Crafty Boots - Stories and Rhymes

It's time for another Crafty Boots challenge, and the theme this fortnight is Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.

Now, not having children I don't have a lot of suitable young stamp images so I was properly stumped for a while.... then happened to spy a packet of stamps in a box - 'Dance' by Sioux Jenneys for the Artistic Stamper - and my story was chosen!!

I don't remember reading Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfield, but I certainly remember the impact of it in the film You've Got Mail with Meg Ryan - I love that film!

I decided on a card - and some masking.  The ink is the shaded lilac distress ink.

I had to do lots of practising with my masking as it's been a while since I did any, and experimenting with the colour for the ballerinas too!  I knew it had to be something soft, but the squeezed lemonade wasn't right. I used the same ink to softly blend the edges of the card too, before mounting it onto a card blank.

Hope you enjoy this theme and come and join in.... we'd love to see you.

I love how you have made this, it looks fantastic. I do not know this story, although I think I may have seen the film!

You've never read the book? Oh my Helen, I'll have to dig out my copy and lend it to you! I thought it was part of the 'growing up law' for little girls! I LOVE your soft and beautiful dancers - it really does the book justice. Mwah x

Just checked...it is on Kobo so will download it. It was also on TV a few years back so there must be a DVD of it available!

I only know the book because of the film too and yes, I love the film. Though ssssh don't go spreading that around! I love what you did here - masking with stamps is a bit beyond me and am always fascinated when I see it done.
