Another hangy piece - and new rubber

I've got into these hangy pieces recently (must be spending too much time on Hels blog!!) and this one is a beer mat piece, terra, stamped into, used the Inka-Gold again (filthy fingers again) and another piece of the cogs metal left from yesterday.  I sprayed that with a perfect pearls/reinker mix and stamped the face on
pearl metal. 

I love putting something of a contrasting texture with my "hard stuff" and the prima flower fits.

I saw on someone's blog somewhere, the idea of using two swivel clasps for the hangy bit, so thank you - sorry I can't remember who it was!

It's More New Rubber

With this tag I have used some more of my new stash from last weekend and the stamps that arrived this week.  The base colour on the tag is Wild Honey, which I used for the WV splatter stamp (not sure if that's it's right name) from an existing set.  I used a scrap piece of watercolour paper for the bottle and label, and a light covering of Wild Honey. (sounds like I'm spreading toast!)

I embossed a piece of TSS metal with the FAB cogs mold and added some of the new Viva Inka-Gold paste in green - it has a great shimmer in the tub!  Luckily it cleans off your fingers easily with water as it stains at the time.  I had a small grunge flower just the right shape and size to fit in on the gaps between the cogs at the top of the metal, and covered it in the Inka Gold.  I can't remember enough of my O level German (which in itself tells you how long ago that was!!), to undestand how they recommend using it, the only word I recognise on the label, is "Holtz"!!

I finished it with a splash of rock candy crackle paint on the label and "art" which was also on watercolour paper smooshed with Wild Honey.

Still have plenty of the stamps to try out from the two WV sets, so hope I get time to play more at the weekend.  If it's not raining in the morning (there is a chance), I'm going to Kew with the camera (need to get the film finished ready for next week's WOYWW as have been inside my drawers for you all.)

It's New Rubber!

As I mentioned in my first post today, I got some of my new WendyVecchi stamps in the mail today so I just had to try some of them out.

I covered a tag with bundled sage - one of the new DI's I got on Sunday - and apart from the butterfly (Make Mine Mini Art, which I already had) the stamps are all from WV's "It's Face Art" set.  I made the butterfly antennae using some thin wire, using wild honey DI - I think so far this is my fave of the 6 I bought,  for the butterfly stamped on grungepaper.

The rest of the stamps will have to wait for tomorrow or the weekend.

Now I'm going to clean off the inky fingers and read Tim's book!

Clowns - on your workdesk!

Well, it's Wednesday again already and so it must be WOYWW (check the side bar link or here  for this growing blog hop bonanza) and I have taken some photos of another "swing round" but won't be going out with my camera till the weekend so the film is still in the camera and those will have to wait for next week.  So instead, here is a quick tag I've made to enter for Hels' Sunday Stampers "Clowns" challenge for this week.

The image is by Funstamps and one of my older - and now very rarely used - stamps.  I used to use it a lot for birthday cards when my nephews were smaller but haven't used it for a long time now. (they are all at least teenagers) It is about the only clown stamp I have (well, to be fair I have a couple in the same range but this is my favourite) and is coloured with pencils and gel pens.  I swooshed a bit of distress ink (the new tumbled glass and chipped sapphire) and some rainbow drops on the clown suit buttons.

I also have, but can't show you yet, some postcards that are work in progress for the Gingersnap yahoo group swap to celebrate their 1st birthday, but they aren't ready enough to show yet. Check out the gingersnap group via the link on their blog here

I hope you'll come back next week to check out inside my drawers (just for you, Hels!) - as long as the photos come out ok, of course.  One day I will try and sort out the software that came with my digital camera so I can upload photos from that - it's a few years old and so is running on an old "adobe" programme that won't work now.... don't ask me, I'm not a techie!!

EDIT. Hels, the rose arrived safely today - thank you.  If you haven't seen it, you have to go check out Hels faux porcelain rose tutorial on her blog. She was doing a make and take at Stevenage on Sunday which was so popular I couldn't get close enough to do one - so she made me one specially and it arrived in the post today!  Thanks Hels!!!

Speedy Stevenage Samples

Well, I got there - Stevenage I mean - pretty wet, trains all over the place - engineering works meant buses part of the way into London, so it took longer than normal, and I SHOPPED!! 

I always start at Lin Brown's stand , LB Crafts , she never disappoints.  She was demoing a new Viva product called Inka Gold - a kind of thick shimmery painty-paste which looks great dabbed over Terra and Ferro (I'll play with that later). I limited (ha ha) myself to 6 of the new distress inks and as soon as I'd recovered back at home with a couple of cups of tea, I had to try them out:

On the left - Victorian Velvet (looks much nicer than on the box, I think) Barn Door (great red) and Wild Honey (I think this may be my favourite, it's a beautiful warm orangey yellow).
On the right - Chipped Sapphire (I love that dark blue too ), Tumbled Glass (fab) and Bundled Sage (gorgeous). Do you get the idea I like them??

It was hard only getting six - but I know I will get the rest at Ally Pally in April (if not before.....!)
These aren't meant to be works of art, I just wanted to try out the colours.

I also got some Idea-ology bits and pieces, stocked up on tags, got some rhinestones and pearls, a new TSS mold - the cogs - wow!! and a pack of the new colours of metal - they're doing them in mixed packs now so you get one each of 4 - a great idea! (and a few other things!)  Not bad going, eh?

I saw Hels doing her Make and Take for Jennie but there was quite a crowd so didn't get to have a go - they were making paper roses (...breaks into song) and using UTEE to turn them into brooches so it would have been good to do that.  She had her Sunday Stampers piece with her and it looked even better in the flesh.

Got to have something to eat now, I'm starving - must be all that shopping. Don't suppose I'll get to come back again tonight, so see you soon.

SDC 2 - Colour Challenge with Stampotique stamps

I have a problem.  A very nice problem, mind.  I had pre-ordered some of the new Wendy Vecchi stamps from Wendy at The Stamp Attic and she was doing a give-away for a set of stamps to one winner (and one for Tim's new stamps and Wendy's second book) and I WON the Wendy draw.  So my problem, is, which set do I choose......... Yikes. That's a problem.  Thanks sooo much Wendy and to Iris, the customer who got co-opted into doing the draw for Wendy.  Yipeeee!!

On another note - it's the second Stampotique challenge -  it's a colour challenge of rose, yellow and  mossy green and using  Stampotique stamps.  Here is my entry:

I used "Girl With a Heart Purse" stamped on scrap card, coloured with pink watercolour pencils.  I covered a tall card with a piece of yellow and green spotty paper but there isn't much yellow so I added some yellow via some sequin waste and mustard seed distress ink.  The pink flowers are made on claudine hellmuth's sticky back canvas - I mixed red and white to get a rosy pink colour which I then cuttlebugged and sprayed with marshmallow glimmer mist for a bit of sparkle.    I don't have any stampotique text stamps but thought it needed something so wrote the words with a gel pen.
