WOYWW 482

Welcome back to Wednesday... we had a Bank Holiday on Monday here in England & Wales, so I am out of sync with the days... but it is Wednesday (well will be by the time you read this) and time for another WOYWW....   where we lay bare our desks and crafty spaces and what we've been up to since last week....

I somewhat rashly mentioned having time to do some crafting over the Bank Holiday... so of course Saturday was spent at Kew (see pics here)  and Sunday it rained and I should have spent the day crafting...(what happened??)   and Monday I went to London in search of rhinos  (see pics here )  and then it was time for work.

well ok so I did finish one of the facebook challenges for France Papillon (must check that I've uploaded the picture to facebook...)  with some of the new Distress Oxides... which you can see I have unwrapped but not yet found anyway to put them..

I did have them to the right of the earlier two sets (you can just see them in the corner of the photo) but I kept kicking them over coming into the room...)

I did have time to do some crafty shopping but haven't yet had the goods, so they'll be here for next week!  Till then, it's time for some more desk sharing and no doubt lot's more productivity.
Happy WOYWW

In case you want to know more about the rhinos; it's a series of 21 rhinos to raise awareness of the plight of the black rhino - website here (sorry for all the links)

all painted by different artists including Ronnie Wood (yes, that Ronnie Wood)

this was one of my favourites
it really portrays the sadness of the species.

The rhinos will be on show for a month and then in early October, auctioned off to raise money for the Tusk save the rhino charity.

I rather think they will be out of the pocket of "normal" people but I hope they raise lots of money.

Morning Helen. Like the page - gorgeous colour combination. Great rhinos, too. I remember two years ago Cumbria did something similar with Herdwick sheep - John and I went herdy hunting!
Take care. God bless.

I guess you know I won't be back to WOYWW till next week, but I wanted to visit. That last rhino on this page was my fav, as was the one on your photo blog with the lines called Final Cut. I was so impressed that the artist you show on this blog cut the rhino and put it back together to make that sad statement about the rhino. I'm glad you shared it here, because I'm sure some deskers will appreciate these as much as I have, as well as AWESOME photos of London, too.

Even though we are waiting for your new shopping to arrive we can see you have ut your new Oxides to good use. Lovely colourful page.
So there are rhinos dotted about for you to follow, here in Manchester we have the Bees and I must get a move on to see more of them as I can only say I have only seen a smattering as yet. Lovely to see them as it must be to see the rhinos - would love to buy one but as you say, out of the pocket of us mere mortals I guess.
Have a good week.
Hugs, Neet xx

I enjoyed reading about your rhino trip to London - I think it's a very clever way of raising awareness that reaches more people. I liked the landscape one best of all!

Hi Helen, thanks for sharing the rhinos. I wish that I had the money to bid for one of them once the exhibition is over. I can't believe that people are so short sighted. Have a great week. Sarah #18

WOW, love your 2 pages, giving me inspiration to use those Oxides ! And love the Rhinos. I cringe when I see what happens unnecessarily to the animals.
Thanks for posting the photos. Have a good week.

I love your desk with the mountains of inks and jars and artsy stuff! Makes for a very creative desk! Your page is lovely with all those pastel colours! The Rhinos are beautiful, and for a very good cause. You are right though, the average person will probably not be able to buy one, but wouldn't one make a great lawn ornament! We had a similar thing in Toronto, but with Moose. There are (or were) hundreds of painted Moose all over Toronto. Have a great week, Lindart #30

Hi Helen, great pics of the rhinos. We don't get to London very often - I would have loved to see them! I never had Ronnie Wood down as an artist! Have a lovely week Heather x #11

Well, you nearly didn't get a comment at all as I went off at a tangent looking at rhinos - after about 15 minutes down an internet wormhole I suddenly remembered what I was supposed to be doing. I think this may be why nothing ever gets done....that and the internet shopping.......Lovely page on your desk! Thank you for your earlier visit, I'm way behind as I had some visitors today. That’s a lovely page, Helen. Enjoy your new Distress Oxides. I love the rhinos. They are such extraordinary creatures, aren’t they. So unfortunate that people actually think the horns can be beneficial in Chinese medicine etc when all they are is compacted hair. Quite inexcusable for them to be killed almost to extinction because of this ignorance.

Thank you for your comment, and you are absolutely right - getting busier week by week! I do really need to slow down a bit - I shall be shattered next week!! I just don’t want to be too exhausted to enjoy the conference at the weekend.

It sounds like you are the same as me Helen, plan to craft but other things seem to jump in front and take priority. Love the Rhino's and such a worthy fundraising cause. I've seen lots of these monuments decorated over the past few years.
Sorry i'm very late to visit but i'm sure you will forgive me with my present Kitchen Chaos.

The fluorescent paint on your desk really pops out, love that! The black rhino looks indeed sad but what a beautiful 'statue'(? what's the name for it?) After painting (the lilac case) my beloved and I spend some quality time last week going for walks and such so I’m pretty late with my visit, it’s almost weekend already! Enjoy, enjoy. Love from the Netherlands. Marit #20
