Time for WOYWW again - saying nothing about how fast it's come round again
the new stash I was waiting for last week of course arrived on Wednesday but I don't know how to edit posts on my phone and I was at work, so had to save them for today..
two of the sets of texture fantasy/rust pastes by Finnabair for Prima.
I did get to Ally Pally on Saturday, arriving about 12.30 after I'd been to Kew
this is the Stampers Grove stand who have taken the Paperartsy space in the hall and had a fairly good range of their stamps on show...
Lauren was demoing for Stampers Grove with some of the new Paperartsy stamps
when I arrived I thought it looked fairly busy but it soon seemed be thin out (it was lunchtime I suppose...)
and these few pics I took certainly make it look empty..
I did bump into Erika shortly before I left - I only stayed 2 hours - but no photo evidence to prove it!
I really didn't buy much - I don't think those of you I mentioned this to on Facebook afterwards really believed me... but this is it!
one set of stamps, 3 stencils, an ink pad (heard so many good things about the Versafine Clair inks, so thought I'd try a black one) and some odd bits and pieces.
I can't remember the last time I bought so little at a craft show!
There just wasn't a lot there that was my kind of thing, a lot of stands with "everything's £1" or cheap bulk buys, or packs of card - I have enough to stock them myself - and without the major draw of Paperartsy, I don't think I'll be going again..
I was lucky enough to be given a ticket by someone who couldn't make it, so it was worth going just to see what it was like without Paperartsy, if only to prove to myself what I suspected...
I finally managed a bit of crafting- my boss and another girl at work have birthdays this week so I made a couple of cards - forgot to take decent photos before I sealed the envelopes...
I made some backgrounds over some patterned paper and used some of my new distress oxides for the stamping - gathered twigs, which is a dark brown, and wild honey (the silhouette on the right was stamped first in wild honey then overstamped in gathered twigs as it wasn't dark enough)
I found a bottle of liquid pearls for the centre of the row of flowers that I hand coloured with sprays - can't remember the last time I used liquid pearls!

I see what you mean by the lack of people. I remember the first time I saw your photos from Ally Pally. There was hardly walking room, much less views of open aisles. To think they charge for that. SO glad your ticket was free for you, at least.
I like everything you purchased, except maybe the JOFY Christmas stamps. Guess I'm NOT ready to be thinking about Christmas. The idea of buying white everything is perfect. That way, you can color them whatever color you chose. I look forward to seeing what you do with those flags. I think that was a bargain.
Thanks again in advance for linking me. This is the last time, I promise. You can see why this WOYWW post was so important, though.
Forgot to mention how much I like those cards. Now you know why I don't make them. Yours rock!
Barbara Gray also mentioned that it didn't seem as crowded at Ally Pally this year (but they were trialling a new layout for their stand). Love the new stencils and the rust paints. Your colleagues must have liked their cards Helen, I certainly do. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
Gosh, Helen, you really were circumspect there. Not like you at all to come away with so little and only one PaperArtsy stamp! Sorry to hear the show has gone down - used to be so good. Guess it will fade like so many. Shame.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
I feel sadly with how easy it is to pick up a much better bargain online the fate of these shows is scary. I only go to the NEC in Brum and they now have 3 shows a year but it has the same old stalls with the odd newbie. I go mainly for the exhibition side of it and to see first hand any new items i'm craft curious about. There can be a bargain to be found if you hunt for them.
I'm sure you will make good use of the newly purchased stash & I hope you find the Vesafine Clair as enjoyable as I do, *Acorn* is a great shade for this time of year *Hint Hint*..

P.S Great cards for your friends x
I've heard the same about several shows the last year or so Helen, I know the last NEC I went to which was Nov 2016 was very disappointing with several regulars missing. I am going to the Doncaster one next month, never been before, have a wish list including Versafine Clair inks.
Not so disappointing is the start to th season, that man really instills confidence to all around him, was listening to an intervciew last week with Fermino and he said he was the best manager he had ever played under.

Sorry to hear Ally Pally was a disappointment but you did manage to find a few new bits.
Hugs,

Morning Helen. Goodness - Ally Pally does look empty - how sad - but it did mean you had room to breathe and move around!
Great cards - well done.
Take care. God bless.

