WOYWW 168 - tidy scraps!

Not Wednesday again - really??? You're here for WOYWW then.... check the link for Julia and she'll tell you all about it...

apart from a couple of DT pieces (come back later for the Tag it On one) I am still not back in full crafting mode after the Olympics..... so on Tuesday night, I decided to tackle my 'scraps' box....

which was not if nothing, full!  My dumping ground for all those teeny weeny bits of leftover favourite patterned papers that I couldn't chuck, and offcuts of this and that, rejected tags, and punched out bits and pieces.... so I started to delve....I was ruthless, anything not big enough to be useful, went, into the bin!
And this is all that is left.... and (for now anyway!) it's tidy....
the black (and under it the yellow) are pieces of fun foam and as there was only one sheet of each colour in the pack, I did keep these.... they probably won't be useful but....

other than that, I have a load of 'backs of tags' that I can use again, one day!!

Nothing much else going on here, craft wise for now (though do come back and see the Tag it On challenge later!)
Hope you have a good week, and I'll get to as many of your desks and spaces as I can, promise!

I hate throwing bits and pieces away, but it has to be done to make way for more bits and pieces......lol You did a great job clearing up. x

I hate chucking things but sometimes it has to be done.
Occasionally I will find that the patterned paper (which is always a bit thinner) seems to get wrinkled or dented by the other bits of paper. If I can't hink of a way to use them up wrinkled then I just have to get rid.

I reorganize my leftovers to reorganize my leftovers LOL I hate to throw stuff out not matte show small. I finally started donating it to the Girl Scouts now I feel better about clearing it out. Have a great day

I have boxes and boxes of scraps - I do use them, but then I add to them so there never seem to be any less. You've organised well. Hope you have a good week. Hazel WOYWW #8 x

Oh no sounds like you had a really cold hearted purging of the scrap table! I need to but like you I just need to be in the right frame of mind. Have a great week and thanks for sharing. Vickie #68

Wow, that's impressive, if it had been me I would have ended up with even more in the box - lol. Great job - are you busy this weekend, I could use a hand! Happy WOYWW, Anne #32

Sometimes you just have to stop and get organized! And it seems to take forever and get much worse before you're finished too, lol! I just finished unpacking mine, and it's so nice that I don't even know where to start!!! :D

We got rid of our scrapbok when it needed climbing rather than opening, we are starting to save pieces of paper 'just in case' though. So we may have another mountain soon.

Oh dear! You have reminded me that is a task I need to do too!!! Maybe when it's due to rain on bank holiday Monday! LOL

I cull my boxes on a regular basis and take the paper that I love and might not really use to the mentally handicapped old people not far from me here. The have aids that do memory albums for them as they can't communicate themselves properly, so it is important for people to know a little about them and the memory albums help communicate that. I used to do the memory albums with them for years but started to run out of time and took on more work. This way I never feel bad about culing my box as it is for a good reason and cause, actually I cull all sorts of scrapbooking stuff for them.

I am impressed with what you have done, great job.

I reorganised my whole craftroom, but the BIG container full of scraps? It went straight back under the table without me even looking at it. Now you have made me feel bad, so that is the next project I will tackle.

Yes, but the trouble is you never KNOW it's going to be useful until the day after you've thrown it out!! But congratulations on your willpower! Happy WOYWW!

Hi Helen thanks for popping to visit me. I too had a ruthless sort of scrap paper and card. I never thought to use pretty scraps to cover the back of tags (mine are always very messy) Thank you for sharing that! WOYWW Hugs to you from Helen 15

Good for you, tackling the scraps pile. I always go through and think of uses for everything and then I wish I hadn't bothered looking.

We all have piles like that believe me, I had to buy two small three drawer plastic drawer sets to store mine in! With the tiny pieces I immediately reach for the small flower of snow flake punches and just punch them out, saves me even storing the tiny bits.

I LOVE throwing things away!! Well done you for having a purge of your scraps - you can see what's left to make best use of now :) I think that's really what I've done with my fabric this week.

Thanks for stopping by. I keep all my scraps in plastic wallets per colour. Got the texture paste in Lorimers in Banstead btw. Will share the LO when I get round to doing it.

Fun foam can be really useful...I use scraps instead of foam tape to 3D things off a page, and don't forget you can paint it, so the yellow doesn't have to stay yellow!! Trish #90

I've been putting some of my scraps through the Cuttlebug and die-cutting them in the hope that I will make better use of the die-cuts. I hate to throw any away because sure as eggs is eggs I will be looking for just that piece in that colour tomorrow :) Your drawer does look tidy though. Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #105

I have tons of scraps. I have made ATCs out of some and did not make a dent in it. I try to check it when I am making cards. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. #25

It seems there's a positive epidemic of people tidying their creative spaces and getting rid of stuff! I'm certainly in the throes of it...

Thanks for your lovely comment, Helen. Dad was a bit better this a.m. but he's gone right down again tonight - my hubby has gone over again and is staying the night over there. He phoned to say he'd called the doctor again.

Happy belated WOYWW,

So far, I have managed to keep my scrapbox down to just one (I did double its size this year) and I have tried to use bits up this year. Hope you found all the tags that fell off your scanner. I didn't show my scanner/printer in my picture this week, but that is covered too. Thank you for your visit, and have fun with all your tags. xx #102

Turn your scraps into serendipity sheets! Quick way to use them up and create something....

Thanks for stopping by!

You could always use your scraps in Di's Playground. The only thing is you get a bit OCD about throwing anything away. Though if you clear stuff out you have more space which needs filling with new goodies!!
As if you need an excuse!! LOL!

I don't tend to clear out ~ I just move house! Well that's what seems to happen anyway.
We'll be on our 12th house move when we next relocate...(sigh).
23 years of being an expat tends to keep your bits and pieces to a minimum. Having said that I always want to keep everything.
Have a wonderful weekend whatever you get up to.

I must be the world's worse hoarder so cannot comment on what you have just been doing. I even hoard clothing that will not fit and has not a chance in heck of ever fitting!
So how about my craft stuff not being hoarded. It is just growing bigger and bigger and am off to the show today so no doubt will earn nothing as I will spend it all on the stand. Ah well!
Thanks for sharing and sorry I am so late this week. Hugs, Neet xx #58

Wow! You thinned a lot out of your scrap stash! Good for you! I love getting in the mood to purge. I feel so much better afterwards...well, until I look for something later and realized I threw it away! Does that make me a horder? Haha!

OMGee I'm so late...would like to say its because I've been clearing up and using my scraps...but of course I haven't. But you are setting a fine example my friend. And one day, I will follow you!

I need to get a little ruthless myself. I have little drawers for each color of card stock plus one for stamped & punched images and one for patterned paper. I think having these in full view sometimes keeps me from cutting new and making really nice stuff. Thanks for the inspiration.
