Crafting at Ally Pally - always a good day out

Just got home from a fab day stalking the Paperartsy stand at Ally Pally - a great day out as always and wonderful to catch up with people- though sadly not as many as normal..
straight to Paperartsy of course...
Leanda and Emma on demo duty

Leandra using some fabulous Donna Downey stencils
the water extraction technique from Seth's workshop, between us we remembered what we were doing!
Leandra adding watered down paint to her background
had a quick wander, Alison (Craftytrog) doing a make and take for That's Crafty
Kim Dellow doing make and takes for Paperartsy..
Lucy came to do some infusion demos for Paperartsy while Leandra had a break

Emma was rocking the backgrounds, she made loads!
 then moved into her journal
some great infusion work here too
Lauren on make and take duty at That's Crafty

Met Chris (Pearshapedchris) a WOYWWer who was down in London for a few days and popped along.  Will be meeting her again at Port Sunny in another couple of weeks!
 a trio of Franich's!!

Leandra back demoing, the new Fresco's over a crazing gel (Tim's)
Alison came over and was persuaded to get painty again with a gelli plate demo
so much so that I bought a small one!
these action shots are really to remind me what to do....
a quick all round shot, it was nearly closing time so getting empty!
not quite sure what was happening here...
 some of Alison's gelli tags

and Leandra did a rusting powder demo - we had to search high and low for some vinegar to get this going.. the light doesn't help but it was working by the time we fiished!

and of course, we decamped to the bar for a swift drink after the show!
Mark, Emma and Leandra, and I've cut off  the other Emma..
here she is, with Kim and Lauren
 and Alison and Courtney.
and some shopping... not much today, I was very good - you didn't believe I could do it!
Mainly stencils

Chris said something about meeting someone in London and I said I couldn't guess, but since she was going to Ally Pally, I'm sure she'll see Helen. And sure enough!! There she is with you. What fun. Did she go alone, or did Mr. Pear Shaped go with her? He loves to shop with her.

I was delighted to see all you purchased. I have a suggestion about old stencils. The ones you no longer use, you can send to me (JUST JOKING)!

I hope you like that Gelli. I can't wrap my mind around mine, but I can see you using yours because it is small and they advertise that you can use it like you would a stamp. And we all know you LOVE your stamps!

Thanks for sharing this day with us. Seems it wasn't as large as it was either two or three years ago when I first followed you there.

Oh dear. I looked through all these fab photos last night then completely of orbit to comment! How rude! I love this post bit gives a real insight into a day at the PA stand. You've caught some lovely moments. I love the one of Leandra really laughing and Hugo quietly smiling just behind her. The samples are wonderful. I think I'm going to stay by the PA stand all day at PS. Love that rusting effect. Would love to see how Leandra does that. You have a wonderful stash of stencils there which I know I'm going to fall for. But with over a hundred stencils in my stash I really don't need any more - or do I!!lol. I love layering with lots of stencils - Dina Wakley taught me that - so these samples are fabulous in showing the marvellous effect of lots of layers. So pleased you had a great day! See you at PS!

Fab post Helen as usual. Love seeing the demos - really lovely samples. I might think about getting my gelli plate put again soon lol! You really did buy a lot of stencils.....but in my opinion you can never have enough stencils!! Hope you have a nice relaxing Sunday now playing with all your new stash! Claire xx

Lovely to see all the photos and read up about what I missed! Love your excuse for buying... it doesn't count if it's flat, yes? Despite their flatness, there seem to be quite a bit here and I bet you'll enjoy them with the Gelli plate (I haven't taken the plunge yet).

Looks like a great day and Ali Pali is such a stunning setting.
As to buying more stash...stencils are great as they take up NO room :-)

Thanks for these great photos Helen, wonderful for us "far aways" that can hardly ever make it to any of these shows... The stencils you got look amazing, as do all the makes of course....

It sounds as if everyone had a great time at Ally Pally. Thanks for sharing such a lot of fabulous photos - I feel as if I was there! Great to see so many demos going on. It looks a great day out all round. Thank you for your lovely comment and I'm glad you like my Zentangle tracings. I did manage to do a bit more today but no photos yet. I've got a busy couple of days ahead with probably no time for more, but at least I feel as if I'm making some progress now! Glad you like my old cases. Mum was chucking them out when we were clearing everything their house, and I knew I just had to keep them as they make a lovely feature, as well as being useful storage - they've got lots of lace and trimmings and things in them. I was going to restore them, but I rather like the beaten up look of them and the tatty handles!

Thank you for your kind thoughts - I am back on track now re my scan and I'm actually far more worried about my dental appointment tomorrow when I have to have a filling - I'm terrified of that!! I've put some nice music on my iPod and hope that will distract me somewhat, but nothing drowns out that ghastly noise...

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #46

Hi Helen. I didn't get chance to have a look at this last week. You obviously had a brilliant day. The trouble when Paper Artsy are around I just want to stay at their stall all day Lol! Have a lovely crafty week, Angela x
