WOYWW 387.. I've started; finally

..Christmas cards that is... kind of.    I decided on Sunday that with November rapidly approaching I had better get going...
First though, it's Wednesday, time for another desk hop with Julia at the Stamping Ground for WOYWW  -   no new toys this week.
But, as I was saying, I have finally started working on Christmas cards.. I got some masterboards started, which are always a fun thing to do, and a speedy way of getting several cards done (started anyway!) at once..
it''s only a little bit staged (I spread out the masterboards so you see a bit better) - I have used 12x12 sheets of tissue, so they remain light enough to stick to card blanks later on, and several colour combinations of Fresco paints, a red based one, a blue one and a greeny one.   Something else will happen to them soon!

The journal is my Wanderlust book that I have been using this year... way way behind on all the lessons but I loved last week's lesson from France Papillon so much I set too almost immediately.. Heavy white gesso and some texture stencilled on (no that you can make it out, as it is also white)  It's a pastel lesson so will be adding some layers of colours of pastels soon... (you get the idea, everything is happening "soon"!)

Not much else has happened to the soft cover journal either... although the pink page has gone through a bit of a change since you saw it last time; I didn't like what I'd done (or at least couldn't think what to do with what I'd done next) so painted over it... It also has some texture paste stencilled on, left over from the Wanderlust page!
That's it for me today, will be catching your desks later...  have a great week.

Morning Helen, love your master boards. I think they are a brilliant idea but I never seem able to get round to making them myself, too much like planning.
Bless you

lots going on there, I've only managed to download all the lessons, still need to watch more then half of them and only managed to finish a handful of projects, feeling very ashamed about this, that is also the reason why i won't be signing up for next year, first need to go through this year. Masterboards are so much fun to make - we used to call them "Serendipity pages"! Looking forward to seeing the cards you make from them! Your desk looks a great deal like mine - things stacked up here and there, and a very small workspace! I must get started on my Christmas cards as well - hopefully there will be some evidence of that next week! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #41

Those masterboards look interesting - I hope we get to see a close up of them. And the other things you've been working on. When they're done. Are you coming to crop at the end of November? Do bring them along!

Happy WOYWW to you!

Hi Hele, well I did have a good snoop round your floor by enlarging the photo and those masterboards look promising. I agree that they are fun to do. I don't know why I haven't spotted it before but you have what looks like an old sewing machine table in the table - I used to have one many years ago and miss it still. Thanks for the snoop :) Have a happy WOYWW. Elizabeth x #35

Hello Helen. Oh how I love the tissue paper you made for your cards, I haven't played with tissue paper in some time must remember I have it. So many goodies on your desk to play with always love seeing what you are making. I can not believe it is already November as I feel so far behind in my crafting not sure I will get much done this year as years before. Thanks for visiting me earlier and have a wonderful day. I'm loving your masterboards - it's not a way I've ever worked before, in fact I had never heard of them until Angela (Felix the crafty cat) showed them on her blog a while back - I guess if I'm going to try them then Christmas cards is the time to do it! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with yours. Hope you have a great week, and thanks for the visit earlier,

Happy WOYWW. I could say that I am getting inspired to start on my Xmas cards seriously, but that would be a lie! I am loving the mixed media project I have just started - so perhaps I should sketch some Xmas images and paint them? Now that is an idea. Ali x #11

Yummy yummy WIPs. I did all my cards in January. (Smug face). So unless I sell them all (not likely) I'm sorted. Which means I can play with ideas without pressure. 'Cos I do quite like Christmas actually. Sorry I'm so late, yes it was a bit hectic today but I did actually get quite a bit done. Nothing entirely finished, but they will be soon.......... Happy WOYWW Cindy xx

I considered using a masterboard for my Christmas cards, but I don't have enough stamps to justify making several. I look forward to seeing yours. The hard part is over, at least.

No new toys? No new toys?!? It's a Christmas miracle... and starting the Christmas cards too - what a week you're having!! Great looking masterboards and looking forward to seeing that France Papillon page. I'm glad to be home in time for that one (having not Wanderlusted since pretty much week three... eeek - that's a lot of downloading of classes I need to do, but I do have my flash drive ready to go).
