Hello and we welcome you to another challenge from the Dragons. It's my turn again to choose the theme, and for some reason I chose the colour black (what was I thinking!!) and stencils - well that bit's ok! Don't forget you need to use at least one real stamp on your tag.
Anyhow, this is what I came up with.
I started with the Wendy Vecchi stripes stencil and black gesso. I decided to make a check pattern though by turning the stencil
Actually, if I'm being honest, this wasn't my first step...
my first step was to take the Sweet Poppy stencil which I bought months ago and don't think I've used before, and used black gesso onto a tag... it came out really blotchy, this is effort number 3.. I used one of the rejects to see if I could cut the poppies out whilst not letting it fall to pieces, which worked, so I did that on my best one, and stuck it to the background tag...
now, we must use a stamp... rummage, rummage for a suitable stamp...
'artful blooms' on the bottom of another tag, (from one of Lin Brown's Paperartsy plates) and fixed it to the bottom of the tag.
not sure if it shows in the picture, but I edged the tag with Treasure Gold (White Fire) and finished with a black ribbon.
Sorry, teamies, this was possibly a tougher challenge than I thought when I chose black as our colour, pop over to TIO to see what they dreamt up - and we'd love to see your efforts too!
Don't forget that stamp!

Love your tag and really looking to having a go at this theme. Lx
I enjoyed 'black' actually! It was a fun challenge as we often steer away from it - so thank you! Love your tag - the poppies look fabulous (eventually!!!) Mwah x
At first I thought 'Eeek! What is she thinking?' Then I absolutely loved using black and I've decided I should include it in projects much more, so many thanks Helen! I loved your project. I showed your tag to my son and he said that it reminded him of Banksy. I think I see what he means. Your tag has that really nice arty graffiti feel to it somehow! I reckon black gives everything edge! xxx
Fab colour choice Helen, fantastic Tag, clever cutting out, love the layers :-)
Gorgeous tag Helen - lovely take on 'black'
One of my fav stencils Helen and absolutely love what you have created with it. You will note I am sticking purely with craft this visit !!

OOoops! Sorry, remembered I hadn't been here to look at this properly! It is fabulous Helen! I really enjoyed the challenge and Thanks again for asking me! Chrisx
Maybe not so easy to go strickly black, but incorporating black in our artwork is always a plus. I love your black poppies on the checked background. Reading your process was a surprise as I thought the poppies were your real stamp. Well done and thanks for a great challenge theme.
I agree with Annie as I thought your poppies were the stamp till I read through. It turned out great imo. Admire your patience at cutting out the image though!

That's so cool! Who knew gingham could look so funky?! B&W is clearly the key... The flowers look stunning too - fabulous tag!
