WOYWW 138

I am beginning to think someone doesn't want me to write my WOYWW posts recently- I got home from work on Tuesday to find there'd been a power cut and had to re-set various clocks/radios/timers etc and then came to turn on the computer - nothing, nada zilch.... the base unit was ok, but the screen - nope.

Fiddled around, turned it off and on again, (you know, the old IT failsafe...) eventually tried the leads to make sure they were ok -bingo! finally found the lead to the screen was slightly loose - now, how can that be, I didn't do anything different last night when I turned it off to go to bed, but today - it just fell out all by itself... anyhow at least it's ok and I don't have to buy a new one!!!

So, you're probably here to see my workdesk today.  Well, I'm still in a journalling mood at the moment, or at least working in the book I call my journal - I don't do any baring my soul stuff .... so this is the latest page in progress on the floor.... waiting for something to strike me to finish it off.

Inks are distress stains in tumbled glass, faded jeans broken china and picket fence. stamps are by Dina Wakley (I love them, and need/want some more....) You can see them just to the right of the craft mat. Behind the journal is my latest favourite - portfolio pastels - they are fantastic - water soluble oil pastels. They actually arrived last Wednesday but way after I'd WOYWW'd!
OOh, look what happened in the close up. Still needs some tweaking though...

Now, I wouldn't be "stampingbyh" if I didn't have something (else) new to show....

On Saturday I was looking for some spraybottles (failed) to use for some watered down paint to spray on the journal - but I did find these cool frames and foam sheets, in the £1 shop.
I'd have preferred lighter coloured foam really and I am not totally sure what I'll use it for... but the frames are great.  They look all nice and distressed before I even start distressing them!
I also bought this storage box - meaning to use it for my Tim Holtz idea-ology but at present I can't bear to decant it all from its packets to put in here so it's still empty.  Not sure why I like having them in the packets, they take up more space than I have.... check back next week to see if I've taken the plunge!

Anyhow, have a good Wednesday and I'll get round as many of you as I can.

Love the journal page - I really wish I could do stuff like that but I think I am too uptight or something... it just looks a mess when I do it!! ;) I have those storage tubs as well... well, I have them on my scraproom wall at home in Scotland, they are really great for organising embellies but like you... the TH and 7G stuff tends to stay in its packaging!!

Love the journal page. I think it turned out very nice~ I used to have the same issue about keeping it in the packaging but I found some little containers to use and now they are stored there. Interesting thing is I am now using them more. I think when I have them in the packages I tend to hoard them a bit more! Hope you have a great week. Thanks for sharing! Vickie #27

Hi there. Thanks for sharing your creative space with us nosey parkers today. It's always inspiring to see. Hope you have plenty of creative fun this coming week. Those stamps are lovely, I have a couple too and need more. I used to keep my TH stuff in it's packet too, now I just put it in little boxes, I find it easier to use that way.

Lovely colours on your journal page - in fact, my favourite colour ever! I like the stamp too, funky!
If you like leaving things in the packaging, then you do it. You must have a will of iron though, I couldn't do that. I'm a teeth ripper of cellophane, I am!! Lol

Seems like Blogger may be starting to play ball with me again!

Love your art journal - sweet colours, eh?

I love the RUBS too - but totally get what you mean about not wanting to decant the Ideology out of the original packaging - it seems almost sacriligeous....!

Thanks for stopping by.

Fab journal page, love the colours!!!
Spray bottles...I get mine online from a dog grooming website (yes really) called HUB international...cheap, and really nice fine sprays.
Foam..doesn't matter what colour it is to begin with, emboss it through your ciuttlebug(or whatever) then paint it.Whatever colour you need, works great!!! Trish xx #44

Can understand why you want to leave the Ideology bits in their packs - they look so pretty but I sorted all mine out the other week. Got a big and deep Really useful box and a couple of divider trays and all my bits went in along with watch parts and various other metal pieces.
Love the journal pages, like you I started mine to experiment and stamp rather than 'bear my heart' stuff - far too English for that.
As for spray bottles, you could buy the hand sanitisers from the pound shop and empty them - or use it all up and have very, very clean hands.

