It's probably (definately) not journalling as such...

but it's inky stuff on a page in a book, lol!  After a couple of days, I got as far as taking the plastic wrap off the book...

And took some distress inks and stencils....
After another day I put some more colour on the page and another stencil... stuck a piece of torn book page..... and tonight I even inked up a stamp or two... (stamps are by Tim Holtz)
It's nothing to write home about for sure, and it's not on the first (or even second) page - so later on I won't see it as soon as I open the book - but I took the plunge. Now I need to work out what sort of thing I want to put in here - I certainly won't be doing a lot of writing (not neat enough, not one to bare my soul ) so it will probably be a kind of "mess about trying this and that rather than on a tag that I don't know what to do with afterwards - book"!
Now off to get my WOYWW post sorted... and Holby City's on in a minute so I need to get a cup of tea...
Thanks as always for looking, and encouraging me to do this next step in my "art".

Wow you have made the first step. Must admit I find journaling quite daunting and cannot write things down but I do give it a go now and then. Great idea to use the book instead of tags for a change. Tracy x

Oh I think it may well be worth writing home about...I am admiring your plunge into it and the fact that you're doing it in layers so as not to be scared. But I think it is now begging for words to be written on it..although I'm like you about what to write...how about some of the fab texts that you've bought on stamps...jsut for the hell of it!

I think its very brave Helen, and I love the way you have used the colours and layers......Julia is right though, needs some words, try cutting from magazines....instead of actually writing.............

I think it's great for a first page, Helen! We all need to start somewhere, you'll get the hang of it! Love the Tim stamps!

of course its proper journalling cos journalling is what you want it to be! I love the freedom of my book, cos its mine and needs no critique

Helen, you did it just I did when I started art journaling - somewhere in the middle of the book, and then bit by bit. I love your result here, it looks beautiful, great colors and the text in between. It's lovely!
