WOYWW 525 - 60??????

Hello fellow deskers and welcome to another Wednesday.  This one is kind of special (even more special than most WOYWWs though as it's my birthday... somewhat hard to believe I find I reach 60 today... I swear it was only yesterday I was 40, never mind 50!   Anyway, time for desk sharing day with Julia.
It's staged, I am afraid and I am writing this on Tuesday night -  a little pile of cards and gifts to open before work. (I have never been one for taking the day off on my birthday)

I've been doing a bit of journalling again too, although it's stalled since the weekend!
Although I haven't been following the challenges along for many months, I am still in the FB group for France Papillon's ALAD (a layer a day) journal challenge.

Last week the prompt was "flip it" - every day you flip your journal - either 90 or 180 degrees - and add your next layer.

so this is the first 2 days, two layers of stencilling

and this the next 2.  I did the crackle paste upside down (although you can't tell) and the washi tape was back to the way the photo is oriented  - next layer will be back to the right way up.

except I am stumped for what to add next.

Sadly I can only offer you a slice of virtual cake (and I haven't made it myself either) but hopefully you'll join me in cake for breakfast (elevenses/lunch/tea/supper)
and I'll drop by your desk when I can!   ooh, nearly forgot - last weekend's visit to Kew!

  1. **HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELEN** wishing you a fabulous day with work friends and real cake (I hope) at the end of the day?? What a great idea to turn the journal page and repeat the process, it's like a magic eye page!! Wonder what it would look like adding words or even a palindrome??
Happy Woyww(B)irthday, hope to join in later, been awol as my Mom's not been too good & we've had visitors. Hugs Tracey xx

  2. Happy birthday, Helen. Enjoy your day. Like you, I never took off work on my birthday when I worked in industry. It looks like lots of people remembered it is your day.

I would have been by earlier, but my electricity has been off AGAIN. I wish the electric company could find what is causing this outage in this specific grid.

No number yet, and I am not even linked yet. But you'll find me, I know.

  3. Happy birthday Helen! Hope you have a good day (work or no work) and that you enjoy the cake. Look forward to seeing your cards next week. I'd add a focal point to your journal next if it is going to be the right way up then. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

  4. Gotta sing:

    Happy Birthday to You
    Squashed tomatoes and stew
    Lots of Jelly
    In Your Belly
    Happy Birthday to You!

Have a lovely day with all your friends at work - much better to share with colleagues who are friends than on your own - am sure there will be cake.

  10. A very happy birthday to you Helen. Hope you have a great day and get spoiled at work. Thank you for your visit so early this morning. I won't be doing anything with my iron now until I get a much longer extension lead to enable me to get the cable safely out of the way, but it certainly is fun. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter) #9

  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Thanks for the slice of cake.
I was told on my 60th (many moons ago) that it was all downhill from now on ..... don't you believe it!!! Ignore the mirror, enjoy yourself, laugh lots and you will only get older.... not old!!
Have a happy, happy day..... and DO share the photos.

  17. I’ll enjoy a cake for breakfast elevenses lunch and tea if you can spare it! I don’t think I’ve ever had a day off for a birthday either, me and Bart aren’t very good at doing stuff for birthdays so it seems a waste of holiday! However, doesn’t stop me wishing you a fab day, I can’t believe it’s sixty...I mean, aren’t we all just old enough to know ourselves by now?!

  18. Happy Birthday again, Helen! Hope you are having a wonderful day, even if you are working. (I never took a day of for my birthday either). That's a lovely pile of birthday mail you have there too - the postie must have had to make several trips :) Like the colours and the stamp on your journal page and flipping it makes for interesting patterns. Birthday hugs, Elizabeth x #24

  24. YAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HELEN! Wow, 60... I know, the time vanishes ever more rapidly these days. How I got to be 66 is anyone's guess. Anyway, hope you've had a really spiffing day and eaten lots of CAKE!!! Love the virtual cake - that's the low calorie version!

Love the rotating journal page! What a cool idea. It will be interesting to see what you rotate with next - hope you will show us how you get on with this one!

Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, sadly still in the wars and likely to be for about a month, I should think. Shame nails have to grow from the bottom and not from the middle. This evening I washed all the washable parts of my new kitchen gadget so it's ready to use, and I've read the book. I've been collecting loads of recipes and can't wait to get started now! I'm thrilled with the new chair, too, and if the weather is nice tomorrow, I'm going to venture out alone in it for the first time, and whizz down to the local shopping centre - that is, if I'm not completely wiped out by the past few very busy days.

Happy WOYWW and many congratulations on your 60th!

  30. Oh no, I'm late! There'll be a belated e-card winging its way in your direction very shortly. Many many happy returns on your milestone birthday. Hope you had a great day, work notwithstanding - certainly looks like you had a lovely pile of real cards to open.

I'm sure inspiration will strike when it needs to for your next layer - the flipping idea is really interesting... not sure how I'd cope!

P.S. - and sorry to get you excited about a "new" Cestina post... I just meant new for her, given her posts are so few and far between at the moment... but of course you'd already been there!!
