WOYWW 165

Hello all, and Happy Olympics! Really enjoying the Olympics - a few more medals would be nice, if I'm being greedy but.... the opening ceremony was fabulous (it probably helped if you knew a lot of British history but that was my favourite subject at school! but I thought it was inventive, very funny (I even laughed at Mr Bean and I don't normally) and so much to see. ) The venues look fantastic, and I am so proud to see the Olympics in my own country!  One of my neighbours is a 'Games Maker' volunteer - and she's based at Wimbledon for the tennis (it's quite near us) - I can't wait to catch up with her and find out how she's enjoying it. Whilst I am enjoying everything in the first week, I am really looking forward to the athletics that start on Friday.

So as you can imagine, I have been watching quite a lot of all sorts of sports I've never seen before, flicking between 24 channels showing everything imaginable!!  Accordingly, my patch on the floor is totally not creative at the moment .......I haven't so much as inked a stamp since last Thursday...***
The TV guide with pull out section.... day by day planning! So, you may not be surprised to hear that I may not visit many desks this week.... hope you all have a lovely creative time (I must get some DT pieces done at some stage, wonder if I could dispense with sleep for a couple of days....) so happy desk hopping, check out the link at Julia's pad here.  See you next week - may have some art to share!

***actually, that isn't quite true - I stamped a 'happy anniversary' to go on this card for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary which is today!
I forgot to re-photograph the card after I fixed the greeting to the front (and one inside too) - it's stamped with the cover-a-card trees stamp I got at Newbury, and the background is pan pastels. Hope they received it in time...

Oooh Helen, I could prctically have written your first paragraph myself! I so agree with everything you've written. I'm loving it, and also hoping for more British medals - our record in Beijing is a tough one to measure up to, though. As for Mr. Bean, I usualy can't stand Rowan Atkinson, but have to say I laughed like a drain all through that part! Brilliant. The Opening Ceremony was so amazing that I almost ran out of "Wow's" and then when the cauldron was lit, and the stems and petals moved, I thought I would burst...

As a result of all this I'm not doing much creating at the moment either! - added to which there are other things going on!

Happy WOYWW,

I am not playing in WOYWW this week, but stopped by to see you. Not many British friends seem to be talking about the Olympics as I thought they would. I've had my head in the craft studio, so haven't had a chance to catch any of the games. Ironic, since I'm a big fan. Glad you are enjoying them, at least.

I too am a bit fixed on the Games and I loved the opening ceremony. Did I tell you Danny Boyle's twin sister used to work with me, we once went head to head for a promotion too.
Aside from all of that love that stamp, you must tell me who does it - it is Gorg.
Thanks for sharing - Hugs, neet xx #27

i was a bit underwhelmed by the first bit of the opening ceremony. Liked NHS, mr bean and the bond bit. It did get better after those bits.

not done much crafting either but not much watching olympics...more watching baby.

Not watched a bit of it, I'm afraid. Too engrossed in the Game of Thrones books :) Maybe I'll catch some gymnastics at some point, but maybe not :)

Enjoy!

You and Craig both are waiting for the Athletics :) He has actually been coming in and spending actual time with us rather than working 24/7. When I say 'with us' we have to be prepared to watch the Olympics too ;) I've been enjoying the gymnastics and genuinely felt bad for the Russian girl last night who took a tumble.

Your card is gorgeous, so atmospheric!

I am a complete Olympics nut too - it has been wonderful and sucks boo to all the killjoys who winged about everything before it started!! I have really enjoyed seeing the Brits, medals or not. Respect to Sir Simon Rattle and the LSO for knowing they were going to get completely upstaged by Mr Bean... and kudos to our wonderful Queen who showed she DOES have a sens of humour!
Love that tree stamp, really beautiful!!

Hi Helen, I haven't been completely fixated on the Olympics but I did watch much of the cycling and gymnastics. I haven't watched the tennis - after Wimbledon, I'm not sure I can take the stress all over again. Oddly, I found the Mr Bean bit hilarious too, yet I normally do not so much as titter at his antics! Hope you have a lovely Olympic weekend. Elizabeth x #63
