WOYWW 842

We say it all the time, but wow, that week went fast... another Wednesday has rocked up and it's time for What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday again.. head to Sarah's for the link.

There's nothing currently on my desk (floor) but I did play in my smaller A5 size journal at the weekend

I tore off a strip of the Paperartsy script tissue and stuck pieces on the page  - having first used a couple of Fresco paints, in Haze (a pale greyish colour, (never opened the bottle before)  and the yellow is I think Kiwi Gold..

was looking for a delicate leafy stencil (need one of Alison Bomber's new ones that I resisted..... )  this is part of a Stencil Girl stencil.
I then added some of the poppies on the background and painted them with the red Mattint glaze,  and forgot to take a stage photo...

fussy cut the poppies and layered them over the page.

(yes, Cindy, more fussy cutting!)

Saturday at Kew was WET   but Kim and I still went!   Not going to let a little (lot of) rain stop me...

there were no white trousers this week!

got some good raindrop shots though!

Hoping for dry weather this weekend, it is meant to be...

I hope Sarah enjoys her first WOYWW not at school, I am rather jealous...

Happy WOYWW, see you soon!

WOYWW 841

Happy WOYWW lovelies.  Hope you are all well. Another Wednesday so head to Sarah's for the desky-share link

I decided to use the Dina Wakley kraft journal for an Alison Bomber themed page.

Starting with a layer of gesso leaving a bit of a border, then various green archival inks and of of Alison's new stencils
I stamped and fussy cut out several of the coneflowers from her new stamp set

coloured them with Prismacolour pencils

arranged them and added the text stamps from the same set

wow, a finished journal page!!

my Kew buddy Kim and I survived a hot morning at Kew on Saturday by finding as much shade as possible

the giant kardoons are - giant...
the lotus flowers in the Temperate House are a favourite at the moment

it wasn't a day for lying down for low level photography, in white trousers!

Thanks for dropping by, I will be round to check your desks soon

WOYWW 840

Welcome fellow deskers another Wednesday has rocked up - time to meet at Sarah's for WOYWW

I was watching the Paperartsy new releases launch on Facebook last week and ... of course - went shopping (I was restrained though, and only got Alison Bomber's new stamps and not the Christmas themed sets... was severely tempted so there is still time!)

there was also a new script bases set of printed tissue which I did go for!
I stamped out the new designs, loving the poppies and the coneflowers,
and did some colouring

the poppies were with the Dina scribble sticks (Jan, they are pigment sticks, so although they look crayon-like they are very blendable )

the coneflowers I used Prismacolour pencils

the thinnish card I used to stamp them on, doesn't take water very well so only blended the poppies, not the others.

Didn't have time or energy for anything else, I did managed to get out and replace my fan - I think I will be needing it in the days to come!

Kew was forecast to be wet but luckily, kindly, the rain held off till Kim and I left around mid-day!

these shaggy looking flowers are some of my Broad Walk favourites in the summer.

there were SO many bees last weekend

hopefully the weather will allow a decent visit before it gets too hot, and also me to do some crafting on Sunday!

Happy WOYWW and see you soon!

WOYWW 839

this will be short and sweet, it's sweltering here.. writing on Tuesday as I had to take the day off as there's some work going on with gas mains and they needed to change some pipes inside... luckily they didn't have to get in the loft like they thought.... that would have been dreadful in the heat. (they said the maisonette  they did yesterday was dreadful in the loft)

So it's time for another WOYWW with Sarah

part of the weekend wasn't quite so hot so I had a play in the ledger journal

using the new stamp set from last week
and added some stamps from older sets.

I had intended to do more today but it's just too hot.

plus, my fan broke last week and I haven't been able to replace it yet.....

Saturday at Kew was hot, but thankfully overcast so without blazing sun didn't feel too bad... mostly.
flowering cactus in the Princess of Wales conservatory

beautiful dahlia

thanks for looking,  catch you soon.

I am hoping by the time you read this, the worst of the heat is over (if the forecast is right) and I might not be quite so drippy!!

WOYWW 838

Happy WOYWW once more lovely deskers. Head to Sarah's for the link and all the details - come share your crafty spaces!

This week seems me hit qualifying for state pension... not sure how the hell that happened!  Unlike Sarah however I haven't decided to stop working (although it's tempting sometimes!) but tomorrow, 66 it is.

So, of course, I had to treat myself - luckily Dina brought out some new goodies last week!

they turned up on Tuesday (well, would have been Saturday but the office is closed so RM couldn't deliver, and the parcel turned up at work Monday shortly after I left for home...)

New colours of Scribble Sticks, new stamps and new clear gloss spray... can be used as gloss in the normal way, or a resist (have seen some great YT videos already)
Can't wait to play!

there wasn't a lot of crafting at the weekend, it was a bit hot (and my electric fan broke, the casing fell to pieces (I really shouldn't have stored it on a window sill in full sun - or the cold come to that!)

but, layers of colour in the ledger journal.

the white stencilling is paint - turns out my Dina white paint (original bottle) had set solid and it was like spreading chocolate spread... I had been having trouble squeezing it out of the bottle, and thinking it was nearly empty, cut the bottle open, to find a lump of paint! I found a little container to transfer it to as I don't intend to throw it away!

oops!

I had a very hot and short visit to Kew on Saturday -  gave up about 11.30, it was too hot to walk around any more.

Thanks for looking,  I'll pop round soon to check out your creativity!

WOYWW 837

Hello again lovely deskers. Welcome back for another WOYWW . Come join in at   Sarah's

I hope you all had a great week...

