WOYWW 622

Welcome to May and Wednesday - time for another WOYWW . The day of the week when we meet up at Julia's and share our crafty spaces

Unbelievably we're 2 weeks away from our 12th anniversary - and we're planning an atc swap again this year - should have remembered that at the weekend and made some!!

anyway, till then, it's desk time..

I enabled again.... more Dina Wakley stuff....

the new release items will be sent when Art From The Heart get them in stock...early May they're expected... watch this space!

so forgetting to think about atcs, I had some play time in my new 6x6 inch journal

forgot to photograph in daylight too so the colours are off

starting page, went wrong - or at least I didn't like how it started, so I covered it all in black gesso ad sprayed on some of the new pastel gloss sprays

they don't look especially glossy over the black gesso, but I quite like the look.

I also sprayed some of the pastel colours on watercolour paper which also dulled the gloss down,  and stamped some of the "ledger girls" stamp set on it and fussy cut tem.

then I wanted to try the ruby paint - it's a bit darker than shown here, due to the poor living room light bulb!

the patterns are some of Dina's collage tissue sheets torn and stuck down before applying colour

a work in progress with no clear idea where the pages are going.

Saturday saw me leaving home mega-early for my Kew entry slot - you may remember from previous years I love to go at 8am when they allow this between May and September for members, (still have to pre-book a time slot) and Saturday was the first of them.
Some of you saw the sneak peeks on facebook - for the rest of you - the blog is here
new installation for the summer

the blossom has been spectacular this year

That's it for me - will be along shortly to see your workspace.

Loving you journal pages, completed and I progress. I finally ordered some paint but had such trouble with the basket! I ended up with TWO eggplants and no marine! Bah! Kew looks lovely as ever and hopeful for a summer getting out and about. I do hope the weather improves.
Happy Woyww

Loving your pages I, actually at last got some gesso. Now, all I have to do, is work out what to do with it! Been watching some YouTube vids. The wiggly sideways path is amazing...not a good thing, if you've had one to many though! Stay safe. Have a Great crafty week and a Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #6

These gloss sprays seem to behave differently on every surface, could be a very useful tool. If you can remember what they do on what...the old remembering thing might be a stumbling block for me! Quite like the ledger girls, although I prefer a tad more detail. No doubt you’ll use them and use them.
I typed and lost a comment on your Kew photos (my fault, not blogger,). Lovely pics, you’d never know how cold it was from the gorgeous light and sun! Not sure about this new installation....might need some artist context. Is it meant to be seating? a shelter? Just a shape? As you can tell, not speaking to me at all!!!

Happy WOYWW. Loving the start of those journal pages. I will be creating some ATCs this week or next (depending on other commitments). No idea what yet! Kew is looking magnificent in the sunshine. Lots of blossom around here too. Ali x #15

I must admit that I forgot about the ATCs, so concentrating on work!!
When one looks back at your photos, it's amazing just how much Kew changes throughout the year, sometimes the month.
I am almost tempted with the gloss sprays but I bought some metallic paints last month so I need to use them a bit more.
Have a good week

Any chance you might be addicted to the Dina Wakley, stuff LOL? It's ok, no judging from me! I went through periods of being addicted to different things, gelatos, watersoluable crayons, colour pencils, Sizzix dies etc, etc, - I had to wean myself off them! It's admirable that you're willing to get up so early on your day off, but I bet it's worth it if it means you beat the crowds! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #20

Hi Helen. Fabulous shots of Kew. I haven't been across to Bodnant yet - have to get my head around booking a slot, and keep forgetting!! Oops - must be my age. You have been busy in your journals, too - well done you.
Take care. God bless.

Your pages are great - I love the effects on black gesso, it's come out really well, I find it a difficult colour to work on. The Ledger girls stamps look really good, I love that style.
Hope you have a great week,

I seem to have abandoned FB of late - no real reason but just don't hardly go on so your photos were new to me. Love that blossom and the installation looks pretty awesome too.
I think I have found a Dina fan here - love her paints and those ledger girls might end up in my basket at some time. Thanks for the enabling.

HI Helen, I have moved my sprays and bottles of acrylic paints up higher off a cart to on a file cabinet in the hopes that having them more in my line of sight means I will use them more often. and I have decided that if the sprayers are clogged that maybe that is just something I can stick in there and dab and flick some of the color out. ( I really just need to make a ton of backgrounds I think some time and use some more things up) :) love the texture the ledger adds to the girls too. ~Stacy #29

Thanks for your visit, Helen - I added 4 more squares to the kitty throw this p.m. in the absence of my hubby and hope to complete that column (#8) tonight after he's in bed. It's getting pretty unwieldy to deal with! I'm glad you enjoyed the garden pics - can't compete with Kew, of course, but my hubby does pretty well! We love it.

Thank you for your good wishes re the boob lump. I have got an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the nurse practitioner at the surgery and she will be able to determine whether I need to be referred on.

Hi Helen! Sorry I missed you last week, and this week I'm a day late, but at least I'm here! Your journals are making me itch to get back to making journals like yours again, so much fun! I love that new installation, kind of like a roller coaster, something we've all been on for the last year! Have a great week, Lindart #34

Trying to catch up on commenting - it is already Friday! The problem is because we are 9 hours in front I can't manage it on Wednesday and then the time just flies!
I love those face stamps and I have just ordered a 6 by 6 journal! I must get organised with some ATCs...

Happy WOYWW!
