WOYWW 433 - post show haul

My week off went in a flash of days out, lots of walking and photograph taking... and back to work now; starting to feel like I was never off!   if you want to see what I got up to there are 4 posts on my "photosbyh" blog - click the fountain picture which will take you to the final one, and work your way back (it may take a while!)

But it's time for WOYWW and our weekly desk share... Julia is in charge here

Saturday saw me at the Ally Pally show.. like so many of these things, it ain't what it used to be, as they say!  Write up here though if you're interested (although I know a lot of you saw it)

But I did manage to do a little shopping...
less than normal, but enough!

I did manage to make a couple of birthday cards last week, for my boss and another girl at work - both used one of the new Dina Wakley stamps I showed you last week

This one for my boss was using Fresco paint brayered over a piece of patterned paper and some texture paste mixed with Caribbean Sea Fresco to stencil the numbers
 Oxides on tissue paper

I decided at the weekend my brayers were disgustingly filthy - I managed to chip away at the paint and got one back to the red rubber, the other one is a bit more damaged and still has paint stuck fast... I'm just going to call it a texture brayer

So, that's me this week...
Hoping that getting these cards done will finally kick start me back to getting some more crafting done... I'll probably start a new journal to celebrate!!

Used to love ALly Pally miss all these outings now I live in Spain. Bet you found it very therapeutic peeling all that paint off your brayer. Have a good week. Anicko

Sounded like you had a great time at Ally Pally and a rather fab haul despite your insistence it was a smaller haul than normal!

Fab makes too

Sounds like you had a fun filled week Helen and love the new stash you bought. I love the idea of a textured roller esp one you've developed yourself over the years....so unique 😀

I used to love going to Ally Pally when I was into my paper craft.. Love your stash you got its making my fingers twitch to have a wee play...But my crafty space was not big enough for ink and fabric... so I had a wee change over to fabric which I love... but I will make my own Christmas cards this year as I have a ton of white card and some stamps I could not part with left....I looked at your photos wonderful as always.... Have a happy WOYWW...May #11

The Shows definitely aren't as good as they used to be - it's probably the Interwebs effect. Glad to see you bought a few things though! Great card for your boss, love the colours. Holidays always go too quickly - I followed your days out, looked like fun!

Lovely cards and I do like the Oxides on tissue paper - must try that (was the paper crumpled to begin with - thinking of tissue being a bit crumply at all times).
So is Ally Pally really a lot less than it used to be? I was thinking of trying to persuade my friend to go next year but if it has gone downhill I guess there is no need.
Love the brayers, I was looking for my tiny one last night - still looking!
Have a good week.
Hugs, & Thanks for the visit to mine - Neet 7 xx

Hi Helen, I must admit that I usually only go to one show a year (Port Sunlight in May) as I tend to do most of my shopping on the net. I wonder if the Tube attack had any effect on attendance? Love your cards; they are so different and I bet the recipients really appreciated them. Happy WOYWW Sarah #18

Hi Helen, it's a shame you and I don't live closer! There are only a couple of things there that either I already have or have ordered. Obviously we must have very similar tastes on the stash front. I will pop back later to look at your photos as I am being forced this morning to go walking with the girls. Thanks for the visit to mine and happy woyww, Angela x17x

Happy WOYWW. Loving those stencils in your crafty stash haul. I have just started a free art journaling course, which includes making your own stencils. Have ordered the plastic sheets required and will be continuing with the class when they arrive. It will be interesting to see if I can cope with the cutting with a craft knife (not usually my favourite tool). Your brayers remind me that I intended to order a larger one with the plastic sheets. Oh well, my little one will have to suffice until I do another order or our local craft shop get some more in stock. Ali x #19

:) Helen, what is stuck to the brayer? ( I have not had that problem for me its my stencils...)
Love the colors on the pieces you have shared.
and we have had Snow even on the 4th of July ( its rare) but, Crater Lake is a national park about 45 minutes north of my house but, I live at a high elevation 4500' so, it probably will not be a surprise to have snow in the valley in Oct.

Nice looking stash... If that's smaller than usual then I'm sure your bank balance is thanking you. That said,i do love the items you bought. The cards you made for work are also lovely. Have a wonderful week, Heather #32

Hi Helen, it may be less than normal but it's still an impressive haul. The style of the stamps are so you, as are the cards you've made. Love the inky, painty backgrounds. I think you are going to get many very distinctive backgrounds from your 'new' texture brayer. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #34

I'm late getting around this week. I love the stash, but agree, while it never seems to lessen my haul, our local stamp show is only 1/3rd of what it used to be! (and yet I still never get to visit every booth!!?)
I'll have to try the oxides on tissue; looks great, as does the other card.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

I'm soooo late getting round a few desks this week. Ben was three yesterday so I have a good excuse! Great cards Helen and I chuckled at your hand crafted original textured brayer - brilliant! xx Jo

You picked up some nice goodies this week and those cards are awesome! I always have a hard time making masculine cards so it's nice to peek at what others do. Thanks for your earlier visit. I'm getting a late start. LOL. Dorlene #26

Those Dina stamps are so cool - two fab cards, and good work on the brayers. Nothing wrong with having a texture brayer, after all...

Sorry I'm so late... but here I am to take a peek at your desk. Seeing your brayers made me smile... I took mine to the sink some days ago to clean them and they ended up the same... ha! And did you start a new journal yet? Hug from Holland, Marit #20