Wow! Ally Pally looks very empty. I like your purchases. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week. Caro x (#16)
It's strange that it's so quiet. I do miss Paper Artsy at the shows but I like Stampers Grove too and the owners are lovely. I think you're not quite yourself Lol! There's hardly anything there and looks like only one lot of stamps. Hope the shopping mojo comes back soon though I'm sure it will Hee! Hee! Happy woyww, Angela x17x
To be honest, I've stopped going to shows - the cost of the transport/entry ticket seemed too much when I could spend that amount on new stash in a local shop! Maybe stamping is different, but at least you didn't come away completely empty handed!
Hugs LLJ 13 xxx
Gosh Ally Pally with room to browse! I think that's probably it for shows really, if PaperArtsy and other such suppliers don't need the exposure any more, then really it isn't going to get any better is it. I have used but don't yet own a Versafine Clair, I will but have resolved to wait until I need a new pigment ink pad this time instead of just cluttering up my ink storage and making me not use what I've got that is perfectly good for now!!
Happy WOYWDW
Looks like a crafter paradise and I know I would be a lot poorer if I went there Lol
Great back grounds,

It's always nice to have a look at the shows but sometimes it's all too much - and it's so easy to come home with more stash that just sits waiting to be used (my cupboards are full of fabric etc that just called to me from shows, shops and online!!) xx Jo
Sad how many shows are losing vendors. Looks like you got some fun items.
Have a great week!

Fab cards Helen. I love your stash. I have that stamp set - haven't used it yet though!
Hi Helen, sorry Ally Pally didn't quite live up to its expectations. I haven't been to many shows but have really enjoyed the ones I have attended. I love the flowers on your cards. Have a lovely week Heather x #9
Hi Helen, I do have a few pads of the claire inks and I do like mine. and I think that when the versfines I have now kick the bucket I will replace them with the Claire's ( It's nice that those have a bigger color range ) Yep, I have been trying to make my self use up some of those things that tend to harden when you ignore them and seeing your blooms with pearls made me realize that mine have not come out of the drawer for a while either. :) thanks for the mental nudge. ~Stacy #29
Hi Helen, You'll have fun with your new stash.
Glad you made it to AllyPally.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW

You just remind me of the fact that I still have liquid pearls tubes in my stash in various colours... might be fun to take them out and play with it a little, I always loved the effect but cannot use it in my journals (it sticks the pages together) However, some birthdays coming up and it works great on cards... Thanks for your visit to my blog earlier, have a great week. Love from Holland, Marit #23
Hope you have a creative blast with your new stash! Christmas bells will be ringing soon lol!
Thanks for stopping by.

I haven't been to a craft show in a very long time - looks like you had fun despite the shortcomings - it's always fun to browse even if you don't buy much! I haven't heard opf the Versifine Claire (Versifine is my go to black), I'll keep my eyes open for it! I love the cards, really nicely done! Don't worry about the weather here, we are far north of the Carolinas and will probably only get a rainy day out of it. Have a great week, and thanks for your visit! Lindart #25
Crikey! I've never known you to buy so little Helen! Lol! Lovely cards!
Well your photos of the event look great but I guess it was a little disappointing if you didn’t purchase much or is that a good thing. LOL. Dorlene #28
Wow! that does look quiet for a craft show, last time I went it was like playing sardines in there ad I needed a trolley for my purchases, although I think I was disappointed that there weren't so many demos, make and takes and so on - and I have to agree that PaperArtsy was always one of my fave stands. Have a great week :o) Annie C #21
I shall go the the NEC and have a look to see if there is anything new that takes my fancy. It looks like you were very brave!!ha ha!
Nice little stash there, and I just love those cards.
have a good week

You seem to have had a good time at Ally Pally, Helen, and your new stash looks fun, especially the new pastes, which I'd love to see how you use. Thank you for your visit and I apologise for the lateness of the reply but this week I've been alternately far too busy and then very exhausted and have got a huge backlog of blog comments and emails to answer! Glad you enjoyed reading about my apples and bread - do you think I might have got the famous Hollywood Handshake lol lol!! (I notice they don't do sourdough in bread week on Bake Off - probaby because it takes too long.)
Happy extraordinarily delayed WOYWW!

It's so sad, isn't it, not to have PaperArtsy in their spot... I thought about going, but looking at the exhibitors I thought it really wouldn't be worth my while. Seeing how little you came away with, I think it was the right decision! I love the two cards - those silhouettes are magical, and the backgrounds are very cool - "subtle grunge", I think that style is!
