WOYWW 490

Happy WOYWW again - the day we meet at Julia's and share our crafty spaces.

Trouble is, nothing has happened here since last week!  I can't share my untouched Christmas cards again but I couldn't bear not to join in as I haven't missed a week in years.

so, time to 'fess up, a staged desk!  well, a staged floor....

a journal page I did for the France Papillon challenge (I must be 8 weeks behind at least) and I haven't done any for ages now, not even a single layer .   (and I can't even remember if I already shared this...but it's the last one that is finished!)

this was a week where the prompt was 'my ideal day'  which, you won't be surprised to hear, featured Kew Gardens (for last Saturday's visit see here)  My reference to emergency party shopping the previous week intrigued some of you... accessorising for a dress to wear to a party at my boss's last Saturday - so no, Jan, no thigh high boots!   but I still managed a few hours at Kew in the sunshine in the morning.

oh, and the party was great - I amazed my work colleagues by dancing (badly, have no sense of rhythm - I'd be rubbish on Strictly!) for most of the evening,

so, my staged desk.  hopefully next week, something else will have happened to share properly!

Neet wanted to see a pic of the new party dress... well it's about 20 (at least ) years old  and only a poor selfie as there is no-one to take one of me here...

  2. Glad someone else has nothing to show but wants to join in anyhow. At least you found a journal page to show us - maybe another week I will have something to show.
What about this new party dress - any pictures of you dressed up to go?

  3. Don't you be so hard on yourself Helen, it's what's on your work space and you've shown just that.. even though it may have been a few weeks back it's still something creative and I love your dedication to Kew.
Super selfie, you have me thinking about the line *Dance like no one is watching* now.
Happy WOYWW & Thank you for your kind words.

  4. You looked fab in your frock, as I said on FB..a grown up night out, we aren’t used to those! Dance like no one’s watching...bet you have a stamp with that on somewhere in your collection! It’s a wonder you’ve had time to even open a journal these ast few weeks...as long as the weather’s been good, you’ve been making the most and I don’t blame you at all.Apparently winter is coming this weekend. For me, if it lasts a weekend it’ll be too long. I could happily live with a lot more of this autumn! Haven’t seen that particular journal page before (according to my memory) and it’s very lovely, perfect colour capture.

  6. It’s good to hear you enjoyed your party....well done you for dancing too.
There’s is a Premier Inn close to the train station in Shrewsbury and if need be the bus station is right next door. Hope that helps.

  8. So sorry, I had read it as "new dress" and not as you accessorising the dress with something new. Not surprised you wore that dress from your wardrobe, the colour is fab and so suits your hair colour. A wise choice and one to keep for the future.
    Thanks for the pic.
    Hugs, Neet xxz

  11. I love the warm colors of the Autumn spread and I LOVE the blue-ish, grey-ish dress... it looks awesome on you! I haven't danced in years either... last time I can remember was in the living room with my son standing on my feet, he must have been 3 (he's 26 now) and the song was a Mink/Willy deVille one... Spanisch stroll maybe? Aaah, good memories! Happy woyww and a big hug from rather chilly and grey Holland. Marit #19

  12. I love dancing and am always first on the dance floor at parties, channelling my inner Disco Diva!! Love the colour of your dress, so what if it's old, if you feel good in it then that's all that matters. Glad you had a great time!

  15. Hi Helen, I think we all have weeks where there is very little to report even if it seems it's been a busy one. Your dress looks lovely ... I'd love it if I had a party dress - even a 20 year old one - but, as nothing from that far back would fit any longer, I don't. Have another great week. Elizabeth x #26

  19. Hi Helen, enjoy the weather and Kew - crafting can wait. Love your party dress, and I'll echo some other comments- dance like no one is watching! Life is too short, as many of us have discovered. Thanks for stopping by earlier, I know I have set myself a challenge with the quilts, but that's part of the fun! Have a lovely week Heather x #8

  20. Your pages are fabulous Helen, and I love the way the foliage is branching over the word Kew - gorgeous warm colours too. The party pic is great and there's nothing like having an old favourite in the wardrobe that you can always rely on to make you feel good.
Hope you have a great week,

  21. Thanks for your return visit, Helen, and for "supporting me" re the "support" garments lol!! It is incredibly frustrating because one is left so powerless and is dealing with faceless people who show very little sense of responsibility. The rep is lovely and she was scared I'd take my frustration out on her, which I would never do! She's done all she was supposed to do and it's the people who actually make them up that are the problem. I have often unravelled knitting and re-used the wool - I suppose I inherited a certain "make do and mend" attitude from my mum and dad who lived through the war years! I hate wasting stuff and if you can give a garment a new lease of life, it's worth it.

  22. Good morning, Helen. Lovely journal page. You are always busy with fun stuff. Would love to see Kew Gardens in person. Thank you for the visit yesterday. The warm temperatures of the past two days vanished. We 'may' see 50* today. We've already had rain so everything is damp and chilly beneath an overcast sky. Migraine yesterday prevented me from getting out in the nice weather. Guess where I'm headed today? LOL Creative Blessings! Kelly #27

  24. With all your trips to Kew (and your posh work do, looking fabulous) I am not surprised the journal needs catching up (I am a few days behind with Inktober too).

  25. Who cares if you have no rhythm. At least you got out there and danced, which is more than some, I bet. You look wonderful in your dress. LOVED the selfie and still loving your red hair.

  26. Lovely dress Helen! Staged desk works for me! I have been trying to participate in WOYWW at least every other week. It helps because I sure feel like weeks wiz by and life takes over and my crafties get neglected. Have a blessed day and thanks for the visit!
