Hi, deskers, hope you're well... I am still enjoying an Olympics fest (lots of late nights and more catch ups on recorded highlights!) - go TeamGB!
Anyhow, you're here for a desk... probably expecting new toys.. but they're in the post (again!) so you'll have to wait (and it's the stamp show at Stevenage on Sunday so there'll be LOTS without what's due today or Thursday! I'm meeting up with several crafty friends so apart from spending lots will be having a great time too
I'm not sure if I mentioned I was going to a wedding on Saturday (photos here if you like weddings!) It was the middle of my late sister's sons, so a bitter-sweet day but on the whole, very happy, and as my write up of the day says, everyone loves a wedding!
so on Sunday morning my floor space looked like this, with bits and pieces from the wedding - invitation, menu, a lottery scratch card (one for every guest, sadly no-one on my table won) and a "photo booth" photo of me with my brother and his wife... that was fun! the fork... well the evening food was fish and chips in paper cones and bacon rolls (instead of the more traditional buffet) and the little silver (plastic) fork was too good to leave behind.. well let's face it, we all would, wouldn't we!!
but I have since cleared that away (will be scrapping it when some of the photos I've ordered arrived - yes I have actually got some printed!!)
and been working on a journal page with the new JoFY stamps that you saw last week..
the ones I am waiting for this week, are by Seth Apter, who's designed some for Paperartsy.. there are new paints being made too but they're not quite ready yet.
Check out the Paperartsy post from Saturday here if you missed it... can't wait to get hold of them! (and yes, I am going on the Seth Apter class that Paperartsy are organising.. there were still some places left last I heard (details in the same blog post)
So, that's me, another week, another splurge... hey ho, what can I say?! Check into Julia's for the link to the desk hops here
The increasingly inky and painty ramblings of a stampaholic, whilst kneeling on the floor. Yes, my knees do protest!

JoFY patterns
So currently Paperartsy's topic/challenge theme is "patterns" I love to make patterns with stamps and this time used my new JoFY large flower stamps from JoFY45 which are just gorgeous.
As usual there have been some fabulous posts featuring great use of patterns - check them out.
This is what I did.
I used Sky and Ice Blue for the background, and then stamped the larger flower repeatedly over the page. For the purples I used (searches brain as I did this days ago...) Pansy, with touches of Plum and Wisteria. white Sharpie highlights, and Eggplant and Plum on the edges of the flower petals.
I filled in the spaces with the little flower seeds (?) and mixed Plum with Satin Glaze to colour them
Life IS good - live it!!

as a bonus, you get to see the little journal page I did with Dolly and Little Dude the new minis from JoFY... such cute little fellas!
I made the background with the numbers mini from Jo, and used archival inks in Vivid Chartreuse and Shadow Grey, a wash of limelight and concrete, then stamped the letters mini in Leaf Green and Watering Can archival (ie. slightly darker shades) and then a watered down wash of Limelight again I think..
Stamped the flowers from JoFY46 and the charachters on scrap paper and coloured with pitt pens.

WOYWW 375 from one extreme to the other..
well what can I say?? Wednesday again (already) time to link with Julia at the Stamping Ground
.. but lots more to show today! (Paperartsy keep releasing new stuff!)
so this was what I was waiting for last week!
have even had a play with some of the stamps - finished the journal page from last week (didn't paint over it!
some of you saw it when I linked it for the Paperartsy challenge.
I didn't go outside the front door at the weekend, no trip to Kew this week, just binge-Olympics... but did do a bit of clearing/moving/cleaning ( yes, I know...)
Opened the big storage boxes I got from the Works a few weeks ago (quite disappointed actually, they "pop" together with press-studs but both boxes have one that is a little out of alignment so don't click shut properly... hey ho!
Anyway I have put the to use with my Paperartsy A5 plates in stead of the previous boxes, and moved a few things around... devotees of my room may spot what's changed!
let me see if I can find an old photo, hang on...
well this sort of show shows it looked ...
and then on Saturday Paperartsy released some new JoFY stamps - oh me oh my!
8 new minis and 2 large sets (see, I was restrained,I only got 6 of the minis!!!!)
they arrived today (oops, Tuesday) at work and in time for their debut on the desk today!
now to log them in the catalogue and hopefully ink them up!
(you can also see my little (A6) journal in which I've been playing with my Stampotiques I got a few weeks ago - who says I don't use my stuff!!)
sorry I kept you so long, will let you go and desk hop some more now.

