What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday 144

Well, here we all are again!  Another Wednesday, another collection of desks to snoop at... courtesy of Julia at the Stamping Ground.

So, this is my "desk" tonight - I've been cutting some alphabets with the Wordplay die by Tm Holtz (I finally got a set of the extra large cutting plates which were out of stock everywhere for days!)
I've got 3 full sets cut out ready for when I need them...)
and I've been trying to stick my altered book pages together for the course that WOYWW Elizabeth is running - do check it out if you've ever wanted to do an altered book - her instructions are easy to follow and very detailed, just what I need as a beginner - this is my first one though I've been meaning to do one for years!  I don't have enough clamps or pegs (no outside space to dry my washing so I don't need pegs!) so I'm having a few problems at present!

Spent the weekend painting of a different sort.... no, the overalls aren't mine - I borrowed them from my brother (he wasn't on painting duties!) We were at my mum's house as we have lots to do to get it ready to rent (which we still aim to do rather than sell) - she was a heavy smoker and the rooms are very discoloured... and then we lost the electrics - some sort of problem with the RCD box after my brother turned the power off to put in another socket in her bedroom - so we had lights but no other power all weekend! (Don't ask me, I haven't got a clue!! )
We did have a lovely meal at the Indian restaurant opposite her house though (once we got served!)
I've also been messing about in my journal again  - umbrella man makes another appearance!

Finally, it's "Alice" week at Dragons-Dream Tag It On the choice of AJ.  I don't have any Alice themed stamps - coudln't even find a rabbit! so I've just used some Graphic 45 Alice paper to make my tag, and wrote out some quotes - the stamp is the crown by Tim Holtz.  Stop by and check out the other DT efforts, which will all be much better than mine! (should publish around lunchtime)

Loved the photo of you. And silhouettes are SO the rage now.

Looks like you are going to need a few more clamps. I never even considered bulldog clips. Very clever idea!!

I really like your tag. I like the colors you chose. When I use Linda's html, I will let you know. Thanks for sharing it last week.

You've been busy! I see you're in the AB class too - I haven't started my niche yet cuz I couldn't figure out what to do about clamps without going out and buying some - I like the idea of the binder clips you used and I think it will work because I don't have a very thick niche page stack.....it's worth a try anyway. Thanks for the idea.

I've been seeing that new die on a few blogs in the last week or two, looks very usable. Good luck with the painting, I love doing it but hate, hate, HATE painting ceilings!!

Aw Helen there you are *waving*. Lord does your neck ache and your arm hurt? How I hate painting!
As usual, I'm not familiar with the TH alpha dies - and just as well, I'm a sucker for alphas!!
Loving the journal pages, are the numbers and letters relevant to something you're going to write? ? And you're already getting on with the book...I agree, great instructions.

Artyjen said...

I'm making do with my normal sized plates 'cos I only intend to cut out the letters I need!! Loving that page ;)

Hi Helen, I'm hoping to do my first AB with Elizabeth too, still reading the instructions but got the book, the elastic band, etc., and I'm sure I have some bulldog clips somewhere so thanks for the tip there. Your tag is lovely, proving you don't necessarily need stamps if you have great paper. Good luck with the decorating and I hope you have a great WOYWW. Elizabeth x #22

Beautiful journal page Helen, the shadows on the circles are very effective and that shade of blue is gorgeous.
You are racing ahead on the AB. I found some mini bulldog clips and am going to 'borrow' the ones Mr B uses in his modelling.

Crikey Helen, you've had a busy week!!! Nice overalls though, I could use some of those.....he,he!
Your journal is coming along a treat and I know what you mean about the glue drying thing in your altered book....it takes forever but clamps are definitely the way to go.

It's my first week with WYOWW and I'm quickly trying to work through to everyone's desk...its so exciting but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the talent.

A Liverpool supporter too...my hubby and son are avid fans ~ so much so that they get up at silly-o-clock here in Melbourne to watch their games! My husband was born in the shadow of Anfield!

I enjoyed my peek at your desk ;D
Have a great crafty week...must dash and check out a few more desks! :D
