Compendium Challenge - 3

For Linda's third challenge from Tim's Compendium volume 2 challenge - only my first - Linda asked us to work on page 46 - marbled stains.  The details are in the book so I can't share the technique with you but I loved this when I tried it in the Creative Chemistry class (though with limited success I fear) so was looking forward to trying it again.

I was further inspired by one of the other entries (thanks, Sue) and this was the result.  Still not fully happy with the extent of the marbling - maybe next time!!

I used a piece of manilla cardstock for my marbling and then die cut some butterflies (stamped with Wendy Vecchi's dotty border in coffee archival) before displaying them on a black card.

I then used some Paperartsy 'old gold' paint from my craft mat to ink up the 'dream' stamp (impression obsession) on a scrap of black card and edged it with a gold pen.
this close up may show the marbling slightly better!

Thanks, Linda for this challenge - glad to be able to join in finally as I had the supplies ready for this one!!

Thanks also to the kind sponsors for a random winner,  http://www.eclecticpaperie.com

I stopped by to see your cracked glass entry at the various sites when this popped up. Lovely butterflies, but I sure don't get that marbled stains technique. Not sure I care for it, but it has nothing to do with how you made it. In my opinion, that is a darling card.

Love how you have cut butterflies from your marbled background. The black card makes the butterflies pop. Lovely. Tracy x

Great card! I love the butterflies. I agree with your comment about the technique sensitivity regarding achieving reproducible results. I just finished several tags myself trying something a bit different each time thinking and assuming it is still operator error on my part. Have a great day!

Devon just walked past the screen, back tracked and went 'ooh that's pretty'. Have to agree, love the contrast between the pretty butterflies and the black paper.

Welcome to the CC2C, Helen! I'm so glad you were able to join in this week, and I love your gorgeous butterfly card. I think the marbling looks great! The black background is a great choice-- those colors just leap right off the page. Dreamy, for sure!
