WOYWW 492

We're here again!  Gathering for our weekly desk-share desk-bare fun!   What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday
Julia has the linkup here...
the supplies I had out last week, have been put to use, I have created 4 sheets of tissue masterboard backgrounds

I abandoned the distress oxides after a couple of layers on the first one, and reverted to Paperartsy Fresco paint (my go-to!)  although one (bottom left) I did use Infusions.

after that I stamped a layer of Christmas images - words, snowflakes, and some stars.

Obviously, because that would mean I was far too organised, I haven't done anything else and actually cut them up and put them on card blanks!

but we have a little more progress!

So that's me for this week; I'll catch up with your desks very soon!  If you  missed it, last weekend's trip to Kew is here   Not sure if I'll go this weekend, I want to visit the Imperial War Museum (London) to see the Tower Poppies and some other exhibits in remembrance of the end of WW1; but the weather isn't meant to be great so I may force myself to stay home and make Christmas cards!!  Watch this space, as they say!

I think you have the right idea, slowly slowly make the Christmas stuff and you won’t feel the old Noel fatigue! Must admit the Imperial War Museum sounds like a fab trip, i think it will be very moving. Oddly, I’m findin the lights at the Tower even more moving than the poppies.

Slow is always the way to go...
Thanks for the visit - yes, hitting refresh quite a lot this morning - but we're up and running now!
Happy WOYWW :)

I'm finding i'm using tissue more and more these days as its so forgiving and you can fold and store it so much easier than card. Your on a roll again now Helen.. i'm expecting good things to emerge by next week.
I'd have loved to have visited the Tower Poppies this year..

Apparently I read that the tower of London was lighting up the moat every night that would be great to see. Miss things like this here in Spain. Have a good week. Ani#4

I think you should go and see the exhibits this weekend rather than make "C" cards (only because I probably won't be starting any myself). Don't think mine are going to happen m this year.

Hi Helen, I keep doing a bit with the C cards but slowly, too many other distractions. Loving the tissue Masterboards and hope we get to see what you do with them. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x15x

I am loving your tissue paper backgrounds - there's nothing like being prepared and at least you've made a start. I hope you have a great time at the Imperial War Museum, I should imagine it will be quite an experience - I saw the wave of poppies displayed at Fort Nelson in Portsmouth in the summer (only a small part of the original installation in London) and it was very beautiful and quite moving too.
Have a great week,

Hi Helen, masterboards are fab, I keep meaning to do some. Can understand you smiling, I found it funny afterwards, just shocked at how poorly the staff appear to be trained on evac, that's even assuming they've had any training. Fortunately, I'm not as claustrophobic as I used to be, otherwise it would have been much more stressful. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX

Hope you have an amazing time at the museum, I've really been moved by the lit torches at the Tower of London. Great masterboards and why rush? Rome wasn't built in a day!! Lol xx

Tissue masterboards... sounds interesting. Are they fragile? Looks like you'll be well prepared to make Christmas cards! Loved your photos of the Kew. Have a great week!

Hi Helen, the masterboards look great. I am preparing for Christmas cards very slowly, masterboards may be the way forward for me. Thanks for stopping by earlier, I'm not really a sewer either, but I will be by Christmas! Have a lovely week Heather x #7

You are a lot further along than I. I haven't even started thinking about my Christmas tip-ins.

PLEASE go to the War Museum, if possible. I would LOVE to see it and the poppy display, too.

Nice motherboards, Helen. I'm sure we'll see them added to card blanks soon. Envy your visit to the IWM to see the poppies - it's just a bit too far for me. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #26

PS: tried to comment using my so-called 'smart phone' yesterday and it wouldn't let me!

Your tissue masterboards look fabulous - what pretty colours. The pictures I've seen of the burning torches at the Tower look just as amazing as the poppies did (which I did manage to see in real life)... I'm wondering whether I can manage to get there before the end of the week - not looking very likely now, sadly.

I've never seen tissue masterboards before, Helen, and yours are just gorgeous! I love what you've done. I expect you have to handle them very carefully and if you are using Distress Oxides and infusions that involve a lot of water they could well fall apart. Thank you for your visit, and so glad you like my peacock feathers. As for the knitting, once I get my teeth into something and it's taken a lot of work, if things go wrong I just can't leave it alone but have to persevere with it till I get it right, otherwise all the previous work would have been wasted lol! I think that's my twisted logic for being such a perfectionist but maybe that's just polite-speak for totally obsessed OCD neat freak lol! I always get a good sense of satisfaction when I've spent a long time getting something right. It does mean I don't produce very many projects in a year, though!

Thank you for your good wishes for my oncology appointment - it was fine, no evidence of any return of cancer. I wasn't worried really. We discussed the hernia and I saw my CT scan results which were interesting.

Happy belated WOYWW - sorry for delay - busy few days!
