WOYWW 880

Happy Wednesday, deskers. It really doesn't feel five minutes since I was writing last week's post.. Head to Sarah's to find the linky tool and share your crafty doings!

I didn't do much crafting  at the weekend - I was glued to the golf from early afternoon to midnight...

I did start a double page in the Dina ledger journal, with my current favourite stencil in a couple of colours and then used some Paperartsy tissue carefully torn as a background layer.  This is the original tissue they produced as wrapping orders before launching sold versions!

I was on my own at Kew last weekend as Kim was under the weather, and spent my morning seeking out Henry Moore sculptures that are popping up in time for the big exhibition that runs from 9 May to next year some time.

this one was actually at Kew last time they featured Henry Moore - back in 2008 I found when I checked - then it was in front of the Palm House
it was damp to start with but did stop, though it wasn't very warm

I think this weekend is due to be drizzly again!

and then after that it is back to the members 8am early entrance from 1 May - hurrah!!

thanks for looking, I will come round soon; hope the kettle is on!

WOYWW 879

Happy WOYWW fellow deskers, I hope you all had a happy Easter and enjoyed some good weather. Head to Sarah's for the link and share what you've been up to.

I used some of the new stamps in a journal page - filling the background with various of the text stamps and then stamping some of the other images separately and adding them.
I wanted to have a play with part of the map tissue, it proved a bit tricky to glue down (because I won't use a paintbrush with glue but a silicone brush which was a bit brutal for some of the tissue so i got a few holes.

I painted it with a mixture of watered down translucent paint (Paperartsy) and Mattints (glazes from Paperartsy)  which once dry looked better than wet..

I had 2 trips to Kew, the normal Saturday one when it was grey and cool, and Monday when it was beautifully sunny!  what a difference!  Enjoy the pics if you have time.

Back to work now, so I'll catch you when I can

WOYWW 878

Welcome to another WOYWW and happy April fool's day. I hope you don't get tricked into anything nasty today!    As ever Sarah will have the link for you.

I have new goodies today  Paperartsy release time last week!

stamps, a stencil and some tissue

I opened the tissue so you could see the whole thing - it's a map of Paris from 1615 and is gorgeous. You should have seen the way Leandra used it in a journal page - when you add colour the features really pop.

I did get as far as stamping out the images too

but no time to play

I've got the new Versafine Clair inks on order now - I only say they were being launched at the end of the week and had to have them... hoping they come before Easter.

Kew was of course lovely on Saturday although cold.

so much blossom
and wonderful blue skies.

thanks for looking,  I will be round soon to check your crafty goings on.

Sending love to Neet for continued recovery.

WOYWW 877

And whizz.. it's Wednesday again,  WOYWW day. Head to Sarah's for the link and share your crafty space.

I added some more faces (transparencies) to this journal page and used a sheet from what I think is the very first collage tissue pack from Dina,  and cut out the words individually - mainly because I didn't want to keep it in one big piece and hide all the faces!

I used some more transparency faces on the facing page,  but haven't added anything more to this page yet.
then I took to my smaller watercolour journal and some distress oxide inks, and the edge of a credit card to make some marks,
then added some Seth mini stamps

Yet to decide on a focal point (possibly too much background stamping in the darker ink) so may add some more colour to knock them back before adding a focal point)

the bloody boiler conked out again overnight Friday so I had to arrange for B Gas to come back and re-light the pilot light on Monday.

for now it's stayed lit (I still think it was the workers in the street who must have turned the gas off again to me when they fixed downstairs...but can't prove it)

I have bitten the bullet and booked a call for a quote for a new boiler...

I did manage to enjoy Kew on Saturday - the weather was gorgeous

sunny daffodils
silky Pasqueflowers
cherry (or plum) blossom

Can't quite believe this is the last Wednesday in March - next week is April...

thanks for dropping by, I will be round soon. Happy WOYWW

WOYWW 876

Hi deskers,  Wednesday rolled round fast again and it's time for WOYWW  at Sarah's

I had to take Tuesday off work as the gas mains in the street are being replaced and they needed to get inside to move the gas meter and join up the new pipes... then they couldn't get the boiler re-lit so I've had to call British Gas to do it (and booked the service )  so I'm hanging around this morning too... I may already be gone by the time you visit (hopefully!)

I added some more to last week's journal page (again, something Dina did in her supporter live )

then I played about with paint on another page.  the circles are a gorgeous sort of jade green called malachite, not as blue as the picture makes them look
this was one I did at the weekend, brayered paint on the background and Alison Bomber stamps.

Kew was sunshine-filled blossom gorgeousness on Saturday

the forecast this weekend is currently also looking good!

Thanks for visiting, see you soon!

Wishing Neet continued recovery .

WOYWW 875

I can't believe it's Wednesday again and time for WOYWW already. Hope you've all had a good week. Head to Sarah's to find out what it's all about.   I do hope Neet is recovering.

I made some more of the cards I shared last week, in the yellow/purple combo which was my favourite.

I didn't bother photographing them as they are the same as the last batch.

then I took to a journal.  the birds for hair were inspired by a Dina supporters live,  she draws her faces free-hand but I used one of her stencils.

I'll add to it at some stage

Kew last Saturday was the final week of the 2026 orchid display

but there was lots of other colour too

magnolias
tulips
and I gave the stone lion a wig!

thanks for looking, see you soon.

