Some Finished WIPS...

so, following on from my WOYWW post, a couple of the pieces are now finished.  (well the arch canvas was finished already but I am sharing some details of how it was done)

Sadly I only took one photo of the beginning stages , and had already added the black modelling paste through the stencil by then.

the canvas is about 9 1/2 by 11/12 inches and is one of those flat canvas boards (from The Works)

I had added various brown Fresco chalk paints - all kinds of colours, to get some shading  I can't remember what colours though now...

 once the stencilled windows were in place and thoroughly dry, I added some die-cut bats on black card


I took a Paperartsy stencil for some grassy effects at the bottom. I wanted more texture, so mixed a couple of green Frescos (Wintergreen and something else!) with some matt 3d gel

 I used a heavy gel glue to fix the bats and left the wings of the larger ones proud of the canvas for more dimension - though you can't really tell from the angle of the photos, sorry!

at the top, I mixed some art stones into some 3d gel coloured with French Roast fresco paint



Now need to find something to fix it to hang up somewhere...












the other project I finished, is the big A4 journal page.

 I don't have any pictures (other than the one I shared on Wednesday) of the starting point of this page...



Lots of blue Frescos, stamps (Seth Apter circle-y ones) texture stencilling (originally with heavy gesso, top right, middle left and bottom right) under the Frescos  In some of the stencilled circles I have stamped some Prima circle-y stamps and some more stencilled dots


I stamped the Prima girl on some tissue paper and coloured her from behind with Frescos and some butterflies, (also Prima) on white card stock and fussy cut them and painted them

 added some splatters in black and white

the sentiments are from Prima too.

 I used slightly brighter, translucent shades for the butterflies (Southern Skies and Glass Blue)

I also added some more stencilled circles in a couple of places, using Finnabair's Light Paste, which picks up the colours underneath so it blends in again.

Dragons Dream -Tag It On

Welcome to another challenge from the Dragons Dream team - this time, my talented teamie Elizabeth has chosen Eight.  Just use eight, the number, or eight of something, on your tag, and don't forget to use at least one real stamp.

I decided to use 8 flowers on my tag (which is a size ten, sorry!)

 I started by dropping a little Sage Fresco on the tag, and brushed it over the tag, leaving a few gaps and wiping some away with a baby wipe.

I added Butternut to fill the gaps and overlap a little.

Then took the criss-cross stamp from JoFY36 and stamped it in the leftover Butternut, and inked part of one of the large collage script backgrounds from HP1501  (hmmm no pic of this stage!) in olive Memento ink

my flowers are by Prima and are all orangey-pale green
I die cut one of the Tim thinlet dies from a piece of spare Paperartsy paper for the bottom corner, and laid out my flowers

 the central text is from HP1507 and is stamped on a piece of spare tag from something else, coloured with the same paints as the background, as is the 8, from HXT06





a few more 8's in the olive green I used for the script background to fill some gaps on the tag

some green ribbon from my stash finishes it off.

Finished canvas from the Lin Brown Weekend - Live life be happy!

I was determined to put the finishing touches to the canvas before too much time went by...

 so, as I showed in the post about the weekend, it started as a canvas which we covered with patterned papers.

I don't have many pictures of the metal work in progress, as I was having too much fun

 but this is probably my favourite, the stamp by Donna Downey.

I used Stazon to stamp it onto the metal, then outlined over the stamped lines with a teflon tool, on a foam block, to create the outlines

 used the brass brush on the background of the metal piece, and a dotty wheel on the reverse of the leaves, on the acrylic block, to add some texture to the petals.

so this was as far as I got at Lin's - the metal pieces stuck  down.  It's not quite as dark as it looks in this picture, as you will see...

 I constructed the metal flower (using Lin's technique ) - nowhere near as good as Lin does them...
I used DecoArt Turquoise shimmer for the bottom and top layers of the flower, and left the middle petals plain silver

Drew a large L and a large ball and cup to create the look of the rivets.  Filled the space round it with a mold. The rest of the word live, are some die cut letters stuck to the background and covered with self adhesive metal.

 A selection of paper flowers (mostly Prima) and some metal embellishments, I added some Treasure Gold in Silver and Sapphire to the plain white flowers and to the metal leaf

and some more flowers at the bottom of the canvas (much tweeting and discussions this morning of the placements of these!)








And here it is,. hanging on the wall in my hallway.

Journal play - out of my comfort zone

I seem to have made this journal page in very neutral 'Jo Myhill'  colours, quite unlike me - it just developed!!

I started by using various light shades of Fresco - Hint of Mint, Concrete, something creamy, Vanilla maybe... I knew I should have made a note...

I used a piece of paper from the Prima Seashore pad, cut into pieces as shown, and cut a piece of hessian into pieces too (bought this way back at the Craft Barn in June with Lin, and only just used any of it!!)

Anyhow, I layered them up and stuck them down with matte medium.

 Added some grunge paste through a stencil and some Glass Beads texture gel , left it to dry overnight when it changed from clear...

 to this funny  brown where it overlapped the paper... hmmm not very fond of that!

so I decided to hide it - had some leftover die cut leaves from the same Seashore pad, in a blue/cream check pattern, stamped the Memory Box drift flowers on the papers using Potting Soil and orange Blossom archival, and dry brushed the grunge paste with hint of mint (over the background) and mushroom (over the paper) to lessen the white

found another little square of the check patterned paper, and stamped a drift flower on it, edged the border with walnut stain distress ink' and filled the space in the middle of the page.

Used one of the sentiments from Sara Nauman's ESN09 on some white Smoothy card, and edged it with Broken China and Walnut Stain distress ink..

Quite like this page, it's very restful, I can see why Jo likes neutrals so much!!
