Leandra's second Christmas Cracker video saw her doing a patchwork grunge paste technique which I loved - and having an unexpected day off work (long story!) I had a play...
I chose Lake Wanaka, Limelight, Stone and (unexpectedly) Space Cadet and a smaller, 5x7 canvas
I only added Space Cadet because I had lots of Lake Wanaka left mixed up and some spaces!!
I die cut a frame and stencilled a pattern on it with Space Cadet, which I then used to wet wash over the canvas.
I had some Prima flowers lying around in a box that never got put away, in the right sort of blues, so used them as my accents.
Now, the reason I am home - with the saga of the roof/ceiling on Christmas Eve I couldn't get in to work, and missed the message that the boss would ring us if she needed us in today and tomorrow - so went off at my normal time. Empty office, no-one there - so on checking, yes I am at home!!

Looks like you enjoyed yourself Helen. Much better than work. Like the combo of flowers ,arch and textures works well. Xx
Lol, poor you, at least you got to have a play day. Love it x
But how much more pleasing is it to be at home when you thought the day would be spent at work instead of relaxing with paint. Love the colours you have used,(even if to fill a gap or two) though I must admit, having been away from crafting for sometime I need to get familiar with the paint names that are now out. I did a bit of a 'Lake what??!!' :0)
Smashing Helen and defo much better than spending the day at work ;D! Pretty, pretty colours and love the flowered arch!

Scrummy background textures - however you wangled it (okay, it's an honest wangle!) - it's great you had some time to play!!
Hope you're having a lovely Christmas, and wishing you a wonderful 2014!

Hope you enjoyed your day off work Helen. Great patchwork piece and lovely colours. I bet this piece is so tactile. Love the arch. Hope you have had a good Christmas. Happy New Year. Tracy x
Fab colours & textures, must have missed 2nd patchwork video (how rude), great project:-)
You put your unexpected day off to excellent use, your canvas is wonderful.
Great way to spend your unexpected time off, way better than working and more productive too. Love the yellow you've put in there, really breaks the patchwork up nicely.

Loving this, Helen. It's so nice to go to work and discover that you actually don't need to be there - much better than thinking it's Sunday and snuggling down for a nice lie-in when it's actually Monday!!! Glad you had a play with such lovely results. I have been a bit busy; must catch those videos. Julie Ann xxx
It looks to me like your time was very well spent!! Your canvas is so pretty with yummy colors making a great textured background. Love the frame too!

Wow, Christmas eve really put everything out of whack, didn't it. I assume the drip in the ceiling is gone, and everything has dried up well.
I've never used grunge paste, but it looks like it would be fun to play with, especially after you showed your lovely spread. Those colors are so spring like. Makes me wish for warmer weather, with flowers blooming. Beautiful art that brought fond memories for me!!
Beautiful colours combo and great textur Helen! Have a wonderful New Year.

Enjoy your time off work (even if you had to go in to find out), I love your colours and textures - beautiful!
Nice texture! Good idea to add the flowers and arch.
