A pink journal page

Earlier today I showed a work in progress journal page in my WOYWW post... Since I arrived home I did some more work on it and here it is, finished!

I'll recap quickly... On Monday each week I watch a delightful video made by France who shares a journal page she makes for us to watch.  This week's page "spoke" to me... and this is my version.  It isn't particularly similar, but I took some of her ideas and my very different products... do watch the video (link above)

Tore out a couple of dictionary pages from an old dictionary (get away!!) This particular copy has very fine, flimsy paper, which rustles pleasingly when you turn the pages (I love books like that!)

However, it does wrinkle on gluing it to my journal page... I gesso'd over the top to blend the torn edge into the background, like France shows.
I don't have the Pebeo paint products that France used, so mixed up some Claret Fresco paint (Paperartsy) in a little spray bottle, with some water (2/3 water to paint) and sprayed it over the page.

Then I stencilled some Paperartsy Grunge Paste (I love this stuff!!) through a stencil (dotted flowers, from Dylusions)
And added distress ink through the stencil (after drying the paste) in picked raspberyy and chipped sapphire

For the stamping I turned to Jo Firth-Young's flowers for Paperartsy (are you sensing the theme here!)  We won't talk about the first "take time to smell the flowers" that was upside down... thank heavens for white Snowflake Fresco paint and going over it the right way up...

Painted the flowers with Beach Hut and Pea Coat for shading.

I added some more Snowflake Fresco to blend out some of the colour/stamping and edged the pages with black soot distress ink.

Finally added some of the single leaf in picked raspberry.

This is the first time I have ever attempted a version of France's Monday Journal pages, (though they are all lovely!) - it was fun!

  8. This is gorgeous Helen, thanks for dedicating it to me, but I actually like it because it's more or a red than an actual pink and blended with the other colours, it looks wonderful.