Paperartsy - Colour Mixing and new stamps
The current topic at Paperartsy is Colour Mixing and we have seen some fabulously informative posts about how to mix colours (and not make mud!) and some of the guests have taken a huge amount of time to experiment with colours. Kim Dellow has also released a new set of stamps to go alongside her earlier releases and they are gorgeous!
so I had a play in my journal with some bright contrasting colours (Inky Pool, Limelight and Bougainvillea) for some impact and stencilled modelling paste.
I started with the black modelling paste to get some texture on the page, and then painted round the paste (once dry) with the paints.. I used some white to slightly tone down the pink.
and some white and black marker doodling to outline the breaks between the colours (it was feeling a bit map-like at this stage but I still had no idea where I was going..)
then Kim's stamps arrived and I had a play... stamped them on some white cardstock, and painted them with the same 3 colours, cut them out and glued them to the journal.
Added some thinned Snowflake by using the Tim Holtz splatter brush
Hoping to have another (better) play at this for the challenge if thee is time.. but the Olympics have started (I am watching a re-run of the Opening Ceremony as I write this) so I may be a bit distracted...

WOYWW 374 - not a lot to share
Happy Wednesday once again, time to take part in our weekly desk hopping.. Julia has the linky and info here...
As the title suggests, not much to show today. been attempting a journal page to fill the space to the left of the one I showed last week.. was aiming for texture and colour mixing (Paperartsy latest challenge) but it's not going how I imagined.. may paint over the whole thing..
it was also very dark when I took this at 8pm on Tuesday - dull and damp, had to put the light on!! in August.. at 8pm... ridiculous!
since I took this picture I've tried to do some white doodling but think my sharpie marker is running out of ink (I have a spare luckily)
so I may indeed, paint over all the colour and start again!
watch, as they say, this space!
I had hoped (was ever thus) to have some new goodies to share with you but the "dispatched" email only came on Tuesday so no doubt the parcel will drop through the letterbox while I am at work ... so next week it will be then!

Wanderlust Book - prompt 11 - What am I passionate about?
It has been a while since I made time to get any challenges or activities done for the Wanderlust online course by Everything Art... a few weeks ago, the Wanderlust Book prompt was "What am I passionate about".... after spending another morning at my favourite place I was blogging the photos and thought... oh yes that fits!
I spend hours at Kew, I go as often as I can, nearly always on a Saturday morning unless something else gets in the way - check out my photography blog if you want to see some very photo-heavy posts - and if you want to know more about Kew Gardens check their website here. And, if you can, go visit!
So this morning, I created this double page spread in my Wanderlust book.
I used some DecoArt paints that my friend Sam gave me for my birthday, and Chalk Fresco to create some blurring of the colours. I used my fingers... those of you who know me, will realise this is very different for me!
I spent some time blending and wiping and smudging with the Chalk Fresco before starting to add some elements to the page..
including some stamping (Paperartsy stamps, by Ellen Vargo)
and some leaflets from Kew
The Hive is their latest attraction and is wonderful. (see my blog for photographs - I don't have a printer so couldn't print any to add to my journal)
added some more little flowers (also Paperartsy) in archival ink and some white highlighter markings on the flowers
the bees are by JoFY for Paperartsy
I had heaps of fun with this, hope to catch up with some more of the lessons very soon!
Thanks for looking.

WOYWW 373 - journal pages
Yet another week goes by and I haven't blogged since last Wednesday's post - so it's time to link up again with Julia's Stamping-Ground for the weekly desk-hop.
The new stamps I was waiting for last week, duly arrived but not till Friday I think it was..
I also did a bit more to the journal pages the stamps are resting on,
a bit of texture paste and some butterflies, another tree... still not sure if I'm done with it..
and finally, another page, the background is pinky purple brush wipings from the top journal page, covered in white crackle paste, and marked with a teflon comb (think it's designed for gelli plate marking) before the paste dried (and didn't crackle properly) stamps are by Seth Apter (circles) and Paperartsy and the image is one that my friend Lin sent me recently. some lace from my stash and a piece of wide organza ribbon beneath the image, (painted with Fresco paint but most of it wiped off, just to give it a bit of colour to show up, although in the photo you it doesn't very well!)
Off to link up (well I'm scheduling this as normal but will link up in the morning) with Julia.
