjoying the normal low 20s that we usually get in summer far more than the heat. Beautiful photos from Kew! Have a great week. Sarah #19

Thanks for your return visit, Helen. I'm looking forward to doing something with all that old music. I hope your DOs come soon. They are very good for altering horrible papers because they are so nice and opaque. I hummed and hah'ed for ages before deciding to get mine and have never looked back. I adore them. What you don't get from pictures is the gorgeous silky finish they leave on the paper which feels so nice. I have discovered that there is no paper in your stash, however horrible, that can't be improved with a few layers of this and that. I'm really glad I never threw that lot away all those years ago. All I need now is a decent amount of time to spend playing. I seem to have been so busy with other things lately, and managing to do just a small amount has made me realise how hungry I am to do more.

Great pages Helen, and a great message too. You can never have too many splatters in my opinion so go for it - they look good and I love the satisfied feeling of flinging paint and ink around!
I'm off to visit your Kew pics now, have a great week,

Hi Helen, I might be mistaken but your 'desk' is looking super tidy this week. Nice page in your journal - splatters are good. Great shot of the lily - oranges are the colours I associate with the end of summer. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #31

I'm about five weeks behind with life!! Breathing space is on the horizon at the end of August and I hope to do some proper catching up then. Loving the look of your ART page there, and the Kew photos are glorious - what amazing colours and composition.... raindrop adoration here.

I got to used to the cooler weather, convinced the kids to walk to the station for the cinema yesterday and got blasted with the heat. I sit and watch the forecasts for Scotland, Ireland and Wales and grumble like hell.

Loving the layers in your book - I bet Kew was amazing in that rain - the few flowers in my pots seemed to be standing so tall.

Hi Helen - am late visiting - had half the church round yesterday... got a bit manic! Love the message and the page. You've been busy in your floor space, too - lots of exciting piles of things to peek at. Thanks for visiting - I've not been to Mull before either, so it will be rather exciting!
Take care. God bless.

That looks like a beautiful art journal page... did you splatter on it? I would probably do that too, sounds like the ultimate finish. And raindrops, OHMY... it is yet another tropical day in the Netherlands but I wanted to thank you for your visit to my desk the other day and pay you a visit back so here I am, sweaty and all, sending you a hug from Holland.
