WOYWW 374 - not a lot to share

Happy Wednesday once again, time to take part in our weekly desk hopping.. Julia has the linky and info here...

As the title suggests, not much to show today.  been attempting a journal page to fill the space to the left of the one I showed last week.. was aiming for texture and colour mixing (Paperartsy latest challenge) but it's not going how I imagined.. may paint over the whole thing..

it was also very dark when I took this at 8pm on Tuesday - dull and damp, had to put the light on!! in August.. at 8pm... ridiculous!

since I took this picture I've tried to do some white doodling but think my sharpie marker is running out of ink (I have a spare luckily)
so I may indeed, paint over all the colour and start again!
watch, as they say, this space!

I had hoped (was ever thus) to have some new goodies to share with you but the "dispatched" email only came on Tuesday so no doubt the parcel will drop through the letterbox while I am at work ... so next week it will be then!

I get annoyed when my goodies don't arrive on time. Got a new stamp plate yesterday which was part of an order. I had forgotten about it so it was a lovely surprise when it came.
Am sure the journal page will work out.
Yes, will show pictures of the new kitchen when I get things put away - the house is starting to look back to normal but I am a bit precious about my new kitchen. Hope the novelty wears off.
Hugs, Neet xx

I had to put my headlights on when driving to band at 7pm last night - it was so dark driving through the forest, felt like the Autumn!
I like the bright colours you're working with - hope the new goodies turn up soon :-)

Don't you just hate it when orders don't arrive when you hoped? I have little to show in my craft room too this week....I guess life is like that at times :-)
Have a great week.

Morning Helen. Have fun with the goodies when they arrive. I'm like a child in a sweetie shop when parcels come through the door... much to the amusement of the delivery man who tells me he will never simply push things through 'cos he likes to see my smile when he gives them to me!!!!! Oh well, we are only as old as we feel - and I just refuse to grow old!
Take care. God bless.

Hi Helen, I'm hoping making the swatches will help me with colour conbo's, and may actually be the start of me doing some art journalling! lol.We have had a few dark evenings, I agree- whatever happened to the long hot summers we saw as kids, or is my memory just playing tricks? Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #7 xxx

I like the vibrant colors, but maybe they need a bit of toning down to match more with the page on the right, maybe a wash of gesso? Happy WOYWW Vicky #15

I hate it when parcels don't arrive when you expect. Trying to time ordering so they arrive when you're in is a nightmare - I find it stressful. I like the colours you have used - maybe you can do something with it rather than paint over ? Anne x #20

I think your desk is what they call "organized chaos" - it looks great - I love it! Great background too! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #21

I love the anticipation of waiting for a parcel - I hope yours arrives soon. I think your page could be a really good base for a piece of work, but I have learnt that I can never be persuaded to like or compromise on a piece that feels wrong to me, regardless of what other people say!!
Hope you have a lovely week,

Parcel waiting is fun but frustrating!! I've had a few lately (inc crafty stash)I stalk my postie, she knows me well and gives me time to get to the door!! I've been playing with backgrounds and paints. I used my distress crayons over gesso. Works so well. Question? Will stencils how do you keep it crisp? When I paint through stencils I always seem to get paint under the stencil and it messes up the look! Thanks for sharing. Take care Zo xx 25

I think delivery folk play the game of "spot when she's out" just to annoy me! However today I got my parcel of tiny frames for Tilly Tea Dance - all packed beautifully and arrived on time - result!! x Jo

One good thing about acrylic paints is that you can just keep painting over it. Looking forward to seeing what goodies have arrived for next weeks post.

Oh Helen, DON'T paint over it! It is great background potential! Knock it back with a wash of gesso and go from there! You will have a great page when you are don! :) I continue to be in love with all that GORGEOUS product on your desk! I've said that before, but it is still true! Love those stamps for sure! Blessings for a great rest of the week! :) Felicia #34

I would not paint over that page. It looks wonderful, use your efforts to try again on another page & have this one to refer back to. We are our own worst critics - aren't we. Have a wonderful Wednesday, donna #41

I love the journal page - The colours are fab! It is very annoying when the post doesn't come when you expect, especially new craft stuff! However... you could forget you had ordered it and that way it would be a big surprise when it arrived! :) Lea #43

I love the bright colour scheme on your page, Helen. I am sure you will get it right - remember the mixed media artist's motto: "In mixed media, there are no mistakes - only more layers" lol!

Thank you for your lovely comment - no time yet to try Sheba's new support tables. I wasn't too worried about the physio appointment - such things happen! Anyway, it was well worth going today. I've just done a blog post about it. It was an education.

Thank you for your sweet visit Helen. Your post just reminded me that one of the best things about our art journals is that we can doodle and experiment, and then just paint or gesso over the whole thing if we don't like it! Hugs. Sandy Leigh #33

Thank you for returning and reading my second post, Helen - I thought I'd get it all down while it was still fresh in my mind before I forgot what she'd said. I hope it will be helpful for others. We can so easily get into bad postural habits without even noticing, and certainly not realising what trouble it can store up for later. I've been using a wheelchair and crutches for 9 years now, and given my age (63) I suppose it has to come home to roost sometime!!