I looked for spray bottles recently because I joined Traci bautista's Strathmore workshop. The bottles I bought were kind of big and I haven't started using them yet for stencilling. Wonderful frames you've found! Patsy from

Love the journal pages, they are coming along a treat. You could use the neoprene to make stamps from your dies. RUB are THE best boxes ever. It took me an age to remove my Tim stuff from the packages, but then I found 'plastic' so now do it at once and die cut the plastic.

P.S I have saved the packages ....bit of a cop out but could not bring myself to part and they are now in the loft!!!! There is no hope is there?!! LOL

Had Blogger bugs and dud links all week so know how you feel. I have those frames too!!! ...and have altered them already - they are fab and take paint so well after a quick sand and are nice and flat! Great pages on show there - might pick up that journal bug soon myself. Thanks for sharing, wishing you a creative week, Sarah. (at no.38 - NOT 8! A dud link)

Lovely journal book Helen, but I think I am in the same "uptight" boat as the Voodoo Vixen at the top!
I have the same issues about decanting my TH stuff. It is like it is not TH stuff once it is out of the packets - silly really!
Looking forward to seeing your cards Helen for RD!! I will be checking!!

I know what you mean about decanting into storage ...I tend to delay the act for ages too....must look out for those frames ... they are brilliant.
Now we come to your art work ...I LOVE what you are doing ....the colours and the stamps are great together ...so much freedom in what you are doing.xx

One day, you'll be just fiddling with a packet and suddenly you'll find it a real faff and then bingo! the new boxes will be used. No hurry..the mistake is not having the new boxes ready and waiting, because that just causes masses more online shopping! Like the striped effect you've got on your journal pages, had to go back and reread for stains or inks. Nice...very regular!

sandysewin said...

Your journal page looks like a beautiful start. Love the colors!

I can't seem to get into journaling myself, but that's ok. One less craft to work on!

Those organizer boxes look great, but I agree, the Tim stuff is hard to see when it's all in a pile, rather than nicely in its packaging.

Happy Woyww,

I love your journal page. I can see why you'd want more of those stamps. Hmm, I'm going to a locally owned stamp store Friday - will have to take a peek and see what I find.

The frames look like they'll be fun. I bought an old wooden frame at the thrift store last weekend and can't wait to do something with it.

Hey Helen, knew you would love those Portfolio pastels and glad to see you still using your Dina stamps. Your journal is filling up quite nicely now.....it's very addictive isn't it??

Now storage boxes, I know what you mean about it being a chore and believe me, I have unpacked more boxes recently than anybody should do in one lifetime but and this is a big but, when you've done it, you will love it. You can instantly see what you have in each little box....I have the same boxes as you. Go on grab yourself a cuppa and a bar of chocolate, put your favourite music on and before you know it, you're sorted!!!

I love the journal pages. And I agree about taking things out of their packages. I like to leave them too, but it does take up too much space. I'm getting much better at taking things out of their packages now that I have a small scrap space instead of a room!

Your journal is looking wonderful!

Neet said...

Go for it girl and get decanting that TH stuff - you can then free up space to buy more.
The funfoam stuff - why not diecut it and make some shadow stamps with it. You could use some stamping with them on those lovely frames you bought.
Loving your journal - I (when I DO journal)am not a bare the soul type either - rather prefer it to be an art journal with my stamping in it. Each to his own they say.
Thanks for your comments - they mean so much. Hugs, Neet #6

Hi Helen, your floor space is looking productive with all those paints and stamps around your mat. Love the blues in the journal pages. You certainly have an eye for a bargain - those frames look just right for a bit of creative treatment. What bothers me about decanting the wee bits and pieces from packets is that the vital information contained on said packet will be forgotten by the time I've used them up - so I cut the information off the packet and store it with the wee things in my very handy little storage boxes/jars, etc. Anyway, your storage looks fab. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #45

What! Can it be?? Is Helen getting organised?? All in good time, and that's a good tip from Elizabeth about cutting out the important bit from the packaging, always nice to know where stuff came from. Looks like you were very restrained with your stash shopping this week, but those frames are a bargain.
