DragonsDream- TIO - R and Music

Welcome along for another tag challenge from the DragonsDream - this fortnight,the lovely Jax would chose the letter R and the theme music, for your tag.  Remember to use at least one real stamp on your tag...

I chose "resist" and "red" for my R..

 Resits for the resist technique - I white embossed a large background music stamp (Impression-Obsession, from their "cover a card" range)

Then added London Bus Fresco paint with cut'n'dry foam, wiping off the embossed area with a babywipe.

 I made some more tissue flowers (and used some of the leftovers from my Darcy challenge journal page (see here) with London Bus and Claret Fresco, the leftovers were Squid Ink and Amethyst.

The sentiments are a Creative Expressions set of Art Sayings which I am ashamed to say I'd forgotten I had, I found them rummaging for the music stamp...

Arranged and glued the flowers round the sayings and added some red ribbon.

WOYWW 259 - 5 minus 1

Hi, so here we are ... a week to go to the big 5 year anniversary hop, and 3 days before the crop - it's going to be such fun, hope to see you there... I have a surprise for you... have made some atc's.. finished. done. ready... hopefully enough for everyone at the crop and then 1 for my swap partner next week...
What? oh, it's What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday... don't you know?

 It wouldn't be stampingbyh without happy mail to share... new stamps and another stencil... love this one, used it tonight ( because I cheat and write this on a Tuesday) in my journal - the one in the background here, but I hadn't done it when I took this photo!!

then I thought I'd take a wider angle view...my knee seems to be in the way in the left corner... bare knee cos it was warm when I took this!

then I thought I'd share a close up... ooh look is that a sneak of the atc's?!! You'll have to wait till after next week to see them (Must remember to take some pictures of them before I swap them...)
You can see I'm also making a list of things to take to the crop too.

Paperartsy -Emma Godfrey - abstract masterboard

Yesterday, Emma who works with Paperartsy shared a video she'd made with Leandra where she showed some fabulous work she'd demo'd at Ally Pally - really wish I'd been there on the Sunday to see it.

I had to have a go, so here I am again, with another project for the Paperartsy challenge.  The video is HERE and it's great to watch.

  I glued book text and stencilled grunge paste through the PS001 stencil  and then a Crafters Workshop stencil, used the two hearts - and South Pacific.  I couldn't get my spray bottles to work so just used cut'n'dry foam.
 I decided to do what Emma did then, and, using my fingers, I added Tango, Chartreuse and Dusty Teal to the background - I'm working on a whole A4 sheet of Papartsy Heavy Smoothy card.   I wasn't too happy with the results I was getting, so swapped to a paintbrush part way through! (easy for step by step photos, too!)

I sanded back over the grunge paste stencils as I felt they'd been too obliterated.

Used one of the new Ellen Vargo stamps for my stamping, together with Paperartsy Mini 28 (numbers)

Then it was time to knock back with Snowflake - still with a paintbrush for me!!

and like Emma, some bottle cap accents and the little 'pacman' tool for some great top layer accents.

Finally, like Emma I  finished with some Snowflake flicking off the paintbrush - fun, but messy (I need a bigger craft space, and the living room maybe isn't an ideal space for this project....) and outlined the hearts with the black portfoleo pastel.

I shall use this for cards or atc's or something, soon! It was fun - thanks, Emma - can't wait to see more of your work!

Keren - a bodge it paper cutting card

Another of Keren's projects was using the large Lynne Perrella stamp from LPC030 and involved cutting out the negative spaces... it became apparent that my craft knife must have a very blunt blade but Keren was keen to seen what it came out like, so here goes...

I have stuck it against some bright turquoise card and it does look better - but would be so much nicer with a sharp knife!!   I even when out this morning and forgot to pick up a new pack of blades...

off to try something I will hopefully have more success with, no cutting involved, ha ha!

Keren Baker - new GD at Paperartsy

This week we welcomed Keren to the Paperartsy team - and some fabulous projects she gave us.  The first day was Clean and Simple - and I've adapted one of her ideas from that day.

I used the Dina Wakley heart set , and Eggplant, South Pacific and Limelight Frescos.

I'd forgotten how much fun heat embossing is...



I did start out by attempting one of the paper cutting pieces Keren showed us on another of her days, but my craft knife must be very blunt, as I got some very rough edges to my cutting, so have abandoned that for now!

Month 4 - Darcy Journal class

I am really enjoying the monthly journal lessons/prompts from Darcy for Paperartsy (although you don't have to work in a journal for non-journallers, (Sam) ) and this month's was no exception.  Check the fabulous pages Darcy created here  - brilliant, isn't it?

Anyhow, I have been playing about with for ages, it's taken me forever to get it finished.. and I took a ton of photos along the way (don't worry, I won't put them all up!)

Following Darcy's ideas, I played with - using old painty scrap paper (had to make some first) ; grunge paste on fabric (kind of) ; mixing opaque paints; scribbling outlines, stencilling onto tissue paper (loved this best); creating runny paint for dripping (big fail!); crackle glaze (partial fail)

 I don't use scrap paper for my paintbrush wiping, I use a new journal page, so improvised here.

 LOVE the stencilled tissue flowers, will be doing these again!

and some not good drippage... too runny I think.
do like the scratchy circles stamped in Chalk though.

 I decided the stencilled tissue flowers were too nice to cover up, so I kept my "knocking back" largely off them.

 Rather than loose weave muslin (don't have any) I knew I had a pack of this knitted wire, from long long ago, that I got from Lin Brown at a show - perfect colour already, stencilled the grunge paste flowers on top - didn't need to stamp into them, as got some fab texture from the mesh underneath.

 painted the flowers.. was so impatient for the grunge paste to dry!!

 had a bit of trouble with the black doodling round the petals, GP still soft and thick for it to work very well.. love this effect though

 especially on this one (better in the flesh!)

 Did the black border while the GP was sort of drying... added it with a dry babywipe and knocked it back with a wet one...

stencilled in Teal. Got a bit confused with my left and right outlining on the letters...!!

WOYWW 258 - 2 weeks to go

and I've started atc's... admittedly not many and admittedly not finished... but!!!! Anyhow, it's Wednesday (well it will be when this is published..) and that means only one thing - Julia's What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday - .week 258.. and 2 weeks to the big 5th anniversary... so. you want a desk?  So do I. (ha ha)

Do you think I have enough blank journals standing by?? there are 4 big (A4) ones and one smaller one which was meant to be a replacement for the one that is now nearly full...
But I just got those down to tease you!

There is new,new stuff to share - the set of stamps and the box of tissue wrap that I just got .  Can't wait to play with these... and the flowers on the mat are for a journal challenge that Darcy, stamp designer for Paperartsy, is running - we're up to month 4 and I am running out of time to finish this month's page... and should have been working on tonight (Tuesday, as I write) but of course I didn't!

I have to say though, I love the square page format of this journal.

Sorry I didn't get to visit many desks last week, not quite sure where the time went!