I made a couple of birthday cards

the background was made months ago, I have no idea what the sprays are - probably Tim Holtz distress
this was another piece, already had the texture paste stencilled on... just added some of the solid Dina stamps
then I started another journal page...

stencils are all Seth Apter for Stencil Girl...

Saturday was of course, Kew   the wildflower bed is beautiful

I think the Saturday coming will be trying to avoid the heat..

Thanks for dropping by, I'll be round to see what you've been up to.

WOYWW 836

Happy Wednesday - workdesk sharing again  - come join in at Sarah's

I promised you crafting

and did do some -

even if it was only finishing off a journal page from a couple of weeks ago!

I added some more layers of stencilling and stamping and coloured the collage tissue faces.

I' m still tired (never sleep well) and work is mad- busy but hey ho.  Thanks for your concern, it's nothing to worry about!

It was a solo visit to Kew on Saturday as my Kew buddy Kim decided the awful forecast was enough to deter her until Sunday. In the end, it didn't rain on Saturday

these purple poppies are stunning
and who doesn't love an ox eye daisy

I might be a bit late visiting this week, what with work being so busy  and it's the annual golf day Monica has started organising (I'm not playing obviously, but those of us left in the office might be busier than usual! )

Thanks for dropping by, happy WOYWW and see you soon!

WOYWW 835

Morning deskers.  happy June!    It's time for another WOYWW meet up at Sarah's

I don't have any crafting to share this week - of my own -   Sunday is normally the day I do any crafting but I was too tired

I do have more anniversary atcs though,  the one I forgot to photograph last week from Julia and my PIF partner, Cindy

thanks ladies.

Saturday turned out quite warm at Kew and the colours were fabulous
on the poppies,

and on Goldie, the golden pheasant who we saw for the first time in a while

although, truth be told he was looking a little less vibrant than normal - it's probably a seasonal thing!

the weekend coming is forecast wet so will be different again!

till next time, Happy WOYWW  and hopefully there'll be crafting to show!

WOYWW 834

I can't believe it is Wednesday again already or that I am back at work after my few days off - they go so fast! But, Wednesday it is and time for WOYWW with Sarah.

I had an anniversary atc from Julia (thank you! which I have forgotten to photograph...)

I've been busy playing in the ledger journal

this was based on a Dina supporter FB live

the background for once, is Tim Holtz sprays, everything else is Dina's, tags, collage tissue, transparencies and paints

this was trying to rescue the layer underneath which I didn't like... not totally sure about the current state this is in, other than the white gesso'd swirl over the green (Dina's gloss in Malachite and brushed out)  I do like how the white has picked up the colour.

and this one a bit of fun - not finished yet
blobs of various gloss colours, and the two pages squished together (butterfly prints as kids, anyone remember?!)

I had several trips to Kew last week as some of you saw on FB, (I've linked the first one of the extra trips)

poppies at Kew

and the ceramic poppies at  the Tower of London

I even got to see a titan arum almost opened at Kew !

thanks for looking - I can't quite believe it is nearly June... I mean, come on, where has the year gone?

Happy WOYWW!

WOYWW 833

Hello lovely deskers, welcome to another week's WOYWW .  It was good to celebrate our 16th anniversary last week. The link is over at Sarah's

I am sharing the atc from Mary Anne and the card from Jan that I received.

I am sorry I couldn't join the zoom get together-(although the code didn't come through)  as  I was quite late back from Kew) I hope you all had a good natter

I took a shot standing up of my workspace this time

before a close up of the journal spread I worked on at the weekend

Last week's trip to Kew was colourful

tulip tree flower

and the ox eye daisies are back in the rock garden

I have a few days off now so depending on Wednesday's weather I may be out when you visit.

WOYWW 832 - 16th anniversary

Happy WOYWW to you all and welcome to  the 16th anniversary!  Started all those years ago by Julia and now in the safe hands of Sarah.... where does time go!  We've definitely all been through good times and bad times but week after week we get together and feel better!  Lifelong friendships have been forged, we may come and go but we remain strong and together.

I did manage to make an atc to share here today but not multiples to post - though there will be one for a PIF partner

I used a bubbles stencil I've not used for -  well years! that is by Dutch Doobadoo.  The  frondy stamp is by Dina, the words are from a Seth Apter stencil for Stencil Girl and the paper dolls are Tim's

I also started another pair of journal pages

which you'll probably gather I forgot to photograph in daylight so it's a bit dark!

Of course, it was Kew on Saturday, and a beautiful day it was too
it is allium time- one of my all time favourites
and plenty of wisteria still too.

I'll be round to catch up as soon as I can  - and thanks to Mary Anne for the atc that came in the post, most unexpectedly. It is of course, beautiful!

WOYWW 831

Hello deskers, welcome to another week's WOYWW .    I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend (well in the UK anyhow)

I bought some new (ok, more, new)  goodies...

I even had a play with the new stencils too.

Saturday at Kew was the first early for the summer,  so headed out at 6... a bit earlier than needed but a girl has to be first in line...

this is the new interactive installation (you can stand on the mat in front of the artwork and wave your arms, making the blue swirly dots move in time to your movement - there are cameras mounted either side of the piece)

the first of the poppies are coming out.

I should have done with Kim did though, and go again on Monday (I was watching the VE Day parade on tv) because I wouldn't have missed ...

....this!

so annoyed with myself, as I was awake in  more than time to go to be there for 8 again.

when we were there on Saturday we didn't think it would open quite so soon!

ah well!

it will be collapsed by now, they only flower for 24 hours.

Till next time, happy WOYWW (still not made my ATC for the virtual swap, must do that this weekend!)
