My nephew's bird-day

One of my nephews has a birthday on Tuesday and I realised I hadn't made his card yet, so after the lunchtime football match and during the afternoon ones, I have put that right! Yes, I'm happy it's footie season again!

I've used Paperartsy stamps, a tag and some Craftwork Cards paper from the (large) pile you saw on WOYWW!

Started with faded jeans and crushed olive on the tag, the bird is stamped on pearl metal and made into a tape sandwich and coloured with gel pens and some yellow distress stickles for his 'comb'.

I've used the same inks over the background paper (it was pale blue to start with) and added a maya road sheer clock and the birthday boy's name on the dymo label.  The ink on the back of the bird nearly dried by the time I got the damn backing paper off.......!!!!

You can kind of see the glitter on his comb better in this one.

Anyhow, this is going in the post tomorrow on my way to Stevenage for the Stamperama show. Oh, did I already mention I'm going stash buying tomorrow, cos I don't have much  a lot   enough.... See some of you there!!

Is it a bottle? No, it's a vase

I was making some ATC's tonight (I blame Hels', you've probably noticed she's on a bit of an ATC kick at the moment)

Anyhow, I was using the fab Paperartsy stamp from Hotpick 1006 when I had an idea.

I had the red tag inked and water-splashed from yesterday but unfinished. (Barn Door and Fired Brick inks)

I stamped the Paperartsy flower in fired brick on the tag and then used the bottle from Wendy V which I stamped on acetate - drying with the heat gun very gently, not knowing if it woud ruin the acetate (it's quite thick so I was ok) I cut it out, removing the lid - hey presto, a flower vase. (I'm sure it's been done before)

Finished the tag with the script stamp from the same Hotpick set and a self coloured flower held in place with a memo pin filled with (still drying...) glossy accents, and some foliage idea-ology/maya road trinkety bits.

Couldn't get a decent close up with the glare of the flash on the acetate and was standing at a funny angle to keep my shadow out of the way!  I may try tomorrow in daylight (although given the wet  forecast we may not get much daylight tomorrow!)

Anyhow, the evening is speeding by and I need a cup of tea, (the first one got cold...) so TTFN. My wish list for Stevenage is ever growing - have you seen Leandra's FAB new Hotpicks?????? OMG...

Stampotique - SDC13- Wings Wings Wings

The second Stampotique challenge of the month is a "free stamp" one and the new theme is Wings Wings Wings.

I have used some new - i.e never used, not new as in just bought - products - my Twinkling H2O's (I've had them 2 years and never even taken the lids off.... and two Stampscapes butterflies - had them at least one year).

I have had trouble photographing this card because of the use of the pink brilliance inkpad!

Stamped and cut out each butterfly and painted them with the Twinkling H2O's - having opened them, I will be using them lots, how fab are the colours - don't ask me why I have left it so long to try them...  Bent the wings and attached with 3d foam dots.

The base card is approx 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 and I used Paperartsy stamps on it. I tried to take some pics in close up to show it better but had to turn the flash off to avoid flare, so it's distorted the colours a little.

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday - week 62

Hi, all.  Wow, last week took some getting round - but lovely to see you all and thanks again for so many of you dropping by here too.

I'm not quite sure where this week has gone to (again!) I've been having fun with some challenges (see Monday and Tuesday posts) especially the great Linda E's new Simon Says Stamp and Show - do have a go if you haven't already! There is a great prize up for grabs.

Anyhow, this is my work desk as I was getting ready for bed Tuesday night and it won't be any different till I get home from work on Wednesday - a load of empty business card boxes I "rescued" from work - imagine, they were going in the bin!  I love these ones especially because they don't have holes in the bottom!  I tend to use these for things like buttons and washers and things, so they'll be really useful.

Also, "Eric" from my Tag Tuesday post is hanging around in my beautiful easel, although in the end I scanned him for the challenge picture!! (the light was too bad to get a close up)

I was recently sorting out a box of patterned papers that was getting very crowded and divided them into two (apart from the A4 and 12x12 papers which are in a box by the side of the sofa under a load of other stuff that is a pain to move each time I need a large sheet of paper - there has to be a better solution!)

These are all papers from Craftwork Cards and in front are some chip shapes (mostly Maya Road) and some double arches from Paperartsy that I am really looking forward to decorating.

Don't forget to stop by at Julia's to catch this blog-hopping extravaganza and follow the links round the world to see what everyone - it seems like - in the world - has been up to this week!

I'm going to Stevenage on Sunday for the Stamperama show - so there may be some new stash on view next week!!  (May be, she says.....!!!)  I love this show, because although it's small, it is always good - and I can get home in time for the Liverpool v Arsenal game at 4pm - yes, football season is here again - yippee......

Tag Tuesday - Crowns

Today's Tag Tuesday challenge theme is "crowns" although I nearly got it totally wrong because I mis-read it as clowns.  Louise tells me this is very unlikely to be a theme, ever!!

Anyhow, I found a grungeboard crown which I painted with inka gold in gold and a wet finger, but after my tag was coloured, decided the gold didn't look right and went over the top in inka gold, violet. Oh, I haven't inserted the picture! What a twit.

I used victorian velvet and bundled sage for the tag which I then put through the bigshot with Tim's texture fade.

I stamped "Eric" on white card and coloured with watercolour pencils before cutting him out and sticking him to the tag.  I added the Wendy text to another piece of white scrap and added the same ink colours as on the tag.  Finally, I crowned Eric!

I think this needs somethng else, but despite having a good rummage through lots of my drawers, I couldn't find anything that felt/looked "right" so this is it!!

Thanks for looking, make sure you check out the other Tag Tuesday entries, there are bound to be some crackers!

Simon Says Stamp and Show - week 1 - Wings

It's here  - Simon Says Stamp and Show - how exciting is this new blog?! The first challenge - and you've probably seen the amazing prize on offer! - is Things with Wings.  I decided to go for something completely different this time (to quote Monty Python ).

Although having said that I've used a tag as the base, coloured chipped sapphire.  I had a small wooden arch which I painted white and then inked with tumbled glass and crushed olive before stamping the toadstools (I think they're from Personal Impressions only there's no name on it) and coloured them with watercolour pencils.  I stamped the fairy (no idea, again no maker or code) in black archival on a piece of scrap and clear embossed it.   Cut her out, stuck her to the toadstool.

Stamped the Wendy text on a scrap of paper and inked a maya road oval frame (I used walnut stain ink then added inka gold, gold paint with a wet finger)  Stuck it all to the tag with matte medium.

I've been busy tonight - done my Compendium challenge piece too (scroll down - or blogger may decide up - to check it out).
Will try and check out what you've all been up to soon.

Compendium - 9 - Distress Crackle

This week - week 9 - how time flies - the Compendium Challange by Linda at Studio L3 is page 42, Distress Crackle.  That's all I can tell you about the challenge, as you need to have the book to see the technique.

I am continuing in my tag theme (like several others I intend to "do" something with them when we get to the end!)
I've used wild honey and rusty hinge inks on the tag, threw some drops of water on the tag as raindrops and brolly man on grungepaper for the "challenge" focus.

Few bits and pieces of idea-ology to finish.

Got to go and post my Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge piece too now - been a busy girl tonight!!
