WOYWW 585

My week off flew by, even though I did nothing - it was far too hot for going out anywhere so apart from some shopping I just - did nothing!  So before you know it, it's Wednesday again and time to share our crafty spaces with Julia at the Stamping-Ground

Towards the end of the week I managed a bit of a play in my journals

in my square 8x8 journal I played with the stencil I showed you a few weeks ago

used distress oxides layering colours

then added some stencilled figures

and doodled some marks with a Posca paint pen

It's finished apart from a caption of some kind

I always think a journal page needs a caption of some kind

haven't had the time or energy to find the right one yet though

I did another page with the wavy flower stencil to match - or complement - the pink one from last week, too.

this time stamped it straight onto the journal page

By the weekend after some impressive rain and thunder it was cool enough to take my weekly trip to Kew - pics here   I was in my element with all the raindrops!

I'll be back again next weekend, as I have another time slot booked.

I will visit your desks probably after work, we're short staffed this week and it's busy so not getting a lot of time at lunch to stop!

Isn't that the idea of a holiday to do nothing. Love your stencil figures waiting to see what caption you come up with. Ani #4

No idea what the last flower is but it is a'tangle' which looks good in your photo.
What a difference that doodling did to those figures. Great.

Wow Helen, those doodled figures look fabulous, you've really brought them to life. I love the flower photos, the raindrops on them are beautiful. I'll pop over to visit Kew later but must get a few visits under my belt first or else I'll find the morning gone!
Have a great week,

Great journal pages Helen. I was surprised when I read your comment over at Julia's that you hadn't seen the makeup brushes before, you are missing a trick as they apply the inks far better and so much easier than anything else I've tried and you know me I've tried them all Lol! Have a lovely woyww and a very happy creative week off, Angela x14x

I really love the three figures and the patterned clothing, a really great page - personally I think a caption would be too much, the design doesn't need one. Like the way the Posco pen goes over the dark colours.

Hi Helen, I agree re heat. I found it unbearable and think it was not quite as hot here in Midlands.
Very much like the journal pages.
The raindrops on the flowers are so gorgeous. Anne x @16

Great stenciled piece ~ You can call it "The three sisters" that's what I call my three trees lined up outside in my yard. It's so humid here too, I was perspiring just getting dressed this AM and we have the air on! ~ Beautiful flower shots too

Glad you've had a break, Helen, but it's a shame it was too hot to do anything! Isn't life more pleasant now things have cooled off a bit. I love your work this week - the Anthony Gormley-esque figures really took my fancy, especially with the stunning white doodling! You are sooo talented...

Happy WOYWW,

great looking pages! I took a class with Dyan Reaveley here in Oklahoma and had a blast learning from her, bought loads of product then promptly put it in a drawer and did nothing with it...I need to get it out and play. I forget it if it is out of sight until I see something someone else has done. Hope you have a great week. Vickie #32

Thanks for your visit, Helen, and yes, always enjoyed dressing up lol! My sister and I used to have a dressing up box when we were little and it's been fun since then!

Lovely journal pages!
The background on the first page is great.
I feel as you do when it comes to the heat.
We have very hot and humid weather here right now
and i am so lazy most of the time...
Need to get back in to crafting though so I will collect
myself together this fall.
Stay as healthy as you can and have a nice week.
I really like this WOYWW and the opportunity to visit
creative people in the blogosphere.

Oh Helen thanks for your kind words this week. Some times tragedy's bring us back to being more thankful. I'm thankful my DH is so supportive and our weather has been perfect to go out walking and enjoy nature's beauty and sounds. Not having family close is hard for me especially with Mother gone, I so much enjoyed my time with her. Your photos this week are just beautiful I hope you are doing well and staying safe in this crazy world.

Hi Helen! I love your journal page! It was neat seeing it come together step by step - the white doodling on the black figures is awesome! I have been looking back on some of my old journals before I was doing junk journals, and miss that style of paint/stenciling. I may go back to it-you have inspired me! Thanks for your visit (and last week's too -sorry!), have a great week! Lindart #27

Loving the doodling on the figures, very effective and the compliment flower page too. The raindrops certainly add a dimension to the floral photos.

Sorry I’m late. To be honest H, after your last few months, probably the weather forcing you to not very much is exactly what you needed from a week off! Glad you felt the mood to do a bit of inking though, those figures and the doodling are amazing!
