WOYWW 136 - WIP

Here we are again - Wednesday already! Doesn't Christmas seem a long time ago?!  I am kind of back in the swing of working again, although feeling very discombobulated at present. Won't go into details here (yet) as I need to do some serious thinking.....

My very dirty craft sheet on the floor (must get out the new one out, one day!) this week shows a work in progress (depending on how much I get done before I have to hit "post" for this week's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) - the brainchild of Julia - and comes courtesy of Lin's inspiration the other day here - don't you just LOVE her tags? - and Paperartsy Fresco paint - which I adore!!

I couldn't wait to have a go.... my masking tape is old, and of the low tack variety so I hope it's going to work...
The texture doesn't really show up much, but these are the colours of paint I used (and later added some honey dew as well)

I decided to stamp straight onto the tag and used a couple of Dina Wakley stamps - Lonely Girl is stamped in coffee archival, the blobs are with distress inks. The text is from Wendy Vecchi.

Lin, it's a great technique and one I shall practice!
I mopped up the surplus paint with a page in my journal - another WIP!

The clear out hasn't continued much either - had a very lazy weekend - but I did fill another black sack with some more old videos for the rubbish... slowly, slowly, catchee monkey as they say!  Maybe I'll get some more done this weekend!

Hope to get round as many of your desks or other creative spaces as I can this week - managed a bit better last week!

I do like that tag you have created. I think 2012 is all about using up the leftovers for journal pages. Looks good and an idea I think i will copy.

Fabulous tag. And cleaning seems to be in style. Guess that's what I should have been doing while offline for so long, but I guess I needed inspiration. Happy WOYWW (#3).

Cleaning seems to be on most people's agenda... it must be an after Christmas thing!! Your tag is lovely, the colours are fabulous and I love the idea of using the excess to make journal pages.

Oh that colour combo screams FALL and so nice to see this time of year. I get so seasonal and head towards the blues and whites and then I really just eed something like this, with a shot of colour to perk me up. Love the technique too. Fab.

Hi Helen
The tag on my desk uses Lin's technique too! Hope you sort out your work dilemma - I packed in my job 3 months ago and have been able to take a few months off but now need to think about finding something again - scary

Tag looking very good in deed. However, if I had a paint covered craft sheet on the floor, there would be coloured foot prints all round the house!!LOL

My idea of tidying is to move stuff from one side of the room to the other but I did have a mini clear out the other day. Will probably get to the middle of next week before I get the 'if only I had...' feeling.
I'm also joining the 'mop up excess paint with a journal page' gang as you get such interesting results - love your tag as well.

Love that tag Helen, great sunny colours. Hope you decide soon about the thing that's making you discombobulated! I feel a bit like that too, I think it's a New Year thing! I posted the wrong link to WOYWW, so I've posted the correct one now.

Love your tags! bet they look amazing in person, camera never does justice to colours I am finding.

Carmen said...

I do that with the excess paint too :D Also if you use stencils and have finished using them flip them over and flatten them in there too - you'll get a negative print with all the excess paint.

Lovely tag. I am going to start producing tags soon, have decided to start playing in Tag Tuesday http://tagtuesday.blogspot.com to get my techniques brushed up.

Hope things get sorted at work soon.

Loving the tag, Helen, nice choice of colours and stamps. wish I could remember to swipe something over the mess I make on my craftsheet before I get the wet wipe out but it's second nature to clean up as I go and I usually only remember afterwards :( I hope that whatever is discombobulating you rights itself soon. Have a good week. Elizabeth x #96

Not getting much of my sorting out done either. The desk is tidy (ish0 but then most of it is on the floor in disorganised piles whichIi need to move in order to get to the wardrobe door. Catch 22 as they say. Love the colour combination on your tag. Hugs Mrs A. #120

Those colours are just right to cheer us up with the damp weather we have at the moment. Thank you for your visit earlier. If you still wanted to make bread, you could always put half of each loaf in the freezer for later in the week. xx Maggie #105

Your second photo had me thinking that your tag sure was super bright, but the finish project isn't as overwhelming as I thought. In fact, it is fabulous!

Yep, one little step at a time and the cleaning project will happen. It sounds like you are still chipping away at it.

Hazel said...

Love the way you created the tag and a good idea to mop up the surplus ready for a journal page - thanks for the peep at your workspace(Hazel, WOYWW 67) x

the colours you used are lovely and "hot hot hot" making for a cheerful background on which you worked.
Brave lady throwing the videos out, yep, they are not much use now but somehow I keep thinking ....
Thanks for sharing and good luck with whatever (discombob).

Sorry to be so late, started at the other end of the list...phew it's a long one!
I hope you are thinking and thinking and not in a scarey situation that's going to force change on you rather than you be in charge ... I have you in my thoughts..my consellor friend told me to avoid life changing decisions for a while after my sister died, adn do you know, she was right, I was ready todo some stupid changes on that 'life's too short' premise. Im glad youve had a break from clearing too - you so have to be in the mood for it and it has to fit in with your real life too, otherwise it all becomes a bit unreal and sad. Now then..that tag is ace! I love the stamped straight onto finish..it's marvellous and of course, colours are so much more me. Must whizz over and *tell* Lin to make samples with big colours!!

Lori said...

Hey there friend, great tag! Hope things are going well with you... sounds like you're in the midst of making decisions.. best of luck in that.... will be thinking about you!

This looks like a technique I shall definitely have to try. Can't waste anything, well done for using up every last scrap of paint.
