WOYWW 639

Happy Wednesday, deskers!  It's WOYWW  (and September!)   After Julia mentioned a couple of weeks ago that she was sorting through her card stocks that she would no longer use,  I commented to her that I could have found some of them a home and before I knew it she was offering to send me some... Now, you may think after last week's post I couldn't possibly need any more card blanks, but hey!!

as you can see they arrived

I went shopping on Monday (it was a bank holiday here in the UK so I had an extra  day off),  I couldn't find what I went for, but ended up with another pack of the makeup sponges I've been using for distress inks lately,  and some Posca paint pens.

I even got a couple of journal pages made at the weekend

Sunday was the 24th anniversary of my sister's death and I was thinking about her a lot, and in the end made a journal page to document it

just behind the faces is a white on white collage tissue face from one of Dina's packs,  representing Maggie...in the background, never forgotten.

it's all her fault I am surrounded by all this crafting stash, you know, she came across a lady selling rubber stamps at a school fair when my oldest nephew was small, and the rest, as they say, is history.....
then slightly happier,  is a page I just splodged together on Monday,  using a piece from one of the Facebook classes I took with Dina Wakley (the power of marks I think it was called)  that I tore up and glued over a painty background.

Last week's Kew pics are here....   I am fed up saying I hope next weekend is slightly warmer/sunnier/drier  so I won't bother this week as it never happens!

Happy WOYWW  and see you soon

I think both of your journal pages are lovely - and the one a beautiful commemoration of your sister. I wondered - do you call those flowers black-eyed susans? We do in the USA. Just curious :)

Happy WOYWW,

What a lovely remembrance of your sister Helen - which you do every time you craft in a way. What a nice thought of Julia to send you some card blanks and envelopes too. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Your page got me thinking - I have some very difficult photos to scrapbook, come May and July. As one of my son's friends lost his life at 21yrs. Next door neighbour's grandson so we'd known him since he was days old. It hit me hard. looking back through the photos was bad enough, oh my.... BJ#??

That’s a really lovely way to remember your sister and is so apt given it’s her fault you got dragged into crafting ❤️ Love the Kew pic too, very autumnal which matches the change in the weather!

a sad but creative time. I think your page is a lovely idea and may pinch it as it will be twelve months anniversary of Peter's death next month.
I have been wondering what I could do . . . . I may, after all these years - the word is may - start a journal just for his anniversaries!
Always inspiring you are.
Have a good week

So sorry to learn about your sister - she must have been very young. It was also the 24th anniversary of Princess Diana's death yesterday, so you lost your sister just two days before that! What a lovely tribute and especially poignant as she started you on your art journey. Love your messy art page - as you know I'm a big fan messy! Have a lovely week, Helen! xx zsuzsa #20

I am sorry for your loss Helen, I am hopeful that expressing the thoughts on the journal page helps a little with the ache. I have as of yet to scrapbook any of the grandparents I have lost yet. that may not happen at any time soon either. I would gladly send you some of the warmth we have in exchange for some smoke free air. :) ~Stacy #22

Your pages are lovely, as always, Helen. I am so sorry to hear that you lost your sister so young. Her legacy certainly lives on, though, if it was her influence that got you started on this exciting creative journey.

Happy WOYWW,

I love the art journal page about your sis, the idea of representing her that way on the background is awesome and so symbolic. Beautiful! We finally have nice weather in Holland (after a lot of rainy, windy days/weeks) and I do hope your weekend will be warm, sunny and dry too! Enjoy! Hug from the Netherlands, Marit #4

Aw Helen, having cocked up the morning, it’s only right that I’m really late getting around isn’t it! I love that it was Maggie that set you off on this long and consuming journey, I wonder if she could see your stash if she’d want to get stuck in with you. Her memory has made for a lovely journal page. And thanks for the card, it’s on kitchen window sill reminding me to go and do something at my desk. I hope it works. It’s Friday and has turned into a beautiful sunny evening….I don’t want to knobbly it, so hope tomorrow is as good a day! Xx