WOYWW 874

Happy WOYWW all... time to share our crafty spaces with Sarah

I spent some time on Sunday - my crafting time - making some cards using the new Alison Bomber stamps I showed last week.  I had fun!

they'll probably birthday cards  - this one definitely
two other colour variations
and another of the stamps on a journal page - typically, so far unfinished

I really do like that stencil in the background though as you can see!

Saturday saw Kew, of course, and what is getting to be a colour-filled garden again
there is one more weekend of the orchids to come
the magnolias are coming out and we even saw some sunshine!

the main area where the magnolias grow at Kew is low-lying and it has been as you know, very wet... it could have been much more squishy than it was, but it was soggy underfoot!

spent some time at the lake and the colours on this mallard's head were just stunning!
what a handsome chap!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you soon.

WOYWW 873

Welcome back to another WOYWW  at Sarah's CraftShed  - and February is just about over.

At least round here there've been a couple of dry days - hoping for another one on Saturday.

I have just opened some new goodies - a couple of stamp sets from Paperartsy by Alison Bomber. So far, i have still resisted last month's Seth's new stamps..

it was the berries wot did it for me!  that and Alison's amazing samples on the FB live launch.

a couple of journal pages from weekend, this is in the Dina watercolour journal but is just with stamps
and this is the finished page from last week, added some more collage (the third face at the top) and stamped a load of tulips over another layer of that lovely new stencil I used last week.

If you read my Kew post from Saturday you'll know it was a nightmare journey thanks to signal problems on the trains, ending up being a 3 hour journey door to door...

but there were lots of signs of Spring when i did get there... the daffodils are gorgeous

and loads of hellebores too.

If i don't get to pop by before work, it may be a bit later for my visit, as there is a meeting at work in the afternoon and it may end up an evening out (although I am planning to come home after the meeting)

Thanks for popping by and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 872

I hope you are all well and Neet especially is recovering.  I have seen you lurking on FB so hope you'll be back on the link up soon.  Head to Sarah's to join in

I pulled out some Distress Oxide sprays for a change, and some Distress stains for some splatter.

I used some of the older Dina collage tissue pieces

and the new stencil from a few weeks ago, that I've not used before -  liking it a lot!

didn't get time to finish the page - was looking for a script stamp to add to the page and got distracted by

sorting out my Paperartsy mini stamps - previously muddled in 3 smaller boxes with some other loose stamps.

they look much better now, and are in order by designer and numerical.

because it's a bigger box it only just fits in the space they used to occupy!

Saturday saw a return visit to the Orchids at Kew, having booked time slot for each of the Saturdays it is running.  A beautifully sunny, crisp winter day made for much better photos!

the Hive looked amazing with such blue skies.

Thanks for dropping by, I'll be round soon.
Happy WOYWW

WOYWW 871

Hello deskers.  I will try and link correctly this week -  I am not sure what happened.  Anyhow, welcome to what will undoubtedly be  another wet and windy day on the desks... I don't know about you but I have had just about enough wet now!!   Head to Sarah's for the link up...

Anyway, let#s get to the floor.

i spent a few hours on Sunday stamping and colouring

I used my Prismacolour Premier pencils.  I wish I had more colours - when I bought them I got a set of 48 (I think in total there are about 150)  because at the time I couldn't afford the full set but I do regret it now... I can't find anywhere who sells different colours in different sets.  so it's either put up with "just" 48 or bite the bullet and buy the full lot and have duplicates....

and then fussy cutting, a load of cosmos from Alison Bomber's set released a few months ago.

I couldn't believe how long it took to do them all!

my sister in law and niece have birthdays next week within a day of each other, so I had some cards to make....
very simple but they'll do... the bird in it's nest is for my paramedic niece, and the flowers for my sister in law.

and there are plenty of flowers left for more cards in the future.

the blue egg shaped thing next to them is my kitchen timer for Sunday's dinner...
you may have seen from my FB posts on Saturday that the annual Orchid festival started at Kew - its been going 30 years unbelievably!
they have an incredible team of people who put hours in making the displays

the pandas (this year's featured nation is China)  were adorable

and there was lots of colour from the orchids.

I'll be back again this week with another look

Till then, happy WOYWW !

WOYWW 870

We find ourselves at week 870 of WOYWW - wow!  head to Sarah's for the linky... and show what you've got on your desk this week...

It's been a much quieter crafting week... it was too good to last!

I  was rummaging through the Dina Ledger journal for a part done page...
I then proceeded to make a right mess.. I started by stamping the face and the birds directly onto the page but they didn't show up.  I then stamped them on some collage tissue... still didn't look right... so take 3,  stamped them again on white card stock and fussy cut... managed to stick them over the layer underneath reasonably accurately each time though!

much better.
Used a couple of Tim Holtz quote chips and took the backing off (they are thick) so they wouldn't distort the journal page

there is some white splatter on the page too, you may have to click on the picture to see it

the first goslings of the year at Kew (Egyptian geese)  there were 6 but they spread out in the mud!
witch hazel in the sun
iris and winter aconite

don't think this Saturday will be sunny (but the forecast last week wasn't either)
it is however the first week of the glorious annual Orchid Festival so really looking forward to that.

Till then, happy WOYWW see you soon

I hope Neet you are continuing to recover.
