Inspired by Ruth - #3UP for Paperartsy

Well following my own nerve-wracking appearance at the start of the week with Lin Brown stamps on the 3UP challenge for Paperartsy, we've seen some fabulous projects ever since - gorgeous use of Chatsworth papers, Lynne Perrella stamps, Darcy stamps,  JoFY stamps and Ellen Vargo stamps yesterday.

It was Ruth's fantastic piece that inspired me - catch hers here - I just love the bright colours and stencilling over the top.

I used a canvas rather than covering greyboard with cotton fabric as Ruth did, as that's what I had;  but went to work with my bright translucent Fresco's and a babywipe - I don't often apply/blend paint like this, but think I need to more often.

this is the finished canvas... I followed Ruth's instructions, used a lot of the same colours because they are bright and cheerful and that's what inspired me... but I don't have all the Ellen stamps (booo!) and used different stencils so it wasn't a complete copy.
first step, stamp, start applying paint..
 lots more layers...
stencilling with snowflake and Tango and South Pacific for the 'bumping'
Blood Orange stencilled with a stiff stencil brush to add shading to the orange flowers
grunge paste through the JoFY "bloom" stencil

which I then coloured with Eggplant.  Added some White Fire treasure gold round the edges and over the blue seed pods

entering this to the #3UP Paperartsy challenge - if, as a #3UPper I'm not allowed to enter the draw for the prize, I am sure the great team at PA will leave my name out!

Wow! These colours just zing! I've been in a gallery in London today looking at the work of the late, Jamaican artist, Rudi Patterson and this reminds me very much of the vibrancy of his beautiful, naive work. Gorgeous, Helen! Julie Ann xxx

I don't normally go for bright like this but I have to admit I fell in love with Ruths project too. Love what you've done here Helen, it really is a 'happy' piece of art. Wonderful colours and stencilling.
