Bump and Crackle... journal pages

Really on a creative spurt at the moment, thanks in no small part to Leandra's periscopes for Paperartsy.

A couple of journal pages for you now,

I started this one with some leftover Pumpkin Soup (Fresco paint)  which I doodled in blobs on my journal page, then took some Beach Hut and did the same.

I filled the space with Antarctic and painted some crackle glaze over the blobs only.

Let that dry (used the heat gun, it was applied too thickly really, I should have scraped some off)  then when it was dry stamped the Kay Carley flower over the top..

Added a thick layer of Chalk over the blobs.. used a brush but because the crackle glaze was too thick it hasn't crackled very well.

stamped the flower again in black archival randomly over the page - not using an acrylic block to get an uneven look...

coloured some of the flowers with a yellow Pitt pen
Stamped two of the quotes from the new Lin Brown set...

Country View Craft have a challenge of "make your own background so I am entering this one there..

close up of the crackle and background.

the second part of the blog title, "bump" is on the other side of the spread.(left hand side)

I had a big blob of Pumpkin Soup on the top of the bottle and didn't want to waste it... daubed it on the journal page... big mess.

Covered the rest of the  page in Beach Hut... bigger mess!  Painted over the first part of the Pumpkin Soup with Snowflake, added more Pumpkin Soup.  Another layer of Beach Hut..

Stencilled (one of Lin Brown's new ones) the flower in Snowflake

edged down the edges of the Pumpkin Soup using a Pitt Brush pen in Green Gold (it looks just like the Pumpkin Soup colour, not much green about it!) and then the white one on top

Stencilled the words (same stencil) in Little Black Dress, then bumbed and stencilled in Snowflake

This page ended up a lot better than it deserves to be after a ropey start!

Harry's Playing in the Puddles

Country View Crafts have a new challenge for February, "drips and drops" and I immediately knew what I wanted to do.

I grabbed a canvas (it measures just under 6 x 8 inches) and the Primary Cyan and Turquoise Shimmer misters from Deco Arts
started with the Cyan, spritzed and let it run, adding water to speed the drips.
shook the Turquoise a bit hard, ended up with a load of ink inside the lid, so used that too to make some circles. They dripped a bit too.
some more drips, and also used the Shimmer White too, which seems much thicker and less inclined to drip.

Some more circles with black gesso, and stamped some of the raindrops from Water Effects 2 (stamps by Ryn) onto the canvas in black archival. and some of the bigger rain drops with Snowflake fresco.

Harry (aka Feather Bird by Lost Coast Designs)  is stamped in black archival  on tissue and painted in Chalk fresco lightly on the back, and then watered down Beach Hut from the front, to blend the torn edges into the background more.

"play in the puddles" is a stamp from Hobby Art, stamped on white card and a couple of drops of the Cyan, watered down to blend it over the text.  I edged it with a broad nibbed pen to make it stand out more on the canvas.

Finished with some splatters of the white mister made by tapping the end of the spray tube.

Had great fun with this, it was a shame whilst I was doing it, Andy Murray lost in the Australian Open tennis final, but you can't have everything you want!!

Dream...

Good Morning and welcome to 2015!  You find me playing in my journal for the first time in ages - I was bored yesterday evening waiting for the firework display from the banks of the River Thames in London - which were fantastic - and so I got out some sprays..

I had some daubs of black paint on a journal page, and took the Deco Art Media sprays - a red, and a turquoise shimmer (which really does catch the light now I can see properly this morning!) and white shimmer too.

lots of drips and runs - these media paint sprays drip so well!

Cracked open my box of Gelatos and used a red and a turquoise round the edges, blending with a barely damp paintbrush
Stencilled Little Black Dress Fresco paint through a Crafters Workshop stencil (Mini xoxo) round the edges and spine.

Stamped two of the images from TH Winged Things II on white Smoothy card (Paperartsy) and cut them out, coloured the wings and crown with gelatos and fixed to the page.

Outlined the stamped images with a black Sharpie pen, then added some white shimmer splatters by just flicking the end of the mister spray (now need to clear up the stray splatters...)
Determined to play more in my journal(s) again this year - this is a good start
I'm entering this to the Country View Challenge - new things - as there are lots of new things here (sprays, stencils, stamps gelatos )

Journal page - inspired by Ellen Vargo for Paperartsy

Wow, what a week we've enjoyed again at Paperartsy - loads of beautiful projects from the designers.
I only had time for one though, and took my inspiration from Ellen's ledger page, here .

I don't have a ledger journal, so used my mini ledger stencil and sponged some sepia ink randomly over the page.
Lots of layers of scraped paint, following Ellen's methods, I used Limelight and Chartreuse on my first layer then Honey Dew, Hey Pesto and more Chartreuse Love how the sepia stencilling still shows under the translucent paints.
stencilled circles and stamped the circle Ellen stamps using Honey Dew and Chartreuse (kind of mixed together) before stencilling the seed pod - didn't want to completely copy Ellen's.
Used the mini parquet stencil for my border, and a brown Inktense pencil blended with a water brush round the dictionary page.
and a different Lin Brown quote
off for an afternoon sport fest now, entering this to the Paperartsy challenge here and Country View Crafts - Stencil it - here
