WOYWW 621

Happy Wednesday peeps,  time for another instalment of WOYWW.    our fearless leader Julia has all the details.

We'll start with enabling this week

a new stencil /mask combo -  a vase of flowers in sillhouette

and some stamps.

I've not had time to play with them though...because...

On Saturday after my trip to Kew (see here)    I was due to have a Facebook class with Dina Wakley  - called the Power of a Mark,  it was all about mark making ... that was, strangely quite hard... Harder still was the next step of the class, "interpreting" the marks - could I see anything in the marks I'd made?  could I heck... and then, even harder,  adding to them to make into a picture or drawing  - well I'm a stamper, I can't draw...

but I did end up with a pile of pages of marks...

Dina says it's all about playing and practicing, and it IS only paper and a little bit of paint/ink

collage fodder, she calls it.  so watch this space, who knows where these may turn up!
I did  cut up a bold brush stroke mark to adorn a journal page.

so whilst it wasn't a particularly successful lesson it was fun - eventually!

and to whet your appetite for Kew from the link above,

here's the Japanese Garden on Saturday, bathed in (cold) sunshine.

Thanks for looking - more enabling next week (already had the 'order complete' email!)

More Wanderlust - Birgit Koopsen class work "Follow your Dreams"

One of my very favourite lessons so far in the Everything Art course, was the one by Birgit Koopsen, last week.  She used an image transfer as a focal point, but as I don't have a printer, I just went with the rest of the lesson.

Birgit worked over mop up paint in her journal - something I often do, but because my Wanderlust projects are all in a Kraft journal specifically for the purpose, there are no mop up pages, so I just painted colours and stencilled paint, on the page.
adding some pop of orange and yellow before adding some stamped images.

all paints except the orange, are Frescos, the orange is a Decoart

I took the large scribbly circle and the larger flower from two of Emma Godfrey's plates for Paperartsy, and stamped them randomly on the background before the scary bit..
painting white over the rest of the page to leave the pop of background layers peeking through
then comes the writing and doodling.  I was doing this yesterday, on the anniversary of William Shakespeare's death, so took some of his more famous lines from plays and wrote them round some of the shapes.
and the name of the class
had a total ball doing this one and would like to say a big thanks to Birgit for a great class.

Wanderlust 2016 - the start of an online journey

So along with lots of other people I signed up for Wanderlust - a year of online classes and tutorials run by Jamie and Kasia from Artist Trading Post.  The first class was on 1st January and this is what I did.  It's not too late to sign up (although you have missed the early bird price now it's started) - it's going to be a lot of fun!

I did take some step by step photos until I got too dirty but in the interests of fairness to the classes I'm not including them here, but there are a couple of close ups
