WOYWW 555

Welcome deskers - another WOYWW has rolled around!  Head to the Stamping-Ground for the link and other desk.
So I've done a fair bit of playing this week - yay!!
First up I had to make some birthday cards for some crafting buddies (but they won't see them here so that's ok)
both started out on mixed media paper (bought a pad in Cass Art yonks ago and only used 1 sheet before (it's still attached to the pad)  USING UP STUFF... wow, go me!!

masterboard type background with Distress Oxide sprays and multiple stamping
this was part way through
 one of the finished cards.

I love the Tim Holtz paper dolls but always struggle to incorporate them, so am pleased to be able to do so here
second card, similar idea, different colours and stamps
(the background stamps are Tracey Scott for Paperartsy)  and the figure is of course, by Dina Wakley

then, because I hadn't had enough of distress oxides on this fab paper- it really holds up to sprays and water well -  I kept going
they both started with this one, and greens and yellow sprays.  then I put a second sheet on top of the first one to blot/create a second page

I've done extra colours and started the stamping on this one
but not yet on this one.

Really having fun with this (and want some more Oxide sprays in other colours now....)

I had a fantastic day in the sunshine at Kew last Saturday - really cold, frosty early on - but beautiful...
lots of pics here (as always)

here's one to tempt you!

Looking forward to seeing what you're working on

Cool master boards Helen and the cards you made from the first one are great. I do like the Oxide sprays. Best deal if you are buying a set of 12 is probably Joanna Sheen website. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

Wow, look at you being super creative and using stuff up! Cards are lovely, I’m going to point my friend Nancy over to you, she has a bag of the TH dolls and we always laugh at her, she loves ‘em but doesn’t know what to do with them.im sure I wouldn’t either! Loving the use of distress inks, very effective. I don’t have the sprays and am not about to start on them, I don’t do enough of your sort of art to need them, let’s face it. Aren’t I being a grown up!!

You've been so productive Helen, i'm envious!! I especially love the second card, the colours and background stamp work beautifully together. I too love the paper dolls but just seem to collect them hee hee.. must take a leaf out of your book and use them more. Happy WoywW Tracey #10

I'm with Julia on this one - won't be buying the sprays. Don't get on with them and my bank balance has learned to not go with the trend but with what I really want (and need). Proof of me and sprays is on my desk but I do't think you can see the mess as the fairies cover it up.
Nice cards - very arty.
Hugs, Neet 11 xx

Thanks for the visit. I really love your master boards. They are on my agenda for today. Rain and Ice so I won't be going anywhere AGAIN. WINTER I need a break. I love the paper artsy items. Seems a lot I LOVE comes from other countries. Have a great week.

Beautiful master boards! I have been adding the oxide sprays to my distress collection very slowly as my budget allows when I find them on sale. Great use of Tim Holtz' paper dolls. #28

So nice that you've found time to play this week. Your masterboards are fab - very usable. I think I'd find those TH paper dolls hard to use too, so I'll resist the temptation. Hope you get another good day at Kew this weekend. Hugs, Elizabeth x #20

Hi Helen, loving how you've used the paper dolls. I have some but they seem to have become a collectable item at mine as I never seem to find a way of using them. Need to do something with them soon. Wishing you a happy and creative woyww, Angela x16x

Lovely masterboards and cards! It wasn't exactly my idea to photocopy my masterboard, I got the idea from Nina Ribena who photocopied hers on several different kinds of paper and in different sizes. It makes perfect sense, as I can use the same masterboard over and over! Thanks for your, visit, have a great week! Lindart #27

You are doing great things on your mixed media paper, Helen. I love how you use multiple layers, and such subtle colours. Beautiful work. I am sure the recipients of the cards will absolutely love them. I like the Tim Holtz paper dolls too, and have been watching him demo colouring them with the new distress glaze embossing powders at Creativation. I've simply got to get those...

Gorgeous frosty Kew pic, too!

Thank you for your visit and your good wishes. The final 2 prs of pants did arrive today and at first glance they look OK, but I shan't be trying them on till I get undressed tonight. Today it's been far too cold to strip off unnecessarily lol!

I'm so glad you like my creative efforts this week. I have enjoyed doing the painted letters and will definitely be doing some more. In the studio I am continuing to work on the envelopes for the shutter cards. The cutting machine forum lady has been so brilliant - nothing is too much trouble for her it seems, and today she tells me she is recovering from flu! What a star.

Yay indeed... on the playtime, on the using up stuff, and on those fabulous cards. The backgrounds have such depth and richness, and I love both the Paper Doll and the Dina silhouette version. Looks like you're having lots of fun with those Oxides.
