A Sea of Greens

Happy Saturday!! I have had so much fun making this piece for the current Artful Times challenge "a Sea of Greens".  I started with white cardstock (Paperartsy smoothy paper purchased at Ally Pally). Hmmm it's nice... anyhow, painted it with Paperartsy Fresco paints and stamps, I used pan pastels, distress inks, archival inks, glassine paper, stamps, flowers, idea-ology ... just had fun!

I covered a tag with more fresco paint and did the crackle glaze trick, then stamped the owl onto tissue paper before sticking it tot he tag.  I used lots of new stuff I bought last week at Ally Pally, and took as inspiration the work that Lin was doing there.

some close ups - the starting point!
The frame is by Artemio , 3 in a pack very reasonable. painted black (distress stain) and a little old gold fresco paint over the top.

Love that owl stamp (Paperartsy) and the flowers are sprayed with dylusion spray - I originally dried it with the heat gun but it took the colour out so sprayed again and let it dry naturally - which it did pretty instantly on this surface! What a zingy colour it is... need the rest of those now! (it is paling as it dries further, shame!!)

used pan pastels on the owl and as I only have a few and no browns, I used orange mixed with the auberginey purpley colour i do have...

Amazingly I even found something suitable to mount it on - the bottom of a box that contained a Liverpool Supporters Club gift a few years ago - see, NEVER through stuff away!!! Now just need somewhere to display it.

Thanks for looking, hope you like this piece- I am happy with this one!

Yes, Helen, I like it! It is gorgeous. Love that you have joined us at Artful Times and with such a stunning piece.
I must get that stamp, the owl is fabulous. So many tempting things, love the dye you have used (not got any of those but love that colour) and the Pan Pastels - they have to be a next purchase for me now.
Oh heck, good job I didn't come to see you at Ally Pally - I'd be broke!
Thanks again for submitting such a lovely piece - Hugs, Neet xx

Ooo this is lovely. Adore that owl stamp! So many luscious layers.

We have sadness in this house (at least in Ed's office) as it looks like his beloved Exeter City will be relegated - I'm buying his fish and chips to night to cheer him up lol.

Yep, I never throw anything useful away. I'm glad you were able to recycle. I also like how the green is darker on the right and lighter on the left. I think that shows movement!!

I think I was most impressed with the owl. It takes skill to combine two colors together to get just the right color in the end. Well, well done.

Love, love, love this! I love the green (my fave colour I think!) and the layering. The owl is an image I wasn't sure I'd use but now I have seen it like this I know I will - Brilliant xxxx
