Seth style journal pages

Been playing in my journal (A5,soft cover) since the class with Seth Apter on Saturday ( have I told you, yet, how much I LOVED it?!! lol)

 so as with all things in my journal, this started with the mop up from a birthday card I made earlier this week
Frescos in some bright translucents (I was colouring the new Tracy Scott stamps) - not sure exactly what colours I used now

 started with the stencilling, and decided to add some paint to the opposite side too, in a different colourway.

used the mask/stencils I got on Saturday - on the left, I used a mash up of 'now is the time' and 'you got this' as I didn't want the same thing on both sides,
i used Little Black Dress to stencil with here, for some impact

 nice, but time for the pen work!


















I nearly took the journal and my pens to work on Thursday but resisted (I'd have got carried away and been too long at lunch!)
Instead, carried on after dinner at home, the nice thing about this stage is I can do it on my lap on the sofa, not sitting on the floor like normal!

 lots of pen work... the white is my white sharpie, and the gelly roll white , the black is mainly a micron pen

love how this turned out - and loved putting into practice some of the things Seth taught us.

Paperartsy - Topic 11 - Our House

The Paperartsy topic announced on Sunday, is "our house" - Darcy found some fantastic samples of houses incorporated into art... I was taken by Kate Crane's journal page, and Karla's page full of houses on Sunday, and also Lucy Edmondson's inspiration from Madness "Our House" (in the middle of our street)

 This is a page in my A4 Seawhite journal.  I used heavy gesso as a base on the page, then scribbled the Crayola Twistables - yellow, orange, pale blue and red, mixing and blending before the gesso was fully dry to ease the blending.  Forgot to take a photo of this stage...

I stamped and masked the houses (Paperbag Studio) multiple times over the page, nearly filling it.

I stamped the plain house on a book page painted with diluted Fresco paints, and glued them over the background.

To allow the houses to pop more from the journal page I smudged the black Twistable with a damp brush, to create a background

Borrowing from last fortnight's challenge, I took a black micron pen and scribbled round the outline of the houses, and underneath with a soft pencil, smudging the lines, and then scribbled again with the micron pen, and finally a white sharpie.

stamped the words from ELB13 (Paperartsy) on white and mounted on black card, before adding to the journal page.

Paperartsy Challenge - Scribbles and Doodles

the latest challenge from Paperartsy is "scribbles and doodles"  I think most of us doodle unconsciously (those endless "hold" calls on the phone..) and there were some fabulous inspirations on the Paperartsy blog   I loved Penny's sewing machine doodles of Kim's stamps - fantastic!

But, I am no seamstress... I do love to play in my journal though and went back to the big A4 Seawhite journal...

 I started by stencilling this big alphabet which just fits the page (it's by Creative Expressions) and Fresco Caribbean Sea -such a beautiful colour!

I outlined the letters with a fine Micron pen (I only have 2, so it's either 01 or 04)

time for doodling. wasn't sure whether to doodle inside the letters or in the spaces...









but there's much more space in the spaces so that was my decision.  I went with flowers.. not very happy with how the daisy type came out today, so I mixed them with some scribbly dandelion types based on some of Lin Brown's flower stamps for Paperartsy   I mostly used the 01 Micron pen for all the flowers

I filled all the spaces and the tiny gaps with brick style patterns, and went round the edges just dotting with my pen.

Welcome to another WOYWW .. don't they come round fast?!
I seem to be going through a phase of lack of crafting energy lately, despite the Crazy Bird dies... it took me 3 days to get round to cutting them...
some of you saw the journal page that resulted but in case not ...

I've recently taken part in a "tissue swap" where a group of us decorated a sheet of tissue and swapped them.

these are mine, now I just need to think of something clever to do with them!!


got some new pens too, Fude Ball pens, we used them at the James Sharp weekend I went on recently and tracked some down (good old Amazon!) they arrived last week but I forgot to tell you... they write really well, if you're interested!!

Anyone off to the Stamperama show in Stevenage on Sunday?  I'm really looking forward to it..
no doubt there'll be shopping to share next week.. if not sooner!
