I have like so many people, been following Tim Holtz and his 12 Tags of Christmas for some years - so when I saw this week that he wasn't doing them any more, I was sad. Until you realise instead he is doing them throughout the year - one tag a month - enabling us to sample different seasons and themes rather than all Christmas - and also, how much less pressure is there at a very busy time of year (I may even get my Christmas cards done early this year!!)
So, February - the month of love. Valentines. Well, it may be from living on my own too long, but I don't "do" Valentine - so don't have the stamps/embossing folders/dies that Tim used on his tag (which is gorgeous!) and my white dabber is a pain in the butt - despite diluting with water it won't flow... so much improvising was called for!
So instead I embossed the Tim sentiment for the resist technique, (couldn't find my white embossing powder either!) and used Wendy's heart stamped on grungepaper in vermillion archival and spritzed with forever red perfect pearl - it makes the grunge look almost silvery where it's caught the shimmer..
I do have the seasonal paper stack so cut some of the small valentines phrases.
this is possibly the worst tag I have ever made - but I don't intend to let the 12 Tags of 2012 defeat me at the first hurdle...
Check here for what the Master has made. You have till the end of the month to load your own version.
It can only get better!

There isn't a 'worst', how could there be...I like it very much , and as you didn't have the stuff, I think you're amazing to have bothered, I know I wouldn't have!!
'Tis a fabby job....Valentines day is much over rated in my opinion any way! LOL
xoxo Sioux
I like it! I think anyone would be pleased to receive it. I've never been able to do a Christmas tag (except leave comments lol). This I'm thinking I'll be able to participate. I don't do Valentine's day either.
You are so harsh on yourself woman! I just went and looked at Tims expecting some grandioso masterpiece - yours is very much on a par.
As for valentines... pffft. We don't really bother. It means so much more when he walks past and drops a couple of quid in my stash fund, or makes me a cuppa without my asking or (like tonight) gets me a sub for Artists & Illustrators magazine :D Woohoo! Who needs valentines day.
Your post made me laugh, oh Helen you are so funny.
Loving your tag and the way you have improvised. Great stuff. Annette x
Don't be too hard on yourself - this is lovely. I/we didn't do Valentines this year although we did have a Rocky Road Cheesecake for dessert on Tuesday.
I too think this is a good idea to spread the tags out, I was always well behind, still am on this one but I have more time to catch up and not so much getting in the way.
Take care my friend, enjoy!
Hugs, Neet xx
So what's wrong with it Helen ? It looks pretty good to me and so please TH had an alternative up his sleeve.
I just can't wait for my new TH markers to land, my fingers have been itching in anticipation.
Have a good weekend.

Well I think this tag is awesome, I love it and think you've done a fabulous job. xx
Great tag Helen, love the heart and great improvisation. Enjoy your weekend. Tracy x
A lovely tag Helen even if you don't do Valentines :) Such a good idea too to be making a tag each month instead of all 12 at Xmas.
Enjoy Kew!
i love the quote you used and the rosettes :)
