WOYWW 400

Quite a milestone in the life of What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday...  week 400... that's a lot of desks! So, Julia, much loved Head Desker - we salute and thank you for having the patience to keep going this long!  We have made lifelong friends because of you, given and received support in good times and bad, and - just possibly - enabled one or two deskers to buy more stuff!!  (I hold my hands up!)

I had a fantastic time at the Powertex workshop last weekend (full report and LOTS of pictures in this post here )   these are the pieces laid out drying on Sunday after I added some "finishing" touches (there may be more of those to come yet!)

This (Tuesday) evening I have been making a birthday card for a friend which needs to get in the post to arrive for the weekend...

my journal underneath has some stencil work (texture paste) over a Bistre background (I used some to add some colour to the edges of the plaques from the workshop)

(Bistres are like brushos or infusions)

In case you don't have time to read the whole post on the workshop, this is the finished project (unless I add more colour, there is some debate as to whether I added too much white paint dry brushing and it needs to be darker and more grungy!)
So, happy 400th WOYWW and have fun desk hopping again today!

Happy 400th edition, Helen. Have just spent ages reading about your workshop... the finished pieces are fabulous. I love the colours - they remind me of a sea with bits in the water, just floating on the tide. I've no idea what they remind others of... probably something far more sensible - but there you go. It's fabulous! Hope you find somewhere great to hang the piece.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Helen. Happy 400th WOYWW Love the creations and like Margaret they remind me of the sea, her description far more poetic than mine, like the card as well. Do I spy use of a SU folder in your book pages - if not it is very similar. have a great day. Anne x #12

I did read your detailed post, sorry not to comment, love the depth of texture and the colours of the powertex sample. and the journal pages - I can't wait to see them progress. All my brushos are in a box somewhere...its packed with the rest of our stuff from the uK - so hard to find things these days and I miss them hugely - I will do a forage... They are the most intensely pigmented colour dyes I have...dxxx#20

Loving your panels... I think they are perfect as they are! You could always do another set more dark and grungy if you like.

Hi Helen, I popped over for a look at your day out. I so love Powertex and haven't been to a workshop for a while. I bought some wooden panels from Hobbycraft ages ago and forgot all about them till I saw your workshop, will have to get them out when the weathers better. I like to do my Powertex stuff in the greenhouse as it's nice and warm in there and helps it to set quickly. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela X 23

Love your project just the way it is. Not too much white. I wanted to thank you for visiting my Blog earlier and to tell you that when I scrap my photos from the 80s, they are in envelopes with dates, events and other details. So, It isn't like I have to remember a lot. But you would be surprised how much I do remember. Better than trying to remember what I had for dinner yesterday! LOL #43

Hi Helen,
Ah, great work that powertex I just read the post, amazing what you can do with fence posts, after reading the post and seeing them before dry brushing I think they look great.
I would wait for sunshiny day to get right light before jumping in with more colour, am impressed you bought them safely home on the train to dry properly. That's dedication.
I'm waaay behind on my comment...why ...???? cos I spend too long on each one, hopeless eh?
Thanks for sharing your inspiration, happy WOYWW 400!

Hello Helen,

Your project from the class looks great. If you feel you need to darken it then go for it!

I agree with you. Through WOYWW I've met many people and have had a great time participating, although the last year has been very few and far between.

I can't wait to get my craft room "up and running." I might actually have a desk to show next week.

Thank you for visiting me already!

Hugs,

Good morning, Helen. Apologies for my tardiness. Deadlines kept me at bay until today. Lovely piece. I'm going to read about the workshop. Looks like something I would have loved to have participated in. Just not enough arts folks in my area LOL. you might think the piece grungy enough but I see vintage beauty. Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #48
