WOYWW 396 - Happy New Year!

So, Happy New Year, we made it!  All that hard work, shopping and baking (well some of you anyway!) and feasting....Time for the first desk hop of the year... Link up at Julia's as usual...

I forgot to share this pic last week of the last goodies I bought from the Country View Craft advent sale

another couple of dies and a stamp (Seth Apter

there isn't very much on my desk - Tuesday was my first day back at work, and I really didn't make the most of my time off, doing very little crafting - I did get a journal page finished  (see the post before this one) - although I did get ahead with my January birthday cards but I can't share them yet!

I did start another journal page..  a mix of frescos, infusions and gesso, some colourburst sprays, and there we stopped....

just in the corner of the picture is a book I purchased from Julie Kirk (notesonpaper) I love her blog, and her style of writing...I am sure some of you know her too.  I loved the way it was wrapped up with paper (book pages of course) which of course I have saved!

It's available from her Etsy shop - snipped tales is a great title for the contents.

needless to say I didn't get any clearing up started either...

so,that's me for the first week of January...
Looking forward to catching up with you all soon.
I'd better go and take the decorations and cards down....

Exciting new stash and projects, Helen! Hope you get plenty of time to do both! Thank you for your visit and your nice comment about my last year's projects. I've now finished the mini-album. I am hoping for plenty of creative time in the coming year but there's always a lot of other stuff going on and with limited energy it can all get a bit frustrating when art gets pushed to the bottom of the heap!! Must try and protect it better and put other stuff there instead lol! Thank you for your good wishes for the coming year health-wise too. I fully intend to stay well this year - as far as it is in my power to do so!

Happy New Year and happy WOYWW,
Shoshi (no number yet)

Happy New Year to you! I love the start of that journal page and the book sounds and looks very interesting. It really sucks to have to go to work, but i suppose we should be grateful we are still able to work.
Happy WOYWW!

I had to laugh when I read your post. Your comment about my computer (which incidentally is now gone because of a possible defective video card) and how you didn't understand a thing, reminded me of your post. My eyes sort of glaze over when you start talking about all those products I know nothing about, and couldn't afford anyway. I'm a make do with what I have kind of gal. Like I've said before, I would give anything to spend a single day at your place, even sitting on the floor with you. No number, not playing, just visiting.

You did better than me with crafting over Christmas....I did none apart from a little knitting. I'm back open for business this morning for the first time so let's hope the customers come flooding in eh?
Happy New Year with lots of fun and friendship.

I'm liking your first week of January look! Christmas is such a good opportunity to kick back and chill, especially for you full time workers, I'm not surprised that you didn't turn your hand to much. Not sure you were meant to really! I'm only familiar with Julie Kirk by name, I must make an effort to go investigate her blog. Standby for loosing some more hours..!

Hi Helen, I did buy some stuff from CV Crafts, I love that Advent sale she has. Journals looking good, and I love how that book is tied up. Not surprised you saved the covers! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #3 xxx

Happy New Year, Helen. That all looks good and exciting there on your floor. Tidying and sorting?? A bit over-rated, I reckon!
Take care. God bless.

Ah yes, I "know" Julie. In the sense of being part of the same blogging community when I started out. She used to blog about scrapbooking/papercrafting way back when. Enjoy the book, and the rest of your week, Helen.

Hi Helen, hope you've had a good day. I've been trying to catch up with some projects this afternoon but thought I should stop and do some visits. I know I've said it before but I really must get back to some journaling. Have a great woyww or evening at least, Angela x 18

I find the Christmas break is a good time to take a crafting break - er well apart from a nice bit of cosy fireside knitting of course. Now I am raring to go! I think I will be making a little cot quilt for my friends little girl so that will keep me out of mischief. All the best to you for 2017 - I hope it's a really good year for you.

Lol, you sound just like me - I don't know where the time went between Christmas and New Year. We didn't sit around much but I can't tell you what we did exactly! Loving the journal pages, great colours :-)

Hello! Love that wild background - looking forward to seeing where it heads next...

In answer to your question over at mine - no, not my choice entirely. Each of the four Creative Guides who've signed up to the month have to nominate one of the four travel bag ingredients, so mine for this month was the product - the crackle - but I had no control over the others. It just came together for me this month. (Watch out for February!)
