WOYWW 458

Can't believe it's time for another WOYWW.... week 458... I was looking for something on my blog yesterday to inspire me for this week's France Papillon FB challenge (theme "back to basics") and I got distracted by trying to find the first time I joined in with WOYWW... turns out I've been doing this every week (don't think I've missed one from then - or not many anyhow) since 17 Feb 2010 - before the weeks even got numbered!!

Anyway, that's by the by.   my desk   floor workspace this week doesn't have a lot on it - I'm playing in my latest journal (the square one) with Seth Apter's Baked Textures embossing powders, just messing about with them on a page covered with tissue paper...
the photo doesn't show the shimmer very well due to the angle I took it at.

they differ in consistency, some are quite chunky and some quite fine and melt really well.

Not done very much with them at all yet, just sprinkled them on some clear embossing ink to try out the colours.
still haven't put the new Fresco paints away in their boxes... and the scraps box behind the tubs of texture pastes behind the paints is in even more danger of overflowing.

Next week, all being well, there will be new stamps to show (order is "processing" lol - my not buying anything for a month or two lasted... about 10 days...)

My ticket for Ally Pally came this week too; which isn't far off now.  I'll be there on the Saturday.
I'll be visiting your desk soon.. have the kettle on maybe?

I'm back again Helen, saying the same old *I really need to join in with the WOYWW* but so scared to take that first step! I will amaze you one day hee hee.. So i'm a fly on the wall again, checking out your baked textures over tissue. Not used them in this way but know they work amazingly over large areas. Look forward to seeing those new stamps.. I've been saving up my craft stash budget too but it's been a very difficult journey!
Have a wonderful week..
Hugs Tracey xx

Kettle is filled and ready at any time. Meanwhile, love the colours of this SA powders, aren’t they nice. You really are outside the box with using them, even for a test..not sure it would have occurred to me to do anything but stamp something to emboss. Love your stash diet, 10 days is good! For you!!

Hi Helen, looks like you deserve a WOYWW long service award! Now who were you kidding, not buying craft supplies? Had to pick myself up the floor I lolled so much. Nice journal work. I have finished put6ing the album together, was just gonna print a few photos off on the printer for it but can't find my decent paper. I 're-organised' it into a black hole obviously. I wouldn't hold your breath to look at my photos, they are certainly not up to your standard! I shall be at AP both days this year I think so will probably see you there at some point. Thanks for the earlier visit. Cindy #21

10 days without purchase is that a record. What the ... life's too short, enjoy your stamps when you receive them. I always say I probably spend less on craft materials in a year than someone who drinks or smokes. Sorry the link didn't work will try and get it fixed for next week how I don't know. Ani#1

Hi Helen - you've been WOYWWing from 2010, that's impressive! It took me a bit longer to discover Julia's blog. Your art journals are always interesting and inspirational so much so I'm going to recommend your blog to my teenage granddaughter. She's into art but doesn't keep a journal - I think she might be very interested. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #30

Good morning, Helen. Thanks for the visit. Always a pleasure. Wow, you've not missed a week? Wish I could say that. Go you on ordering new stuff. Have fun at Ally. Wish we had an event like that. Well, we do, but it's 4 hrs one way and I've only attended twice. Maybe this year. Creative Blessings! Kelly #28

Oh Helen, I love that page with all the music on it! It's gorgeous. I haven't heard of those embossing powders before, but it sounds as if you are having so much fun with them. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment. So glad you liked all my flowers. They did look rather good en masse! I've used a load of them on the mystery project but I did make far too many so they will go in my stash for future use. Lily and Ruby are completely BANNED from my studio - the only kitty I ever let in there was Phoebe because she would just sit quietly - Beatrice was so nosy and destructive right into old age and couldn't be trusted at all, and as for our 2 juvenile delinquents, well, they'd have made short work of my flowers, that's for sure!! All being well, and no more snow by Monday, we're out for lunch with the friend the mystery projet is for, so after that it will be the Big Reveal!! I've been working flat out to get it finished in time and if I hadn't been so tired after getting home today I'd have spent the evening in the studio, but I've got all tomorrow.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #27

I like the look of the powders over the tissue paper - I've only played with a couple of the powders so far, but hope to get adventurous with them soon.
