WOYWW 596

Welcome to November... Desk day....  WOYWW  head for the Stamping-Ground and Julia will dish the dirt explain all.

No enabling today as I still haven't ordered my crackle paste I forgot to buy last week..

I did have a chance to have a bit of a play with a couple of the stencils though

I added some more of the flourish stencil to the journal page
and some stamping in the background

I took my ideas from a You-Tube video from Niamh Baly who uses a lot of Dina Wakley products and I love her work.

then I stencilled the "pretty as a peacock" girl on a sheet of Dina Wakley collage tissue (the one with the white words - this is from an old pack)

I used wilted violet and peacock feathers (obviously!) distress oxides

I absolutely LOVE they way this stencil comes out (Imay have to buy the bigger size too)

I very carefully stuck it to the journal page so as not to smudge the inks

quite fortuitously the tissue shows the word "perfect" in the middle of the girl's neck... not that it is a perfect page, but not bad for random placement of the stencil!
I have some finishing off to do, but am really pleased with this page so far.

I'll be late visiting this week as I have a Dr's appointment at lunchtime so have to get back to Sutton from work and then back to work after the appointment so won't have time to do any visits then.

Nearly forgot -  last week's Kew pics -   where I met an old friend..

and got quite wet!

Kew will be staying open during the new lockdown, but as we are only meant to be using transport for essential travel, not sure I will be able to keep going (though it is essential to my mental wellbeing to visit Kew so...)

I'm determined to do my rounds of my favourite blogs before I get under a pile of sewing this week...it just didn't happen last week.
I love the latest page Helen. Like you I'm never too sure what essential travel is [what is essential to one person isn't to another]. I hope you can keep your dates with Kew each week.

I like that stencil too! Don’t think you can go wrong with a good flourish (!!) and that page is great. Hope you’re ok in lockdown, lovely gal, just think Kew will be getting ready for Christmas by the time you’ll be able to visit again, something worth waiting for.

Love your stencilled backgrounds and you made it look like the feathers are in her hair - looks cool! Nice autumn colours still - around here most of them are gone now and we had hard frost this morning, which will finish off the rest. Shame it didn't last longer! A bit like the spring blossoms - blink and you miss them! We have to appreciate them while they are here! Happy WOYWW Helen! zsuzsa #19

Oh that is a stunning page, really loving these stencilled faces I am seeing about. Mind you, I had some years ago, not used them much though. It may just be my screen but your old friend appears to match perfectly with your journal page colours! Thought we had a theme going there! Many more leaves on the ground this wekk, but the autumn colour continues to blaze. A few days of sunshine to send Autumn off with a bang? Let's hope, I am so over the rain as I suspect are you! Do hope you manage to keep up your visits. Stay well, stay safe, Cindyxx #16

Love the page, it is perfect! Do you ever scan them in and save to your computer and then print them out to use again, maybe on cards or other projects?

Yep, lovely page - that stencil is really fab, and sticking it down without smudging the ink...very clever indeed! I really like the flourish stencil too, and that’s why I don’t do your sort of art...it would never occur to me to use the face on top! Brill. Meanwhile, you need to stay safe...can you find a local park just for fresh air and photos...I know Kew is everything, but actually, everything is good health to get back there!

I just love your swirly leafy background, Helen, and the subtle face addition is a triumph! One of my favourite pages you've ever done, I think. Just gorgeous. As are your Kew photos! Isn't this the most glorious time of year for colour?

Thank you for visiting - nice to find another House of Eliott fan, and I'm glad you like the tunic! These days they don't repeat anything decent on TV - it's all just rubbish and I rarely watch any network stuff any longer. 30 chews really isn't that much - while eating our Thai green curry for lunch today (delicious, by the way!) I found myself chewing 50 times and enjoying every morsel. It never gets "stone" cold anyway, in your mouth, and it doesn't feel peculiar! Thank you for your good wishes for tomorrow's eye test. I was worried they might cancel it but they phoned today to remind me, and I said "I thought you were going to tell me it was cancelled" but she laughed and said "No - we are always here for you!" So I feel very reassured!

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Helen, great colours and stencil. And how fab that the word perfect is positioned so well. You must have a little of patience for stencilling on tissue paper - it would end up all creased, smudged and torn with me - I think I am quite heavy handed at times! Hope the doctor's appointment went ok. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #8

Love how she hovers within the layers - she really is beautiful - and the "perfect" is a very happy accident. I think you could probably make the case for mental health and well-being in visiting Kew...

ooh great stencil work and agree, the placement of the word is perfect.
Ah Kew, presume they can still open (I read that gardens that you pay for can still open)? Miss being able to visit london probably the longest I havent been down since I was a teenager.
